Re: Update Required?

Talking of updated info, I have just been watching the Andrew Marr politics show on TV where he was interviewing Oliver Dowden, the Minister who has responsibility for Sport. He was questioned about the sports sector, and football in particular, being painted into a corner by the new restrictions, ...

Re: FA Cup Draw

Darlington now placed on the watchlist & if other affected areas is anything to go by, we'll be in lockdown in 3 or 4 days if not sooner. I can't see how fans will be allowed to see the game. Hope I'm wrong of course, it has been known to happen before. Agree with you Pete it looks inevitable that ...

Re: National League North statement

Good luck with trying to secure one vote per team across the whole of the National Leagues. Democracy in football politics always seems to be something different from most people’s idea of fairness and right. Will be a massive problem if clubs like ours are bullied into playing by the so called elit...

Re: SEASON POSTPONED?

Some valid points particularly about pubs: -Im really sick of hearing “we can sit in a packed pub but not go to football”. What packed pubs? Hardly as if a pub will have anywhere near the amount in of even a northern league Game. Have these idiots spouting this s*** been to a pub lately? -i think t...

Re: SEASON POSTPONED?

Unfortunately we may just have to accept that the season 20/21 is a nonstarter and think how can we protect our club and get through these unprecedented times. Can we effectively mothball the club and restart again when the all clear finally comes. I am sure others will come up with reasons why it w...

Re: Latest friendly

No need at all for the rusting Arena at all now. Why pay rent on 2 grounds when no fans allowed in either? Live streaming from our home ground of Blackwell meadows please... Won't happen as the Arena worshippers won't allow it and won't be happy till we are in admin again playing in the crook and d...

Re: Latest friendly

Not hopeful that the season will begin as scheduled. Looks increasingly likely to me that there will be no football at our level until 2021 unless we can survive via live streaming of games. Another possibility could be switching to a Summer Season say March to October 2021 to avoid the winter month...

The pitch has just been prepared recently so looks bare for now but will be in good nick by October 10th.

Don’t know but aren’t we supposed to hold two test events at the Arena before the season starts. If so they will need to happen soon.

Re: Help required, to clean the Arena

Interesting to see inside the Arena again. Overall impression was not too bad. Yes the seats are faded but still in good working order and I think it will suit our needs in the current situation. Main concern looks to be the playing surface which has been reseeded but does not look great and there s...

Blyth Spartans

Just seen on local BBC news Blyth’s game at Pooly tomorrow called off as one of their players has tested positive for Covid. Reported that their squad now have to isolate for 14 days which will surely have a massive impact on their pre season preparations.

Looking bad for the north-east, apart from us & Teesside, as restrictions are placed on nearly 2 million people. Looks only a matter of time before Darlington and Tees Valley follows suit. I'm involved with Coronavirus 19 swab tests & the levels in Darlington are relatively low. I agree with you th...

God I wish we had had a chairman like Steve Gibson. Only if he was willing to spend a lot of his dosh. Otherwise much prefer to have the setup we have now. I don't mind the level we are at if we are self funding. My comment was more about his commitment since 1986. When did we last have a director/...

I do too, but I think it’s important to note they’re pretty sustainable and haven’t spent a lot of money comparable to what is come in for some time. It seems very odd to me the level at which they sell players off when their squad is so small.
Agreed but they are also pretty crap as well.

Re: Ainsley pears

Looks likely to be a Blackburn player by the end of the week, they have upped their offer for him. Not sure of the goalkeeper situation at Blackburn but I am sure he will provide competition/ cover for them at a very reasonable price. It was reported that Boro had turned down an initial offer of £2...

Re: RESIGNATION OF DRFC CHAIRMAN

I think you know very well what I meant. It is perhaps a little surprising that in these unusual and testing times Mr Wilkinson should choose to handover the position of chairman when his experience is most needed. That is all I was referring to. It is of course entirely his decision to make but it ...

Never been a fan of Mr Wilkinson but you cannot deny he made a good deal for DRFC when he negotiated the deal with us. He did his job and got an agreement that seems heavily loaded in their favour as he knew we were desperate. Hope his replacement is someone we can get on with. The timing is intere...

I have expressed my doubts about Johnny Saltmer but I agree we need to get behind him. He is our only keeper so it is a big ask for him to keep his form for 40/50 games as he is young and inexperienced. Hope he can grow into the role and prove an asset.
