Re: Once the dust settles...

I think we would come straight back down if ever promoted with our current finances, however that's football and if that happens then so be it. I noted the post from Hari Krishna last week and he seems to be getting some followers. You can take good Karma too far - 'if that's football ... then so b...

We can laugh about it now - along with him - but once the club starts to reflect on this season something needs to be learned from that appointment, and his injury prone big money striker.

Have to admit I am quietly confident of a positive result today, we are in good form, Farsley are in poor form.
There you go, really good confident performance.
Well done Pete - you've been a beacon of hope this season- enjoy the summer.

Re: So who do you want to be relegated Blyth or Farsley>

I guess most people on here would prefer Blyth to stay up. But personally I think Farsley would be far less of a threat next season and I think Blyth could offer a lot more competition for players in this region, especially if they get this new investor on board. I'd prefer Blyth to stay up; local ...

You've been on that Hari Krishna thread too, anything to quell the collywobbles today.

Re: David Hodgson Interview

Yes, he did a lot to give the club a likeable image with the things he said - I remember him managing to get noticed on the Today programme with a magical realist rant about having the best set of players in the division but they were all up for sale because they wouldn't play. Jim Naughtie found it...

I agree with OG on this one. Mistakes were made and then put right. No point in wasting energy on Gowling and his horror show. Time to move on? Naturally JG & AA will continue to be discussed on here because they’re a big part of why we’re still in this position. It’s when they’re being needlessly ...

Re: David Hodgson Interview

To call this an interview is a stretch, it’s more Hodgie stringing together a series of stories that illustrate that the world of football is full of dubious characters and dubious goings on, including (it seems) himself. I like Hodgie, he did well for us, and this is quite interesting though. I al...

Re: The Bottom Ten, Tuesday Apr 09th 2024

So, if I'm looking at this correctly, we beat Farsley on Sat and we are mathematically safe as, regardless of what Blyth do in their last two games, Farsley won't be able to catch us. Correct. It's a big old game. I'm sure this Darlo side will deal with the pressure and I also hope beating Farsley ...

I don't mean to be funny but what the feck's holding that stand up at the back.... https://x.com/DarloFansRadio/status/1774903141227549172?s=20 HA 😀 it looks iffy but in fact there’s a horizontal scaffolding pole running along the back with frequent uprights giving it strength. Re: Jarrett Rivers

For those old enough to remember he reminds me of Joe Rayment. That really is a stretch - my Father used to like Raiment, was he in the side that beat West Ham in the old League Cup? Rivers does sometimes remind me of Harry Kirk, a great dribbler who soaked up the punishment and was a fans favourite.

We really need to keep them - is there any way we can bin off Asante and use the money to get them on attractive contracts? The old one about ...

I've always liked Rivers - flair players can sometimes get squeezed out when it gets rough but he's always put the effort in, and been a good clubman. With him and Main on song defenders get plenty to think about and it's great to watch. :P :)

Re: Easter Monday at Warrington Town

I see this as the big one - avoid defeat and we can look up. They seem to be a reasonable side but it's realistic to travel with hope - our lot are capable of getting something and really deserve to. If York City can beat the drop so can we.

I sense that we're all feeling a bit agitated after the last two results and the realisation that tomorrows game is the big one. I foolishly forecast a 2-0 win against Chorley but we might have got something without the two game changers in the first half. We really needed a Russian linesman and a p...

So again what is the alternative just shout into the echo chamber "this is terrible" "this was a bad decis...

Is it possible for Lol36.. to get himself on the list for some of our matches - anything to help with our run-in. The angst involved is worse than 'promotion paralysis'. My own worst case is that Farsley can only get better and put some beef into it when they come. :shifty:

I wonder if Asante comes into the reckoning for this match. Maybe a place on the bench. Not sure why we’d want him on the bench - for me Main , Nelson , Curry and Rutledge should all be in the side before him (if fit ) We need togetherness and team spirit You seem to be suggesting that Asante's inc...

Re: Darlington V Chorley

What we need to aim for is to start the game in the manner that we went about the Scunny game. Chorley have occasionally been slow starters, as in their last match against Boston, and we need to get at them from the off with help from what should be a decent crowd. It would be good to go some way t...

The threads about Asante are like his time on the pitch - elusive and easy to miss. This new soccer ombudsman could look at this one. Has there been a bigger waste of money at Quakers? Even Bernie Slaven jogged around a match and scored sometimes. Nick Pickering? Biggest disappointment ever for me....

I don't think there'll be too much complacency in Steve Watson's dressing-room but I agree that a point at Rushall would be acceptable. Another 'ugly' 1-0 for us could be on the cards too but this might be Rushall's last chance so expect a battle either way. 8-)

Me personally I would go full strength at Rushall and hopefully get the win which realistically barring a complete capitulation would see us pretty much safe. Then I'd be giving a day off to the likes of Barrow, Main, Cornish in the Chorley game. Are you stupid? The lads are being ran into the grou...

The ideal scenario for the next two matches is for us to beat Peterborough Sports and ideally Kings Lynn to beat Rushall on Saturday. Follow that up by beating Rushall and I'd say we'll be practically there, obviously not mathematically but we'd have a reasonable cushion with wriggle room to find a...
