No, he isn’t. It’s basic employment law that an employer can’t reject a resignation on a fixed-term or permanent contract.

Re: Blyth statement

The legal evidence is that legally a company can’t reject a resignation whether it is a fixed-term or permanent contract. Bottom line.

Please provide clear evidence where a resignation was refused on the basis that they were employed on a fixed-term contract?

Like Super_Les points out, football clubs pay for the registration with the relevant FA.

is there a reason why its only open until 31st May? surely it should run throughout the close season?
The club will need to know where they stand financially as early as possible, so they can appropriately forecast for this.

Re: Boost The Budget 19/20

60% now hit.

£48,057 raised towards our target.

I’ll be increasing my DD once the new manager is in place, as I expect there’ll be a mini-surge once we have appointed.

Re: New Manager Poll

Well of course, but realistically there are several managers we could bring in with much more experience of this level and a history of building solid teams and getting results.

Like I said, he would be a massive risk.

Re: New Manager Poll

Ah, my mistake. Still, 2 whole leagues. Surely the principles he has successfully applied at Dunston are transferable to a higher league team? We bang on about utilising the NL more for young upcoming players, yet I would think the gulf in quality is less relevant to a manager than a player. 2 whol...

Re: Wright has left the building

What exactly do we need to carry over for “continuity”? This season has been a bit of a disaster with poor recruitment, questionable tactics & selections. Our defence is poor having dropped 24 points from winning positions this season, we also dropped 18 last season too. I loved AW as a player, and ...

Re: Squad for Next Season

Football is a game of options and this is especially true regarding Burn. Tommy initially claimed he would build his team around him, but fell out with him behind the scenes big-style and we've barely seen him. I can't say he chronically underperformed as he simply hasn't played and looked okay, al...

Re: Squad for Next Season

Burn definitely signed a 2 year deal, but Henshall and Maddison were 1 year so they will inevitably be leaving. I think Elliott and Nicholson are 1 year, but maybe we have a 1 year option on them. If we don't have an option I would definitely expect Nicholson to end up elsewhere and perhaps Elliott...

Sounds like Maddison is leaving from his latest tweet. Also seems like Bascome & Holness won’t be here next year too based on comments on Twitter from John Woolnough. GK.Jonny Maddison (Rumoured to be leaving) DF.Luke Trotman (Contracted until 2020) DF.Simon Ainge (Contracted until 2020) DF.Terry Ga...

Re: BM or HP

BM for me will only improve when: •There is step-terracing at the open-end (covered or uncovered) •The playing surface is improved (probably going to need to invest in a sprinkler system). •The catering is improved. At the moment it is over-priced and awful. I’m surprised at how little the grass ban...

Re: Wright has left the building

I think they were words of a man trying to protect his own interests. I think deep-down he knows that the recruitment last summer wasn’t good enough and that poor performances did reduce attendances. A really likeable person though and I wish him all the best for the future. Certainly has his streng...

Re: Time for Gray to finish the job.....

I think a shock is in store for whoever is coming in, they will have to have a big heart and a shrewd business brain to balance the equilibrium required by the fans of this football club, most cannot seem to realise we couldn't afford the jump to national level yet, yes get us a cup run and a playo...

Re: New Manager Poll

What’s the fascination with Swailes?

Granted he has done well with Dunston this season, and had a very good cup run, but there is a gulf in quality between the Northern League & Conference North. It would be a risk, especially if the likes of Armstrong, Aspin, Bower & Flanagan are interested.

Re: Darlington V Bradford PA

We seem to have quite a few quitters amongst the fan base now, some quitting if Wright stays, some quitting if Gray returns. How about just support the team no matter who is the manager? It's not the same, it's not MGs managerial ability, which hasn't exactly shone since he left us, it's about his ...

Re: Darlington V Bradford PA

I had a search through the net cafe archives. I couldn’t find my question but found an answer to someone else relating to the Gray issue, and Beano I do see your point. It would seem that Gray had a period of notice he had to work through. D.J could have held him to that and told York that if they ...

Re: Darlington V Bradford PA

So Gray had a contract that allowed him to leave the very next day? Really..... This does not tie in with the answer that D.J. gave to me in a recent fans forum, I will see if I can find it. Gray had a clause in his contract which stated that DFC would be entitled to compensation if he moved to a c...

DJ was fully aware that Gray was going to York and, under the terms of Gray’s contract, we wouldn’t have been entitled to any compensation. I don’t see the issue, or would you have preferred Gray to stick around longer to work a notice period?
