Re: BT Sport...

It may be a dumb question but where does the £33,000+ figure come from? I can remember seeing a post elsewhere that suggested that getting on TV would be worth £67,000, so I assume that the 33,000 figure is a split of that, but I don't know if the 67,000 is reliable, and the same for all TV companie...

Re: Walsall V Darlington FA Cup First Round Proper

Have the same feeling about which way this will go. Watching last night's game I thought Carlisle weren't all that but just had that bit extra quality in attack. The home side looked just as good as their opponents for long periods, which reinforces the point that there isn't often that much differe...

Re: The last time we won 4 matches in the F A Cup.

Thanks for that - immortal stuff, the pathe film makes it look real end to end and it's nice to see clips of our gallant fans. Jimmy Greaves who played in the drawn game at Stamford Bridge, covers this match well in his auto.biography. My Father and most of my uncles were at the game and they all r...

AA just been on Football Focus talking to Clem about our tie at Walsall. Both got soaked during Thursday night's training. So the Beeb are taking a bit of notice.

Re: O'Neill recalled

This feels like the Andrew Nelson effect all over again. The lad starts scoring for us, gets his profile raised, and off he goes. As other said then and now, it's great for the lads themselves but leaves us with a hole to fill. We do have more cover in the squad now, but O'Neill has a rather particu...

Re: Hereford....

The last few posts have pointed out a concern that was visibly there at the start of the season when, because AA failed to sign Maguire, we were potentially going to struggle in the goal getting area. We have some very gifted players who can all pitch in with a decent amount of goals but in games, l...

Re: Hereford....

Hereford certainly managed the game with all the tricks to delay and niggle their way to a point. They probably should have had another man sent off and should certainly have had more booked, based on some the cheaper bookings that Darlo players received. So it was easy to see them as the villains o...

Re: Liam Connell - Boost the Budget

A reasonable fee is fuck all, for a 33 year old who is out of contract in 5 months. If Shields won't extend his loan, or let us sign him for nowt - then they can go and fuck themselves and we'll go back in for him at the end of the season. Obviously I'd like us to sign Connell, but to be fair Ellio...

Re: Darlington V Kidderminster

On the topic of Connell, I am impressed for the first time in a long time that when a ball goes into the Darlo box that I am being convinced that our keeper will claim it. I haven't had that sort of confidence in a long time and I'm sure that is how it is for the defence as well, knowing that if the...

Re: FA Cup draw - Darlo Away to Walsall

I think it's the sort of game that would be immediately passed over by anyone planning coverage of the round. It's just not an appealing tie and especially so with the league side being at home. We would have stood a chance with a home tie against league opposition but not with this one. Agreed aga...

Re: FA Cup draw - Darlo Away to Walsall

One further thought, however, is that being as this hasn't got such a big game feel may help with being able to refocus the team's attention back to improving our league position. You often see a team, finding that they are getting too caught up in the glories of the cup, end up losing their league ...

Re: FA Cup draw - Darlo Away to Walsall

Personally I think it's a shite draw and just seems a real bummer to get yet another away game after already negotiating three tricky away ties. It won't be a great crowd as their fans just sound fed up to the back teeth with their club, with very little enthusiasm for the game. Even given their po...

It would be fantastic if we could get Ipswich town away a dream draw for Alun Armstrong one of his former clubs.we played them at Portman road in the league cup in the mid 1980's but I missed out has I was in a dead end job at the time. Re: FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round - Away to Tamworth or Hereford

It would be nice to think that all that ill luck, in never doing well in the cup for so long, could be paid back all in this one season, with us getting through on Saturday, and getting the bye in the first round proper. That special position plus a good draw in the second round might also be enough...

Re: Darlington V Boston

Given the shortage of available players this was a wonderfully unexpected result against a side that doesn't give too much away (only 10 goals against in 11 games before yesterday). Belief amongst the players is clearly growing and can survive, even when you are down to the squad's bare bones. And w...

Re: Leamington v Darlington

After a poor start to the season away from home it is very pleasing to see the signs of an improved way of managing a game. Whilst I am sure we would love to see the team boss every game and go for the opposition from the start, the early away games seem to have proved that if you do you can come un...

Looking at the highlights took me back two years when I was at the Alfreton away game. Liddle's incident remained me of a similar event in the first half back then when one of our players went down under a clear leading arm foul, which looked like a clear sending off, but the ref did nothing. Comparing him to Burn is daft. If it didn't work out then he leaves after the 3 month break and goes back to Iceland. Burn we are stuck with even when he was offered a very good deal by Whickham. It is easy to see that we are well short of being the team that AA set out to run with at the start of the season, and even with better luck with injuries it still may have been a tough season to make headway, especially in the opening rush of games. But we are where we are and have to try and make ...

O'Neill is most certainly a forward, but better than that a very good footballer who carries the ball well when surrounded by opponents. I have been amazed how often he manages to come away with the ball when it looks as if there is no way out. And he gives 100 per cent, which shows in the way he ha...

As our own club has been through the careless owner experience you can certainly sympathise with any set of fans, who like ourselves, hoped the control of the club was in safe hands. It is also clear to see how it is easy to get seduced by the availability of money to buy yourself some success. I st...
