The type of relationship is landlord and tenant we know that. It's the same as we had with Bishop and realistically all we could hope for from the arena.
True, but maybe at the Arena we might be allowed a sign  ;)

Re: Sports village

The units do...the front of the stadium does does it? It says Welcome to...and the in a shared sign lists Mowden + all occupants? And actually looking at google maps this does appear to be the case. Mowden park have a sign, and the tennants in the units also appear to have a sign. Albeit this is fr...

The units do...the front of the stadium does does it? It says Welcome to...and the in a shared sign lists Mowden + all occupants? I don't know as I don't live in Darlington so havent been near the Arena for ages, but I doubt it. But then we aren't allowed a football specific sign (or, to avoid misu...

Re: Sports village

Yes because I was legitimately suggesting this was "about" Spennymoor. The point was about the standard of the signs. Had the original poster meant it but a league standard "Welcome to Darlington FC" is fictitious. A "Welcome to Darlington" sign is per the league requirement - we decided that we wa...

Re: Sports village

Maybe they did, and I actually can understand if the rugby club are wary of losing their identity in the face of the much bigger football club. But the point remains we have spent a small fortune at BM and we haven't reached a stage where the rugby club will permit us to have permanent signage that ...

Re: Sports village

However, the standard league 'Welcome to Darlington FC' sign had to be removed and changed so that it wasn't football specific. Ah you mean those standard signs that every team has which says welcome to "team name" FC... Bit like this one. https://images.app.goo.gl/2zcBRWBoeQojcQh16 Must have been ...

Re: Sports village

Do we know that a sign is actually down to the Rugby Club? I do not know about a roadside sign, although I would have thought we would have enquired and someone would have said no - hence the removable ones we have to put up. Maybe the council have indeed said no, although I'd struggle to see why. ...

Re: Sports village

I can't see us raising the money for a new ground entirely from the fanbase in any sort of reasonable time frame. We've done superbly to raise what we've raised in the last 8 years. Is it about £1.3m? But we'd need far more than that for a new ground. I can't see why we'd suddenly get a better deal ...

Re: Sports village

Got to admire the boldness of Mowden Park wanting £17m from the council  I don't think it's partcularly good news for our club though - it removes leverage we potentialy had to get a better deal with DRFC. Now they can sit and play hardball as we have no other options, like they seemingly did w...

Re: Potential new signings

I was queuing for a haircut this morning & I was talking to a chap who's been going to watch Darlo for years. He said that we are trying to get a keeper from Wigan, who was born in this area, but he didn't know his name. Also no surprise to hear that we are after O.Neill from Boro. They don't have ...

He had 5 in 10, and we were awful. He only had a few games back after being away on international duty before being sold. 3 of those were in one game to be fair. That game didn't half provide false hope for the season  Styche was a good player and played a huge role in us staying up that seaso...

2,000 attendees? I thought we were averaging about 1,300 these days.

Im sure darlington would struggle to get 1000 had they not been in the football league in there previous incarnation

Re: New deal for,Donawa, Hatfield , Rivers, Holmes, Hedley,Reid, Storey, Campbell, Laing, Wheatley, Liddle

I think the dilemma for York is that they are already losing a load of money (£900k per year apparently) that McGill covers out of his own pocket. Well, until Bootham Crescent gets sold then he gets it back. Offsets Yorks losses against his packaging co profits saving a fortune in tax. Will he pay ...

Re: New deal for Donawa, Hatfield, Rivers, Holmes,Hedley,Reid, Storey, Campbell, Laing, Wheatley

We are in a better position but Andy Holt at Accrington has basically confirmed that the EFL aren't able to offer any contract extensions at the moment due to that uncertainty. That means you have potentially 50% of players who do not know if they have a future in full time football. Are we really ...

One thing I’ve never understood with certain Spenny fans is why they’re so keen to deny they’re bankrolled. I don’t get it. It’s actually more effective to just admit it, as it shuts down that line of attack much quicker. “We’re bankrolled, so what?” There’s not actually any issue with them living ...
