Re: Increasingly unlikely playoffs

What are peoples predictions for the playoffs? I'm going to go for: Gateshead to beat Brackley Altrincham to best Chester York to beat Altrincham (toughest to call, I think Alty are a really good side and whoever wins this wins the lot) Gateshead to beat Boston York to beat Gateshead York promoted....

Re: Potential new signings

Don’t see how there could possibly be any news of signings at the present time when there is such uncertainty about when/if next season will start. The club have done the right thing by tying up the nucleus of a decent squad from last season and are presumably awaiting for events to unfold. It would...

Sad news. Condolences to his family and friends. We seem to have lost too many good fans in recent times.

Re: The Northern Echo

Sadly the whole newspaper industry is in terminal decline. A natural casualty of the internet age along with town centre shopping and many other institutions that once thrived. I will miss the local news that they report on but it is so easy to access news and up to date information now that the rea...

Lets not forget we are The Quakers so maybe we would be the right place for a loose canon.

Re: Potential new signings

See Kyle Lafferty also released by Sunderland what a signing he would be but I guess will find a higher level club. I reckon Lafferty will be on between £6,000 - £8,000 a week. He's also a loose canon so one to avoid. He is also nearly 33 and has no club so l doubt he will command that much in futu...

Re: Potential new signings

I have a pretty good source and he's telling me we are linked with Adam Johnson, allegedly he has became match fit during the lockdown. How could anyone become match fit during lockdown? Clearly you are some sort of troll trying to be funny but I don’t think many people will find it so. He wasn't f...

Re: Potential new signings

Connor Simpson has just been released by Preston North End. Local lad and a striker too. Ex Pools though. Apparently went from Pools to Preston for £50k, 6’5” CF and only 20 yrs of age. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Would potentially be a great signing but I doubt he will drop as low as NLN level.

Wonder how Jonathon Woodgate will fill his time next season? He could fit in as a spare CB if he is still mobile & pick up some tips on how to be a better manager from AA.
Ha Ha We would be lucky to get 3 games out of him. He would certainly keep our physio Danny busy

Woodgate Sacked

Has paid the price for Boro’s poor season. Saturday was obviously the final straw for Gibson. Warnock takes over and he could just be the man to shake them up. They badly need a lift.

Re: Increasingly unlikely playoffs

South Shields made the mistake of using local solicitors Hadaway and Shite. It clearly didn’t go down well with the bigwigs from the FA.

Re: The Team 20/21 season

Tough times ahead at Blyth by the looks of it. Budget cut for next season and remember that is on top of cuts that were made for this season and led AA to move on. Big job for Nelson in his new managerial career and its going to be a difficult task for him.

Re: Next season’s captain

We are playing in a predominantly part time league in the sixth tier of English football. We really don’t need difficult to manage characters. Nobody at our level is that good they are above the well-being of the team. I want to see a group of players playing for the benefit of the team and enjoying...

Re: Next season’s captain

Oh Gramps now you really have lost the plot comparing Styche to Cantona.
I was trying to close down the debate because it had become rather pointless and I can see that was the right thing to do. You really need to start getting out more clearly lockdown fever is catching up with you.

Re: Next season’s captain

........... A lot of people on this forum have not mentioned the injury suffered by Armstrong in the play off final against bamber bridge which had a major impact on his career. I also genuinely spoke to a Hereford director last season who told me styche spent most of his time with them arguing wit...

Re: Next season’s captain

Gramps you are entitled to think Styche is a better player than Armstrong but the comparison is not laughable in my opinion. Armstrong was excellent in our championship winning season in the Evostik Premier which is only one level below our current level. In his younger days he played for Gateshead ...

Re: Next season’s captain

Your entitled to the opinion that Styche was a good player especially as he was part of a moderate team but I can think of other strikers who have been at least as good. Graeme Armstrong, Mark Beck and Tyrone O’Neill to name three and I would argue each of them was more of a team player. Can not rem...

Re: Next season’s captain

Styche was certainly more than decent at this level, and definitely not a liability. So would you want him back and be prepared to pay him a silly wage ? Thought AA had proved that he can build a squad on a realistic budget and we had moved on.Styche was a decent striker but not value for money sur...

Re: Next season’s captain

Styche is a decent player at our level but he was a liability in other ways. Pure speculation on my part but I suspect AA would have moved him on had he still been at the club when he arrived. He certainly would not fit in with our wage structure. Possibly part of the reason why he was a cut above t...

Don’t know the bloke personally but I always had the impression Tait was a bit of a tosser. Would not want him back if he came back in thinking he was a big time Charlie. Re: The Team 20/21 season

Ultimately it will be the government not the NL that decides when football at our level can return and how many spectators, if any, can attend. To start competitive football in September pre season needs to begin early August which is only 6 weeks away and I am not convinced the government will go ...
