Re: Boost the budget

And to be fair, I thought the 100k target this time around, considering the circumstances and uncertainty, was going to be a tough sell.

I feared we'd get nowhere near, and who could blame anyone? But those fears were put to bed in less than 24 hours of launch.

Re: New deal for, Donawa , Hatfield, Rivers, Holmes Hedley

Finished 11th in league let’s sign them all back on We'd have finished 7-9th, a point or two behind Spendy. We had huge injury problems throughout and the core squad is more than capable of finishing 7th-9th next season. Could we do with a couple of better players? Say a better keeper? A commanding...

Re: Potential new signings

Well Styche and Ainge are gone and we won't be offering that sort of money again, we simply couldn't afford Styche and had to sell him. I can believe our top, top few players might be on 500 as you suggested - we do have a c250k playing budget, but it's also an amount that you can't pay too many pla...

Re: Potential new signings

Maguire is on 900 a week good luck on that one. Jameson will be at york next season. It took £900 a week to turn down the astronomical signing on fee he was offered by the Pride last summer. Before he signed for York there was rumours that the pride had offered him 950 a week and 20k to sign on. Bu...

And looking at the GAS acounts, it's not exactly a money making machine. Circa £1m profit per annum means any Spennymoor subsidy is a significant drain. Groves must be very keen.
I'd say £1 million clear profit each year after all costs is pretty good like!

Re: Thommo

Owes us nothing, maybe the opportunity for more regular starts and less onerous travelling demands mean its the right decision for him, and probably for the club as well. Wish him well wherever he goes, except Spenny - he wouldn't, would he? If he couldn't get in our team then he's not going to get...

Re: Potential new signings

No need to apologise, I should have been clearer in what I typed - just a little misunderstanding. Connell initially looked good and there was a bit of a buzz about the FA Cup run which of course he was involved in and made some great saves, and therefor a buzz about him. Initially I thought "how ca...

Re: Raj Singh

Interesting to note Radged say that he committed £1m to tidy things up, then hopefully with Jeff Stelling fronting things, they'd be able to bring further investors in, which hasn't happened - leaving poor old Radged putting more money in. Radged of course is failing to acknowledge the elephant in t...

Re: Potential new signings

I would keep Reid. Intelligent player with a physical presence who can play across a number of positions in the side. In fact, I don’t think the question should be asked of keeping him or Hedley. Both are good enough and will stay. In terms of Elliott, I was hammered for saying he would cost us poi...

Re: Thommo

Very sad if true.

I just remember how unbelievable he was in the first 2 or 3 seasons especially. The Northern League was way, way, way, WAY below his level of ability and that is one of the reasons why we smashed that league like it's never been smashed before, nor ever will be smashed again.

Re: Chris Elliott

Thanks to both players for their services. Ainge was a wage we simply couldn't afford. Elliott really staked a claim to be No.1 next season in his spell from January onward. And then undid it all all in the space of 90 minutes, in our last match. Once that was seen it couldn't be unseen, and would ...

Re: Potential new signings

I would like a big 6'3+ head it and kick it defender, but I dont think it makes financial sense to add a 4th CB especially when Reid can fill in in emergencies, so could see that being a one in one out situation, but then who would be let go? Either Galbraith or Laing. Neither are going to get any ...

Maybe any refund money from last season for 4 missed games on season tickets and car park fees could be added to the total.
As long as people don’t need it of course.
What refund money? Have people seriously been asking for money back?

Re: Boost the budget

Awesome start as to be expected. I will be increasing my pledge slightly because I believe that Alun will spend wisely on good players, as shown last season. One slight misgiving is no target has been set, why? Darlo fans love a target. Another slight concern is it comes across a bit defeatist when ...

Re: Our banana munching "friends"

I think the ape abusers are a bit safer than what we were at the time Radged was our chairman. 1 Their crowds are 3,000+, our were just under 2,000 - so there is more income there. 2 I imagine that Vic Park doesn't cost as much to run as the Arena did - so less expense there. More income + less expe...

Re: New initiative by the club 'Virtual Tickets'

My take on the information that accompanied the announcement of the scheme is that if the season resumes in May then the players will need to be paid for an additional month, possibly two. Therefore the additional cost of the players wages would need to be borne by the Club owner. That's a good poi...

We’re without a doubt more exposed because of the fact we’re heavily reliant on gate income. I don't think it's as bad as you think regarding gate income because more than half of it comes through season ticket holders who have of course paid for the whole season. Regarding total income, obviously ...

Adam Boyes placed over 2,000 bets, I'm thinking that there could be a lengthy ban there. I fancied that we might go for him over the summer, could be in a bit of jeopardy now de...
