Just double checked my Curzon Ashton programme according to the team sheet Paul brown was the referee.
It was Nathaniel Cox, he did the York away game last season when he had a shocker.

Re: Southport Highlights

Paul Brown - think people can judge for themselves.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think the ref had a bad game on Saturday. A few decisions which were not given for both sides but that happens at this level.

From the Northern Echo: He elaborated after Saturday’s match, during which Laing enjoyed a solid game, saying: “People were ringing me and sending me stuff they’d seen and it’s unbelievable. Two games. Laingy was getting the brunt of it and I was absolutely flabbergasted. “Things happen off the fiel...

Re: Trotman out for the season

What a blow, especially so early on in the season with the games coming thick & fast. I expect Liddle will move over to right-back and Watson will fill-in at left-back. Galbraith can be used to cover LB if needed and Atkinson to cover RB. We really need to get Atkinson & Wheatley somewhere near to f...

I like Holness, but I really don't think he's an attacking player.

God I hate 352. You lose all your attacking width and nobody knows who is marking who.

I'd go...

Elliott
Watson - galbraith - laing - liddle
Atkinson - Hatfield
Thompson - holness - rivers
Campbell
Holness playing just behind Campbell?!

Re: Saturday

AA mentioned in his post-match interview that Donawa has played wing-back before.

3-5-2 could be an option, AA has used this before at Blyth but to shore things up away from home.

I'd like to see a similar shape again. Liddle in for Trotman, O'Neill in for Holmes.

Re: Gateshead game...

Of course Gateshead centre-half’s dealt with Campbell better. Williamson was outstanding and so he should be - 2 years ago he was a Championship player and the season before that he was in the Premier League. We shouldn’t be comparing their defence to ours because of that very reason. Of course it’s...

Laing is the new whipping boy I see. Did very little wrong yet his partner alongside him is exempt from any form of criticism. Laing was abysmal tonight. Was I watching a completely different game tonight? Yes there's a few stray passes which will happen when you're trying to play out from the back...

Re: Gateshead game...

TW didn’t have to sell until match 14 of the season, by which point we were out of the FA Cup and our form was 4-4-5 from our opening 13 games.

Incidentally that works out at a PPG of 51; we finished on 50.

TW had to sell, but we were hardly doing well before he had to.

Incoming from a Championship club on loan according to the Echo. Trained last night and will be involved tomorrow.

Glover gave the ball away too many times last night, we also weren’t as disciplined in the middle second half than first. Decent technically but we have at least 3 centre midfielders ahead of him at the moment with AA looking to bring another in. I think thats sightly harsh, he gave the ball away j...

We can’t just go around demanding statements from the board about minor things. The pitch was dry and knackered looking for one pre-season game. I’m sure it hasn’t escaped the boards notice, and would trust they are actively seeking to rectify it. Presumably by trying to cultivate a positive relati...

Thompson is fairly decent in the air, believe it or not. Armstrong wants to play him centrally, but I wouldn't be adverse to Thompson drifting out wide on set-pieces and move Rivers in-field temporarily.

It just looked in dire need of some watering. Surely they have sprinklers anyway, get someone in to turn the things on every day at the state it is now, and it might recover a bit for the seasons start. I’d imagine that’ll be a lot worse to play rugby than football on when it’s dry, so it’s in thei...
