Re: Club Statement

I wish the police statement in the Echo was more measured, impartial, objective and accurate. Well the way I read what was stated in that article was that the police were called in to deal with fans getting on the pitch and throwing objects. Later in the article there is, what appears to be, a quit...

Re: Spennymoor Away

For what it's worth I was within earshot of the guy organising the stewards at the bottom end of the ground well before kick off and he was telling them that only disabled and those who would not be able to stand were allowed to sit in the limited seating at that end of the ground. Red and white tap...

Re: Spennymoor Away

On a slightly different point to the last few posts, but having read both the Darlo report of the Match and that on the Spennymoor site, I can only see Joe Wheatley as the only player booked during the Match. So why wasn't McKenna booked for taking off his shirt after scoring the second goal?

Re: Blyth game

Have to say that having not been at yesterday's game I was hoping for a bit more feedback from those who did go. Not a complaint but an observation that having won four in a row the reaction here does seem very muted indeed, and contrasts sharply with the exuberant thread about the Spenny game. Perh...

Re: LATE CHRISTMAS PRESENT

With the only blot being the loss at Leamington, the four wins in the league and the draw with Solihull in the Trophy must give AA a chance of another MOM award as a late Christmas present.

Re: Darlington V Spennymoor

They chucked a bottle of coke at the celebrating players. Ainsley thought his side didn't deserve to lose and a terrible refereeing decision killed them. I was a bit surprised that the ref didn't seem too concerned about the bottle being thrown. I might have expected him to ask for an announcement ...

I think that Wilson Kneeshaw fits in well with the sort of player that AA has plainly favoured. We have Thommo, Rivers, Campbell, Donawa, Bell, and Holmes that all appear to be attractive, comfortable on the ball, play making forwards. They all seem capable of chipping in with a decent amount of goa...

Re: Simply not good enough

Having read the last few posts on this thread I was beginning to get the impression, based on the notion that others know better than I do, that we are already in dire straits re attendances, and that we are having to dip into the cup run money to maintain the projected break even figure. However, l...

Whilst seeing the highlights uncover some notable failings from a number of our players, they also show what you get from a seasoned and regular goalscorer. We have any number of players who can create panic in opposing defences as they did in the first half, but to get full value out of this we cou...

Well this is it, come on Darlo 👍
Predictions for team result what do you think?
I think we might just be able to get 11 men on the pitch at the start of the game, which would be quite an achievement.

Re: BT Sport...

Yep, the whole cup run has been, what Del Boy would have termed, a "nice little earner". And I think that a good portion of the money should be held over to prevent us running into the cash flow problems of last year, which led to having to part company with Styche. If it doesn't get used for this p...

Re: BT Sport...

Got to remember that £36k is up for grabs for winning the tie too! That is certainly true, but as has been said on another thread, Walsall won't be as surprised by our play a second time, and the evidence of Saturday's game suggests that they will have a different set up for the replay. We will als...

Upgrade in TV money for initial picks to £75k but replays for this round didn’t change from £33,750 by all accounts. That’s from this years FA handbook to clubs.
That certainly is annoying. Haven't the TV companies heard of the rising cost of everything due to Brexit. :D

Re: BT Sport...

There are several reports out there that confirm the figure, including the Northern Echo. I can find this one from last year on the FA website: http://www.thefa.com/news/2018/nov/12/fa-cup-on-tv-first-round-replays-bt-sport-121118 The TV companies only pay half the fee for replays. No idea what the...

Re: BT Sport...

It may be a dumb question but where does the £33,000+ figure come from? I can remember seeing a post elsewhere that suggested that getting on TV would be worth £67,000, so I assume that the 33,000 figure is a split of that, but I don't know if the 67,000 is reliable, and the same for all TV companie...

Re: Walsall V Darlington FA Cup First Round Proper

Have the same feeling about which way this will go. Watching last night's game I thought Carlisle weren't all that but just had that bit extra quality in attack. The home side looked just as good as their opponents for long periods, which reinforces the point that there isn't often that much differe...

Thanks for that - immortal stuff, the pathe film makes it look real end to end and it's nice to see clips of our gallant fans. Jimmy Greaves who played in the drawn game at Stamford Bridge, covers this match well in his auto.biography. My Father and most of my uncles were at the game and they all r...

This feels like the Andrew Nelson effect all over again. The lad starts scoring for us, gets his profile raised, and off he goes. As other said then and now, it's great for the lads themselves but leaves us with a hole to fill. We do have more cover in the squad now, but O'Neill has a rather particu...

The last few posts have pointed out a concern that was visibly there at the start of the season when, because AA failed to sign Maguire, we were potentially going to struggle in the goal getting area. Re: Hereford....

Hereford certainly managed the game with all the tricks to delay and niggle their way to a point. They probably should have had another man sent off and should certainly have had more booked, based on some the cheaper bookings that Darlo players received. So it was easy to see them as the villains o...

A reasonable fee is fuck all, for a 33 year old who is out of contract in 5 months. If Shields won't extend his loan, or let us sign him for nowt - then they can go and fuck themselves and we'll go back in for him at the end of the season. Obviously I'd like us to sign Connell, but to be fair Ellio...

On the topic of Connell, I am impressed for the first time in a long time that when a ball goes into the Darlo box that I am being convinced that our keeper will claim it. I haven't had that sort of confidence in a long time and I'm sure that is how it is for the defence as well, knowing that if the...

I think it's the sort of game that would be immediately passed over by anyone planning coverage of the round. It's just not an appealing tie and especially so with the league side being at home. We would have stood a chance with a home tie against league opposition but not with this one. Agreed aga...

One further thought, however, is that being as this hasn't got such a big game feel may help with being able to refocus the team's attention back to improving our league position. You often see a team, finding that they are getting too caught up in the glories of the cup, end up losing their league ...

Re: FA Cup draw - Darlo Away to Walsall

Personally I think it's a shite draw and just seems a real bummer to get yet another away game after already negotiating three tricky away ties. It won't be a great crowd as their fans just sound fed up to the back teeth with their club, with very little enthusiasm for the game. Even given their po...
