Harrogate Town into League 2, quite an achievement albeit financially aided but credit to them. All teams are financially aided[emoji848] Harrogate are no different Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk Try telling that to Wigan, Macclesfield or Bury fans. Maguire & Langstaff Released

Some of the idiots in chief at the Spendy end are finding it hard to stomach that Maguire has rejected the vibes so are just inventing inflated figures about the signing even when their ignorance of the facts and stupidity has been exposed by people who know the score. Some seem to be a greener sha...

Attacking options

I’d expect to see a lot of rotation next season. One of the big things is we’ve got the flexibility to change things up. We can go with a 4-3-3 (my guess is Campbell, Maguire, then one of Rivers/Holmes/Donawa will be 1st choice). There’s 4–2-3-1 which is similar but with a slight difference. But we ...

Maguire & Langstaff Released

Any gut feeling on the other player CR, no news on Adam Wrightson having signed for anyone plus the obvious one in Langstaff. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk It would be a pure guess but I'd say someone for the attacking midfield slot, I don't think it'll be the GK just yet. Delighted that the Mag...

Maguire & Langstaff Released

Yeah the position of chief benchwarmer at Spendy is vacant after Boyes’ departure so they’ll be in for Maguire without doubt.

A little surprised they’ve released Kallum Griffiths to be honest. Wouldn’t mind seeing him here but a RB isn’t a priority for AA.

October 3rd

We are likely to stay with 22 and south reduced to 21 as we get Fylde and Chorley but who knows how they do it. They get all 43 teams and then draw a new line to split the step 2 divisions. I actually think we are more likely to be the division with 21 as I expect Gloucester to move across. You don...

Re: Incoming goalkeeper

So getting back on topic. Sol Brynn the most likely to be the goalkeeper for next season? He’s a name that’s been doing the rounds, certainly. Although Armstrong did go with a permanent keeper in Elliott last year, he did get burned a little bit and it was an area we didn’t nail down last season. S...

Incoming goalkeeper

How many minutes was he actually on the field for in the biggest game of his life? Not relevant, for reasons already explained in this thread. And I notice you’ve dodged the other points I put to you. I still believe it was a very poor decision to recall him when he did but it was his call. And you...

Incoming goalkeeper

Of course any club has the right to recall a loanee but surely only if they want to use them. In this case they did not so the decision was poor not only for us but for the player himself. He missed out on the chance to play in the most important game of his career and test himself against full tim...

Re: Incoming goalkeeper

You’re operating from the false assumption that Woodgate was a competent manager who knew what he was doing. He clearly didn’t and was out of his depth and Gibbo acted before it was too late. Boro would be in league one now if he hadn’t. Several of my mates are Boro season ticket holders and feel t...

Re: October 3rd

Fairly standard Spen playbook there. Almost predictable now. Deliberately distort the point and accuse others of being paranoid. If he’s had to sink to that level, fair to say al_quaker has the better of him in this discussion. I notice he’s even locked his own Twitter account - he’s not afraid to t...

Re: October 3rd

I do accept that not everything is equal, and you raise some reasonable points. Natural variations do exist between clubs, however I do still think a league/government imposed restrction which will impact some clubs revenues but not others at short notice does raise questions of fairness. However, ...

Re: October 3rd

Spen has never argued in good faith. For some reason he’s an incredibly insecure individual who tries to drag other people down by insulting them (as proven in this thread). Disagreeing with people reasonably is beyond him, and he has no intention of doing so. We all know he’s a troll (just check ou...

Re: Jordan Burrow & Macauley Langstaff

Think I’d be tempted with any one of burrow or langstaff. Both were trouble when they played us Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I’d say Langstaff is more of an Armstrong signing. Not entirely sure Burrow would fit our style, plus Charman gives us the physical presence we were missing. Wouldn’t s...

Jordan Burrow & Macauley Langstaff

I mentioned Gray because the topic had moved to York city F.C. Martin Gray did a lot of good for Darlo especially in the early years and to mention him in this this thread is by no way "obsessive" - we can all talk about past events, there's nothing wrong with that. If another club wants a contract...

Jordan Burrow & Macauley Langstaff

I have mixed feelings about York. On one hand some of their fans have a massive chip on their shoulder - they think playing that "part time" teams is beneath them, and also I disliked the way that Martin Gray was tapped up, but leaving that to one side they have suffered from bad luck (like us) in ...

Re: Playoffs

As much as it’s a new stadium, I can’t say I’m massively excited by York’s new ground.

Another soulless, generic, Lego stadium.

As much as Botham Crescent is a bit of a creaking dump, at least it’s a dump with some old school football ground character.

FA Cup

Good news that the FA are running the FA Cup as normal next year. Had been fears they'd try and reduce the qualifying rounds to make up for the late start. 889 teams have applied to take part, with only 736 places, meaning draws will take place to establish which Step 6 sides enter (previously would...

The Team 20/21 season

Noticed that Danny Graham has left Blackburn, he’s from the area and maybe wants a similar path to what Nicky Hunt’s doing. Alun did say in his interview that he’s looking for another striker, I know that I’m probably putting 2+2 together and getting 5 but you never know Very funny. If Danny Graham...

Re: Who will follow Wigan Athletic into administration?

Bury FC, the original club, could be placed in the National League.

That’s if you believe their delusional, narcissistic, egotistical clown of an owner, who’s managed to blame everyone apart from himself for the club’s demise.

Playoffs

I watched three of the four games (was flicking between the two lunchtime matches). Thought the intensity was OK. Definite signs of rustiness at times from players, which is to be expected after four months off. But actually the quality level wasn’t much different to what we’re used to. Certainly no...
