MLS

Was watching this quite interesting piece on UK attitudes to MLS, and was surprised when a Darlo fan was interviewed at 8.45.

Re: Best ever Darlo players (Northern Echo)

The problem with these things is that although it's all time eleven and manager the vast majority of the votes will be for recent people. Only a small proportion of the current support saw anyone before the 90s. Naturally they will vote for people they know.

Re: Darlo Fans Radio - Tech help needed

Thanks for the advice guys. After a lot of grief and various tries I enventually got it working. What worked for me was Selecting "Tools", "Internet Options", then the "Advanced" Tab. On that tab select "Reset Internet explorer settings". After restarting the PC, bingo - it worked. One unwanted side...

Mr Tibbs & TFDM

Thanks for the help guys. I should have said that I'm using IE11. I was rather hoping to get it working in that. as I don't want to clutter my system with multiple browsers. Shockwave Flash Object is enabled in add-ons and ActiveX filtering is off.

Darlo Fans Radio - Tech help needed

Unfortunately I couldn't pick up the audio last night as my system got stuck on Loading... It appears that other people had similar problems too. I've subsequently found that I can't play any other radio stations on Mixlr either. I had no problem with the previous platform used by Darlo fans Radio, ...

Re: Curzon Ashton v Darlo Match Thread

Darlo Fans Radio - I get stuck on Loading too.. The problem appears to be to do with Flash Player. Mixlr doesn't think I've got it installed, but the Adobe help page tells me I've got the latest version installed. If I try and install Flash player again through the button on the Mixlr page, it just ...

Good to see the book has finally appeared. The picture on the front cover representing 1966 is of John Peverell. However they played in plain white shirts in 65/66. The hoops sported by Pev are from a later season.

I simply couldn't believe my eyes :o On page 73 of the latest issue, under the heading "TEAM STRIPPED" there they all are. I recognised Thommo first, then Dowson, and then it became clear -- this is the Darlo team. It could become a bit of a collectors issue I feel, especially with the ladies! Turn...

.... I know when we've looked at these in the past, there are usually one or two subtle changes which the FA tweak up. They do their restructuring meeting on Thursday this week so it will be interesting to see if Stourbridge and Halesowen DO move south and Kings Lynn stay put. Seems about right I g...

I remember going down on the train to watch this game... we played better than the score suggested

I went to that one too and agree with you on that. I've still got the match programme - picture of Trevor Brooking on the back.

Re: DARLO vs TEAMS IN THE CURRENT PREMIER LEAGUE

Leicester City - Played them at home in the second round of the League Cup, 4/9/68. We lost 2-1. The Despatch had a photo of Lance Robson blasting the ball past Peter Shilton. He was well off-side but the photo looked so good the Despatch used it for ages afterwards. I can't remember the scorers but...

The Reading equaliser was punched in Maradona style by Andre Bikey. Then in the shootout Stockdale saved the first penalty but the ref gave Reading a retake, saying he had moved too early. The shootout didn't finish until after 11pm I was at the game. It was Peter Mate who handballed it in for Read...

Modern programmes don't sell, except for specials such as rare friendlies. Just look at how many go unsold on Ebay. You have to go back to the 50s before people are prepared to part with their money.

There most likely will be a sanction from the league for us being late tonight. No doubt there are league rules to be applied here. Anyone know any more?

Darlington Train Nameplate

What has happened to the "Darlington" train nameplate that used to be (or still is?) on display in the Arena reception? Was it included in the assets purchased by 1883? Such nameplates are highly sought after by railway memorabilia collectors and it could be worth £10-20k. What are the future plans ...
