Re: Season VOIDED

I think this thread is quite a measured view on why even PPG isn't perfect. Also seems to suggest 45/60 clubs who signed the letter would be promoted under PPG - not really a surprise they think it is unfair. https://twitter.com/DaleJohnsonESPN/status/1244972439957889026?s=19 I think it was always ...

Re: Season VOIDED

I don't think voiding the season is the easy option - I just think, from what I've seen and read anyway, it's the most realistically workable solution. You’ve just used more words to describe ‘easy’! No I haven't - being realistic is not the same as being easy. All potential decisions are difficult...

Re: Season VOIDED

The FA may well be able to stop transfers, but can they supercede contract law? And if contracts were suspended and then resumed in, say October, we'd have our current wage bill, yet no guarantee that we'd have the income to cover it. Gate receipts could be dramatically down, boost the budget could ...

Re: Season VOIDED

Those who say this season should be voided have not come up with a sensible suggestion should this problem last into, or reoccur next season. To suggest just playing each other once is just plain bonkers. As has been shown already, large amounts of money have been spent by teams at all levels to ge...

Re: Season VOIDED

There's no easy solutions that's for sure. Anyone who claims its obvious what to do is misguided in my opinion. Whatever happens there will be winners and losers, and huge challenges for some clubs. I'm personally of the opinion that voiding it is the least worst option as it's seemingly going to be...

Re: Our banana munching "friends"

I'm sure, if owners putting money into football club to keep things going is such a bad thing, PJ Poolie will be encouraging Raj Singh not to put any money into Hartlepool over this period. Of course, this would mean Hartlepool go bust, but there we go.

Re: Season VOIDED

The chairman is gutted after spending a stack of cash on the squad to get Shields up this season and now threatening legal action. I don't think he'll get anywhere with that. Obviously it must be frustrating if you are close to promotion, but I'd struggle to morally support a club resorting to lega...

Re: Coronavirus and DFC

I presume an issue is with part-time contracts being 40 weeks long and expiring at the end of April (I think?). If we could get things finished in May then I'm sure something could be sorted out. But what if it's August or even later before we can play football again? Will we be forced to keep the s...

I've got a season ticket so the club has my money already . It ain't losing out financially on my money *if* the season is cancelled - I am. Also I BTB and will continue to do so. That's enough for me though, this is a step too far. Obviously, it needs to be pay on day fans that need to be financin...

Re: The moment we've all been waiting for...

But you still haven't explained how Darlington will emerge in a better position than other clubs following the corona virus outbreak? On this point, it wouldn't be hugely surprising if a few benefactors get through this and realise they can't (or don't want to) chuck money into a football club for ...

Re: Darlington V Farsley

That’s where we are as a side at the moment. Very good in midfield, but miss too many chances and we concede too many soft goals. It’s a shame as it’ll cost us a playoff spot in the end I think. Armstrong will know that, and I’m sure he’ll already be thinking of how to fix it for next season.

Re: Coronavirus and DFC

Considering the money kicking about elite football (Premier League clubs have over £1billion in the bank between them apparently), you'd hope there could be some sort of help for clubs at the bottom end of the pyramid who need it. Advances in gate receipts, repayed whenever the games get played, som...

Re: AGM

I believe these 2 points aren't helped by the facilities available to us at BM though, No, but the point is we had more takers last season without dedicated resource on it. So we know we at least have that latent demand to tap into and we are not even appealing to them . The fact of the matter prod...

Re: AGM

It appears to me it’s the rugby club who are laughing all the way to the bank. So if we want to grow then there are really three elements to it; 1. Maximise commercial returns at BM. Until we do this it's foolish to think we'd maximise them anywhere else, if you are not working at capacity in curre...

OK thanks - and good points. Sobering I guess, particularly when there's seemingly no obvious ways to dramatically increase our revenue with no facility to make work for us*. Re: AGM

Am I reading it correctly that we are still running at a (presumably substantial) loss (if its taking BtB and DJs investment to bridge it), despite bringing in 123k from the cup? Worrying if so. Or is the exceptional income not included in operating P+L?

I’m more interested to know what his contract situation is - whether he’ll become a free agent in the summer or not. Not that bothered about another loan spell this season but if we could somehow get him in for next season permanently it would be a seriously good signing. He obviously gets on with ...

Re: Spennymoor Players - Charged with betting offences

The response to this from Spendy fans is incredible. Remember, the players have all admitted to it. I’m paraphrasing here but they’re along the lines of: “Leave them alone, it’s only a bet”, “Other players will do it so it’s fine”, “How dare you even report this?” And my favourite is the guy claimi...

The question I would have though is whether they will be available after the 15th March? That + season tickets also on sale this month means theres a not insignificant amount of cash to find!
