Re: Diego Maradona

His head was an arms length from the ball hence he handled it over Shilton. The keeper presumably thought it was easily his ball and made the judgement based on honesty. Wrongly with hindsight. The blame is with the handball, not Shilton.

Re: Diego Maradona

No, he clearly thought he'd get the ball but god's hand got there first. The cheating (and I'm not aggrieved) caused the goal, not poor keeping. My point was you don't get that many caps from being "timid" especially when you're in competition with the mighty Clemence.

Re: Diego Maradona

I think in the normal run of play the ball was going into Shilton's arms and he didn't expect "god's" hand to tip it over him. Timid and pathetic unfair words to use about a very good, brave and reliable keeper who has 50 more caps than the next keeper.

Re: Diego Maradona

I don't think anyone's condoning cheating and this obviously was. My point is that to focus on one act is unfair to an obvious footballing genius. Peter Shilton said he was undoubtedly the greatest player he ever played against! Of course if he hadn't used his hand Shilton would have saved it. I was...

Re: Away to Bristol rovers

I'm disappointed but not downhearted. We've done really well to get here and made some substantial cash along the way. We can all pick a side with hindsight but we're not insiders who know how fit the players are. We've had a lot of injuries and maybe that's impacted on team selection. We started ve...

Re: Diego Maradona

I agree the adulation is over the top but if you look at him in purely football terms surely he's up there in most people's top five best ever players? Sadly with the hero worship there's often a downside and George Best certainly falls into that bracket for me. It's unfair to label more recent team...

50 years - don't worry, it happens. I remember many years ago watching Crimewatch and the armed robber in Yorkshire was the spit of me. I lay awake waiting for the bizzies (police) to knock. Apparently it wasn't me after all. Smiling emoji.

Re: Guiseley v Darlington

Great result and a really positive performance. The pressing and energy kept them penned in their own half for long periods. Minter made a great save near the end but also had that rush of blood so interesting to see who will be in nets next. Coverage was good but shows how brilliant Quaker tv is-th...

Re: DARLAS - The Ted Forster Episode

Okay, you've convinced me, I can't dispute such a massive body of evidence. I'm too lazy and dim-witted to argue against the balance of probabilities. It was the West Ham supporting that did it-I'd conveniently forgotten that. I really need to make copious notes in future. I'll leave Ted (or Pete) t...

I'm not interested in saving face merely wishing to put forward an alternative view. You really are never wrong and you're happy to attack people on a regular basis, putting people down, commenting on what you think their mental ability might be and often being downright obnoxious. Point scoring, eg...

The only reason I'm continuing with this is because no, you haven't convinced me at all. I'm not "playing victim" I just think there's a different view than yours. Unfortunately anyone having the temerity to challenge you is subjected to childish, abusive comments such as dunce or dim witted. You do...

Re: DARLAS - The Ted Forster Episode

Whatever he says you will twist it to fit your argument. He says he didn't vote for brexit, he's a fan of Darlington and Hull KR and knows Pete. He worked in Solihull and knows the area. I'm a fan of Darlington and watch Widnes on occasion. I lived in Nuneaton and know the area and I didn't vote for...

I'm pretty sure you know what I mean. It's my opinion that there are a number of players I would view as pretty certain first names on the team sheet, those above I've named included and I felt we sorely missed on Saturday.

Re: Darlington V Telford

They may be experienced, decent players but I'm certain we are better with four first choice players than second choice players. Hunt has been such a bonus at the back and I felt we missed Charman's size and ability to hold up play. I'm not denigrating these players as they put a shift in.

I've said elsewhere if you remove Hunt, Wheatley and Charman (and McMahon) at our level I think that's going to really create problems. Let's see what we're like at full strength.

I think if you had Hunt, Wheatley and Charman missing you'd worry about getting a result. Thought we played very well for most of the first half and should have scored a few. Don't know what their manager said at half time but it worked! With these three back for Rovers we'll give them a go and anyt...

Re: FA rules on abandonment

Accepting that the injury was far more serious than anyone first thought I'm sure many would have been unhappy if the ref had blown up and we were the attacking team. It's not easy to referee and he doesn't have eyes in the back of his head. Think some of the comments on here are pretty unfair. Hind...

Re: Darlington V Telford

Saltmer for Minter, the rest looks fine. From the Northern Echo: "Early on Darlington goalkeeper Johnny Saltmer made two stunning saves, pushing away Ellis Iandolo’s header after a Swindon free-kick on the left had been whipped in. And when Joel Grant was sent racing in on goal after a pass from the...
