Re: Netcafe - 14 December 2018
Couple of points from last night. The directors have run the club at a deficit and caused the need for loans and personal guarantees. They authorised the big wage earners have come in over the last two summers. Secondly, there appears no public record of winding up orders against the club which wou...

Re: Resignation...
I’ve been pondering this situation for a while whilst reading the comments with interest and would like to put forward my take on things. Firstly, are we in a position to hire a new manager? (obviously not at the moment as we have one in position but assuming we didn’t for a moment). Generally the p...

Re: Our accounts
Are our accounts published anywhere? It's just I stumbled upon this http://darlingtonfootballclub.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Annual-Review-and-Accounts-20151.pdf And it made for interesting reading. I just wondered if we'd done anything similar (or even just a more basic accounts release) sin...

I'm properly gutted I missed those promotions under Hodgy, I must have been in a coma at some point.snackweasle wrote:However he has been, in terms of progress upwards in the league structure, one of our best ever managers, and only Brian Little and Hodgy really compare.

Re: Harry Dunn
That's why a key question in the interview process needs to be around what support network the manager has around him in terms of coaching and scouting. One of the benefits of MG having the academy is that resource could be shared. As it was it ended up where the two things were too intertwined but ...

BradleyBlythe was apparently our Assistant Kit Manager. It's like on the film credits when you think....what do they do? I'm almost lost for words. Surely we didn't need a kit manager and an assistant kit manager for a club at our level? Depends who was getting paid by the club. I'd imagine one of ...

Re: York city supporters trust express concern
Looking at the JM Packaging Group accounts, they are owed £4,750,000 by York City FC (£4,000,000 a year earlier). The JM accounts state that the sale of Bootham Crescent, following their successful residential planning application, should cover this debt. However, the ongoing losses means that JM a...

Re: Who would you like to see take over?
Chris Hardy. I don't think we can realistically recruit from the same level, not with the ground the way it is and our inability to offer anyone a substantially better budget. If that was feasible and we still have any 'big club' pull I'd have said it might be worth having a look at Alun Armstrong....

Re: Atkinson and Gregan gone
A question re conflicts of interest. How does it work with our CEO, who is a business partner of York's manager. I'm not casting any aspersions at him, but the league didn't like a business link between 2 managers in their league, so will they like a business link between a manager and a CEO? One t...

Re: Atkinson and Gregan gone
Definite case of short term pain, long term gain. This was always going to happen when MG left due to how he was allowed to intertwine his business with the football club. I was always uncomfortable with this for a number of reasons but it's good to have a clean slate. Not sure how much business MGFA...

Re: York sack Mills
JUst because someone has a set period on their contract doesn't necessarily mean that there will be a large amount of compensation. I'd expect there will be get out clauses just like Pardew at Newcastle who had an 8 year deal but got nowhere near 8 years wages when he was sacked.

Re: Curzon Aston v Darlington match thread
Let's not forget that after agreeing a budget at the start of the season MG invited the players, directors and press along to his start of season meeting where he clearly stated that the aim was promotion. No if's or but's. Now things are going wrong the budget suddenly isn't enough.

Re: So, where do we go from here
Football is a competitive game and you’ve got to think about your squad. They want to play at the highest level they can, the staff have played at a higher level and they want to get back there. If you’re saying that you’re content to stay at this level then you’re not going to attract the best pla...

Re: So, where do we go from here
Spot on Spyman, whilst the run of results and the cup failure have brought things to the fore the debate around MG is more than just results. As you say he has more responsibility than that, especially in a fan owned club with finite resources. Personally whilst a good manager given the right resour...

There's hardly a rush until the ground improvements are fully funded and completed, as we couldn't go up anyway. It would make sense to just maintain our place in the division away from a relegation battle with any funds available used to ensure that when we're in a position to go up we actually ca...

Re: Martin Gray
Once we've funded the various ground improvements and the 5-year season tickets run out, I don't see why this has to be our ceiling. Our attendances are among the top end in the league - once we're on a level-playing field budget-wise without other priorities to finance then there's no reason we ca...

Anyway we cant rely on cartman to aid a vitally important fa cup run as hes cuptied after today. Please tell me you're joking?! Re: Seat Ground Development Fund for between £10 & £99
I would hope that a similar fund could be set up for terracing as well as this is a major issue now. It is not as big an issue as the ground grading though. Think we best concentrating on tackling the first hurdle before worrying about how you get over the 10th one otherwise we going to end up dilu...

To be fair the workout we had at York was probably tougher than most had midweek. Disappointing that having signed players to bulk up the squad during this 8 week period where we have 2 games a week they weren't used.

Re: York City v Darlo Match Thread
I'm aware of the ethos but I'm also aware that £100 is not achievable for many people. From the many, not the few. I completely agree that it shouldn't be down to a few, hence my suggestion. Also people don't necessarily want a repayable share, just to feel good that they contributed to that stand....
