Re: Tommy Taylor Departs
Clearly SW is confident he can find better than Taylor and wouldn't be surprised if he can find a suitable replacement. I still think it's for the best that we move on players who were surplus to requirements and Taylor was one of them.

Re: Tommy Taylor Departs
It's his choice to leave. After a season like that just gone where he has been in and out of the team, and come under some scrutiny of his abilities - rightly or wrongly - I'm not surprised he feels a fresh start somewhere else is what he feels is best. Yes, it'll be a task to replace in the goalkee...

Playoffs, who do you want to go up?
Boston Utd beat Alfreton in the first round of the playoffs. So anyone have any preference on who we want to see promoted? I wouldn't mind seeing Brackley go up, been in our league for a while and would at least get rid of a more southern based club albeit probably replaced by Oxford City.

Re: So who do you want to be relegated Blyth or Farsley>
Blyth will most likely be relegated. Farsley have more to play for than Buxton and Brackley still have playoff advantage riding on their fixture against Blyth, albeit against a relegation threatened side. As the old cliché goes, football doesn't always play out as expected and on balance I would pro...

Re: Once the dust settles...
Staying put still doesn't answer the issue about non match day income, or getting all the matchday income that we raise without having it syphoned off to pay the landlords. This is exactly it and the whole point we need our own facilities. DJ had said recently that if we sold out all hospitality, p...

It's excellent news and a positive step by the club. Hopefully, assurances have been made on future ambitions.

Re: Once the dust settles...
My personal point of view is that if plans for another new stadium are going to be difficult and too costly then maybe we should consider staying put at Blackwell. It might be a time to revisit the conversation with the rugby club and see if opinions have changed - I accept that this may be a waste ...

A fantastic achievement that we have stayed up, considering the absolutely dire position we were left in after Gowling was sacked. Well done to Watson and Mitchell and the players for stepping in and stepping up and producing a magnificent run of results and retaining our National League North place...

Re: Massive credit to Watson and the board
There is a slim chance but more often than not once the loan reports come back it's likely that Sunderland will try to loan him higher up the pyramid to progress his development. He has the potential to follow the same route as Pickford and all being well he has a great career going forward.

Re: Darlington V Southport
So many scenarios even with 2 games to play and 52pts still isn't safety. However, it's now a case of one more win and I think it'll be it and unfortunately at this point I think it will be Blyth to drop. Although Scunthorpe can't win the title they will want to win next week to guarantee advantage ...

Andy Lonergan, not here for long but had a extensive career.
Andy Oakes was a decent goalkeeper before losing his place to David Stockdale.

Re: We’ve come along way.
To be fair 97 is correct. The appointment of JG was questioned right back when the decision to employ him was made. I was another not totally sure it would work out and when weighing up the credentials it smacked of a desperate punt on something different (JG) rather than the tried and tested (SW). ...

Re: The Bottom Ten, Tuesday Mar 12th 2024
The ideal scenario for the next two matches is for us to beat Peterborough Sports and ideally Kings Lynn to beat Rushall on Saturday. Follow that up by beating Rushall and I'd say we'll be practically there, obviously not mathematically but we'd have a reasonable cushion with wriggle room to find an...

Re: Blyth V Darlington
IF we do stay up, would this beat Hodgy's season 03/04 in terms of where we were league-wise? Steve Watson has done wonders just to get us within touching distance of safety and makes you wonder what prevented us from employing him after AA because if we could of we may have even made the playoffs o...

Re: Needed points minimum
Blyth, Rushall, Farsley and Southport matches are the definitive six-pointers. However, after the performances and results of the last 4 games prior to yesterday, I'd not rule out picking up points at home to Peterborough Sports and even Chorley. Warrington away will be difficult and ideally we don'...

Re: Darlington v Banbury 2/03/24
The real deal is having a manager who is just down to knowing the basics required to win games. Not over complicating things and a million miles from what JG was attempting to do. We are right on the coattails now of those above and if and when we are above the dotted line I can see us staying there...

Ideally we have to follow this up with points at Curzon, we just need to keep in touch with the others above even if they have games in hand scoreboard pressure can count. SW is getting far more out of the team than at any point during the season and if only he'd been given the job as Armstrong's su...

Re: More local competition for good players now at Blyth
You are right of course and that’s what we don’t have to worry about right now or the risk the other model brings. Fine balancing act I agree. The last 14mths though has seen decline on the pitch to the point of relegation together with little to no progress it seems on any new ground with the pote...

Re: Boston v Darlington 20/02/24
I wouldn't say tonight is a win or bust fixture, it's probably one which at best we could hope for is a draw. The pressure matches are the games against Southport, Peterborough Sports, Banbury at home and Rushall away etc, then it's a case of filling in the other points required from fixtures such a...

Only 4 games on today in NLN, but the 3 other teams in the relegation zone, Bishop Stortford, Gloucester and Kings Lynn are all in action. Could do with them all losing. Which they nearly did! Only a 90+1 min equalizer by King's Lynn spoiled the day. Now we need to make the most of our games in han...

Bottom line is if you can't rouse the players to perform against the bottom club then when are they going to. JG's post match reaction really sums up where we are... muddled and lost. His appointment really has compounded this very poor season so far and no signs of this being reversed either. :thum...

Whatever the merits or otherwise of the JG / DR (et al) as a management team I don't think that I have never seen any new/relatively new manager / coaching team at DFC get quite such a raw deal from any group of supporters from pretty much day 1 as this one  Its as if, for all their contacts/...

The fact we have signed an undercooked striker, yes with some kind of ability, and seems like everyone is pinning hopes on him. Isn't it more of a worry that we don't have the personnel to create the chances consistently? Yes, possibly an upgrade on Hazel but no guarantees he will bail us out on his...

The basic statement requires an answer!!!! Who do we appoint now that makes us better ?? I’ll wait…. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but if the shortlist at the time was numerous and strong (as led ...

At the end of the day Gowlings signings have been just awful, barring a couple.
