Re: Brackley V Darlington

I wasn't going to but, I just watched the highlights , my advice is don't , it will destroy any hope you might have for Wednesday. [*] Thanks for the warning, but a bit late for me. Hot knife through butter in the first half with a lack of tackles upfield & letting them run at pace down to our box,...

Re: Tough one to call....Wednesday's game

I agree with Old Git on this as the balance of expectation seems to be moving Walsall's way. This may suit us as 'underdogs' but it may be to do with Saturdays game - which I didn't see - when - 'Players were quite understandably half-hearted. When the atmosphere is cranked up again on Weds they'll ...

Re: The Squad for Brackley and FA Cup

Armstrong has had bad luck this season but it hasn't stopped him revitalizing the club. I haven't known a manager at Quakers so good at getting the team to play for a long time. Mark Cooper in the cup might have been the last one. AA is so good he's stopped me pining for you know who.

Re: The Magic W's

As Roy Hodgson might say - we also played Wiverpool in our roaring twenties heyday. Applauded off by an appreciative Kop after a gallant 1-0 defeat in the cup. Also we should allow Wednesday after that 40 yard winner in the league cup. Before the league cup lost its lustre.

Re: Second Round Draw

Not being a doom merchant but I'll be surprised if we reach the 2nd round, reason being that historically lower league teams normally fail on their second bite of the cherry against a higher team. Cup shocks normally have to be done on the day or generally the chance has passed. There is a preceden...

No need to get our disappointment in early. The award is from the league - nobody can predict the magic of you know what. It's been a while since it felt so good around the club and the fans will be an extra man on Saturday.

Currie was pretty good but Gary McDonald often caught my eye in that team and hes Cup thread quality on account of the Boro games.

Thanks for that - immortal stuff, the pathe film makes it look real end to end and it's nice to see clips of our gallant fans. Jimmy Greaves who played in the drawn game at Stamford Bridge, covers this match well in his auto.biography. My Father and most of my uncles were at the game and they all ra...

My downer on Styche is he was a big timer in a moderate team I have to salute his goal scoring but he wasn't a team player and should have helped the others more - would we have him back now?

Re: Hereford....

I don't think we should be calling Nicholson unkind names because he did well for us. Also, wanting to clatter him betrays some insecurity we shouldn't be feeling. This Quakers side can play them off the pitch - now as for that big girls blouse they've got up front a few hearty challenges wouldn't g...

having thumbed through my copy of frank tweddles ' Quakers make history' : chapter two 'those roaring twenties' it seems that we won six on the bounce in 1924-25 so we're on course to make more history. and there's still the English cup - what a team. :D

unusual to see these days. I know in the olden days, folk would alternate between watching different clubs in the same city. This might merit a different thread - something to do with where is the love? - but in the old days - Boxing Day 1966, Feethams was stuffed with so many fans to see us play lo...

I thought Harry played that one with a straight bat but their lousy form can't last and beware the change of manager effect - if they do sack Clark. This is a game for us to win though, there's only a league between us at present and the general feeling around Quakers is light years from this time l...

chandler's a bad lad. i think the mail should take an interest in this example of why the fabric of society is crumbling -what with the gascoigne affair last week it's important that they found something good coming from the region and took the trouble to produce a decent piece. in fact, quakers mig...

Nott's County at Meadow Lane. Saturdays form would sweep them away. I doubt there's a better player than , O'Neill at level 5 - is he a relative of Les? As for glory hunters, it's good to have worth hunting. Quakers just keep getting better.

I know we're getting our disappointment in first here but if it's Hereford we can be the underdogs and if it's Tamworth we can play them off the park. Also we've remembered how to win away so ... away the lads.

Re: FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round - Away to Tamworth or Hereford

There are reasons why Quakers can win this or at least get a re-play; playing well with confidence, excellent team spirit and on Saturdays showing a very good goalie. I'm assuming Hereford will get through but Tamworth kept them out once and the magic of the cup shone on good old Whitby who should m...

Get well soon, eh? There's lots for him to ponder with two big jobs likely to come up in the region - both with money available and him and Mike Ashley were made for each other. At the moment Quakers must be playing the best football in the north east so once more; well done AA and theteam.

Thanks Emdubya - I got it. All the young dudes in Darlo's dressing room are singing the same song these days. When TW led the band it was more like the Soft Machine on a bad day, anyway the Boro' job will be available soon - they could do worse.

I think AA has shown his experience and ability in the dressing room because the vibes and spirit are really kicking in. Its a rebuild season, just stay up and maybe just maybe win a cup game will do me this season. Some money from a cup run could boost funds a bit too. Fair comment I think. It's definitely possible to beat York on Saturday but if we don't I hope the discontent glimpsed on other threads doesn't build because my opinion is that despite not being much better off than this time last year we are in a much improved place and have had poor luck. We are fitter and look much mo...

I was absolutely delighted with last night's victory however my one gripe is the amount of short corners we are taking and 50 per cent of the time screwing them up and wasting our advantage by losing possession rivers is one of the best crossers of a ball we have had in a long time so I wish he wou...

I was pleased to hear my suggestion for Quakers show-biz affiliations being followed up on Monday with Doris Day belting it out before the match - and in a way Doris is dead right; what will be will be. I believe AA has done so well to pick the club up that maybe, just sometimes, it's easy to be unr...
