Boost The Budget January 2024

DFCSG have launched ' Boost The Budget January 2024 ' this morning. The New Year begins with a new management team in place and renewed optimism for the future. DFCSG Directors debated long and hard the 'pros and cons' of launching a mid-season Boost the Budget, particularly after the record-breakin...

Re: The Squad Now

Barnes was happy to stay though, and could have been retained. Same with Felix. Sorry - I know it's a minor detail in wider context, but I keep seeing it and saying it by return - Kaine intimated in the summer, and secondly when Josh arrived, that the distance/commute wasn't working for him anymore...

Re: Peterborough V Darlington

Kaine very nearly left in the summer, as I understand it. Josh arrived and Kaine met with him to say the distance/travel wasn't working for him anymore (as Josh told us all in an interview with Ray), so he moved on to a local club (to him). As such, to imply we pushed him out the door isn't reflecti...

Re: Exactly a year ago……

I had a fair bit of sympathy with Alun at the start of this calendar year. At this level, having just three players like Beck, Lambert and Dodds all at the same time - all more than capable at being comfortable levels above - makes a massive, massive difference. They made other 'good' players at thi...

Re: GOWLING OUT

I think Ben Hedley is great - he's never let us down and done a great job at RB, LB and (on rare occasion) further up the pitch over the years. My hunch is that Josh doesn't see Ben as an out'n'out wing back, perhaps, hence the change in personnel at FB? And agree that Josh's decisions are there to ...

Re: GOWLING OUT

I was at the Fans' Forum in the Dolphin Centre when Alun was first appointed in 2019. One of the first things he talked about was signing local players, he explained that he felt that the club had lost its identity with players/management commuting long distances. The whole room applauded. Players ...

Re: GOWLING OUT

AA's first move was to sign the Blyth contingent, local lads who were proven at this level and who strengthened what we had already. He then added players from further afield to this over time. He certainly didn't bomb out half of Tommy's squad within weeks of his appointment. Fair play to the lads...

Re: GOWLING OUT

Just on player recruitment and geography, a fan who had emailed in to express some thoughts on the last few weeks shared the club's response on social media, which contained the following parag: "On player recruitment we have brought in two perm signings, Rowe & Ngandu, who are from the midlands and...

Re: Parallels

Maybe I'm being overly-picky and too sensitive, but a fair few online last night/this morning complaining about Griffiths playing in a back three - that kept a CS and him being a very solid part of it? Or am I missing something? It was our second CS of the season - I don't get why Robson, Griffiths,...

Re: Darlington V Blyth

It was a tactical substitution for formation/shape, as Josh said in his PMI. Granted he didn't bang two in and have us all chanting his name, but it was his first 45 minutes with his new club. A firm judgement based on that alone is pointless. Lindley hasn't even trained with us yet, but had a solid...

Re: Darlington V Blyth

Seeing lots of mixed/contradictory responses online to last night's game, to be honest. "We were set up not to concede..." - well, partly, thank goodness (and we didn't...), but also not entirely true given we did start with two up top and wing backs, so it wasn't ten-men behind the ball from minute...

Roxburgh, Gallacher and Doherty - just checked details and it is only for loan mind.
Michael Roxburgh - goalkeeper - son of sadly-departed Darlo fan Phil Roxburgh and a lad who used to be a DFC ballboy at Heritage Park.

Wouldn't it be some story if he ever lined up in the sticks for us.

Two fantastic appointments that can only have a positive additive. The fan base will benefit from this move, as will the club.

Andrew and Rob are DFC to their cores and, like 60 or so other volunteers, devote their time and energy to the club day-after-day for free.

I'm looking forward to watching the video again once we have it up on YC as, given where I was sat and working on the webinar tech/questions across the entire forum, I did only have one ear on a lot of the answers! Re: Best Darlo Loan XI - Thread

I think the Olivier Bernard issue shows up the difficulty of grafting top players onto a team who are not on the same wavelength. He struck me as the kind of player you hardly ever see at our level and used to a different standard. The other players don't always pick up on what they're doing. Peter...

Re: Best Darlo Loan XI - Thread

I think you're confusing Olivier Bernard with someone else, EDJOHNS? He was outstanding for us. I wasn't there, but I'm pretty sure he scored a wonder goal for us away at Torquay during his ten game loan spell with us. The performances I saw him put in at Feethams were excellent and it was obvious h...

Re: Best Darlo Loan XI - Thread

A bit late now but perhaps loan players who have then been signed on contracts straight/shortly after the loan would be excluded as they don't have the loan novelty. The goalkeepers list was really strong. We've been blessed with some excellent loan goalkeepers over the years. I reckon midfield wil...
