Re: Help required, to clean the Arena

Got to say the place didn’t look anything like some have made out .”Rusting hulk”, “falling apart” and all that nonsense. Yes it’s a bit tired looking here and there but a few more volunteer days by the usual Dads Army group that were there yesterday would soon have the place sorted. Actually forgot...

Enjoyed meeting people from Mowden, who were so friendly & helpful, the complete opposite of Darlington Rugby Club. Ground looks fine & ready to go.
The pitch is far from ready to go.

Starting to get worried that we might not get too far this season. Around 6 northern league games cancelled and a few in the midlands I believe. According to today’s Echo Vinnie Steels has returned to Sunderland to join their under 23 ranks after spells at Darlington York and Burnley. Wonder if they want to loan him out to a NLN team for experience? Certainly would make sense for him to get some first team experience - he needs to be playin...

Re: Ground share

Can't see any good reason not to allow the temporary relocation. The allowed Darlington to move to BM mid season, so some teams went to Bishop & some to BM. Only thing I could see being an issue was if ( hypothetical situation). Darlington tried to switch back to BM for games against clubs expected...

Does anyone know if DJ or DFCSG have actually spoken with Mowden at all? With the new owner/investor Ged Quinn they may well have different ideas.
Do you honestly think DJ would have gone to the national press with this without speaking to Mowden.

Would it not be fairer if we have to limit numbers to base it on last season’s average attendance ? I don’t know the exact figures, but let’s say Gateshead ground can hold 10000 but their average gate was 1000 and say numbers were cut to 50 percent because of Covid so they would be allowed 500, we ...

Of course any club has the right to recall a loanee but surely only if they want to use them. In this case they did not so the decision was poor not only for us but for the player himself. He missed out on the chance to play in the most important game of his career and test himself against full tim...

Re: North West based Darlington fans

I've rarely seen Darlington at home but get to most games over this side of the Pennines (it's a standing joke with some Darlo regulars who almost fell over when I appeared at Blackwell). In the past I've been to Yeovil, Bournemouth and Aldershot but I now I tend to just attend NW games so I'm out....

Re: Sports village

These figures are completely made up but just as a representation to illustrate 'how'. When Darlington play at home the rugby club sell 100 pints. For £2.50 of which £2.00 is costs and of the profit that is split 50:50. Therefore they make £25 profit. Before Darlington used to attend they used to s...

Re: Potential new signings

I see the Mackems have let 24 go. The majority of these are players aged under 24 so presumably haven't had much if any first team involvement. I've no idea who they are though I'm sure others will. From the number alone though you'd think there may be one or two that could perhaps do a job for us?...

So.What do we think it’s going to be.According to the BtB pitch the total “makes up around a third”of the playing budget. That would mean somewhere between 350 and 400k .That is one hell of a pile of cash Over to you Al,fill your boots . And again,a huge well done to everyone that contributed

Re: Boost the budget

I thought this year we could achieve 120k even with everything going on because of the season we have had and the feel good factor around the place. I still believe we can achieve this with a late push, however looking at it with 7 days to go 110k is a more realistic figure. So far 423 have contrib...

I would keep Reid. Intelligent player with a physical presence who can play across a number of positions in the side. In fact, I don’t think the question should be asked of keeping him or Hedley. Both are good enough and will stay. In terms of Elliott, I was hammered for saying he would cost us poi...

Re: Boost the budget

Awesome start as to be expected. I will be increasing my pledge slightly because I believe that Alun will spend wisely on good players, as shown last season. One slight misgiving is no target has been set, why? Darlo fans love a target. Another slight concern is it comes across a bit defeatist when...
