Re: New Manager Interviews this week

Otherwise he would have said 'all the names'. The names that are in contention have played for Darlington - is obvious enough to most. There is no absolute need to have said "all of the names", although it may have helped. He doesn't write 'the names' . He writes 'names' It's not hard, as you say.....

Re: New Manager Interviews this week

The Northern Echo understands that names are in contention at this stage have previously played for Darlington and an appointment will be made early next week - Echo While Stoddart's paragraph doesn't actually make sense (neither does the opening paragraph), I'm sure he doesn't actually mean that al...

Dave Penney was obviously a good manager? Hodgson also made us competitive every single year - I think it's unfair to question his ability.
No David Penney was not a good manager. He failed to get us promoted with a massive budget and then proved elsewhere how over-rated he was.

Looking forward to this one, 3rd away game in a row for me. Hopefully get something out of this, but my away record this season isn't the greatest. Spennymoor 2-2 Darlington. Kidderminster 5-2 Darlington. Ashton United 2-2 Darlington. FC United 1-2 Darlington. Bradford PA 2-2 Darlington. Chester 3-...

Probably because his performances were worse than shite. Regardless that he was doing it on the cheap (we were paying his expenses, so I was told), it doesn't change the fact he was useless as a player. There was a reason he was playing for peanuts with a team in the National League relegation zone...

Re: Piece on us in the new When Saturday Comes

A good, well written read. Putting over our present position very well. I especially liked his observation of the Rugby club’s permanently faulty club clock, the one that sits inside a piece of brickwork above the clubhouse roof. This clock as we all know is either set at the wrong time or stuck st...

i think our side is too lightweight in the middle. Next season im hoping we go for something a little more physical in the middle. Will be a key year for Tommy next year ... his signings havent worked out as planned this year. Ainge - knackered - immobile and unfit Hughes - cant play in midfield wh...

Tezza - I'm more than happy for people to have a go at me if they wish. Everyone else can do it without bringing someone's mental health into it. It's quite something when his two-week spell is still longer than two of our previous managerial reigns (Kidd - 11 days and Atkinson/Gregan - 5 days). You just know what's going to happen on Saturday now don't you! Oh completely. If you were a club in crisis, we are your perfect opponents right now...

It was excellent but we need to stop handing teams easy goals.

I don't think Tommy would be too impressed with Brackley's goals on Saturday.

Gray managed to do this in the early days, but then lost the plot with the long diagonal hoofball of later games[/quote]

I'm not sure he lost the plot. He had simply reached his limit talentwise, and when plan A didn't work, his only plan B was to revert to hoofball.

It wasn't Match of the Day. It was a local news programme and the number of chances that a non-league team created in a meaningless (to the wider public) match is irrelevant for a platform such as this.

Re: Tommy wants 3 new players

Replace Syers with Hughes and you won’t be far away. I expect Wheatley and Hughes to be our first choice central midfield pairing. I know Hughes has had some issues of late but the lad has played 50 times in the league and over 100 times in the National. He’s only mid twenties so he could be a big ...

The difference being that at a higher level players more frequently have the abilities / nous / physical characteristics to nullify those tactics.

And Gray had no successful plan B other than hoofball - and has not throughout his managerial career.
