Tommy Taylor Departs

He has announced on Twitter that after 3 seasons and 126 games, his time with the club is over. Not clear whether it is his decision or he has been released.
Good luck to him for the future.

Re: Gateshead - ineligible for playoffs

We've just escaped relegation by the skin of our teeth and now we're discussing League 2! Better than discussing how to get out of the Northern Premier though! “ Skin of our teeth ”. We actually finished 16th which is within the middle third of the league. Don’t know what all the relegation talk wa...

He was offside though, so it's not farcical. Whether it was appropriate to use VAR for a decision that wasn't clearly and obviously wrong is questionable, and a different discussion, but the ultimate outcome was correct whether it spoiled the underdog story for you or not. Re: Ben Liddle leaves

Wish him all the best but I suspect he wouldn't have been retained anyway. He wasn't involved much in the crucial run in. I suppose it saves face a bit, and he might have somewhere lined up. It’s quite hard to say whether he would have been retained or not. Listening to Steve and Terry, it sounds l...

Re: Chester Away All ticket

Johnston himself admitted at the AGM that the Board are really stretched and could do with some sort of paid assistant to help with the day to day running of the club. Mind you, I thought that was part of Uncle Ray’s remit, but I may be wrong. Ray's a journalist, he's not the person to do this sort...

Re: Chester Away All ticket

To be fair I think most of us were very pretty excited by the signing of Asante. What I find unbelievable is that there was no get out clause at the end of the season due to his history of injury problems. I am generally a big supporter of DJ and the current Board, but I have to admit they took thei...

Re: Asante Starts

I totally understand that he can just sit it out if he wants to. However, at 31 years of age he might just want to play football. If that is the case he may be prepared to accept some sort of compromise.

Re: Asante Starts

Maybe time for Steve and Terry to sit down with Asante and have a serious talk about his future. Maybe he just needs telling that he has no realistic future with us and offer him a reasonable financial settlement. Otherwise we could play hardball, make him travel up from Birmingham twice a week for ...

Re: Chester Away All ticket

It’s quite clear that Steve and Terry don’t want him. I’m hoping a club like Radcliffe will take him as Bernard and Jonno love him. I’ve lost count of the players we have signed that are not fit enough. We need to avoid injury prone players, at the very least not offer them long contracts! Sent fro...

Just for clarification, I saw 4 players warming up away from the main group last Saturday. They were Asante, Siddick, and 2 others that I believe were Harker and Gibson. I would imagine any or all of them could get a run out today.

Re: Steve Watson - 2 year contract confirmed

Great interview. Talking about promotion aims 'You hear a lot of managers playing it down, I'm not going to play it down, that's what we have to aim for'. No doom and gloom about our chances next season and beyond. Makes a world of difference. Completely different attitude to Mr Morose at the start...

Re: FA Cup replays scrapped from R1 in 24/25

Easy solution. All teams group together and refuse to play from 1st round onwards unless decision overturned Don’t be silly that would play right in to the hands of the Premier League clubs. They would be very happy to limit it to just Championship and Premier League teams and cut out the little cl...

Re: Once the dust settles...

Suppose we could chop the Tin Shed into squares & flog it off to raise funds for improvements. Nostalgia does have a value & I was in there 1960's & 70's too. It does, but lets not let it get in the way of progress. The whole argument is academic anyway, because the Rugby Club don’t want any furthe...

Re: Once the dust settles...

I take it you mean it won't belong to DFC? Yep. Remember the 36 inch water main going diagonally from open end that limits building. Surely we can't get rid of the Tin Shed - only part of Feethams we still have? Of course we could if it meant we could comply with the necessary ground grading requir...

That for me has been transformed by new additions, Main in particular. Would SW been able to do the same with Felix & Hazel? I personally don’t believe so. You don't believe that SW would have been able to do anything with Hazel, who scored 20 goals a season every season, and 21 goals in his first ...

Re: Well how did we do that?

Why do threads always descend into personal point-scoring? I don't really care if someone thought Gowling should have been given more time, or if Martin Gray was the only man to get us out of the mess, or if the signing of an injured Asante was an egregious assault on our very existence as a fan ow...

If we don’t draw next Saturday we will have created a couple of extraordinary sequences. A whole season of away games without a single draw and a run of 26 consecutive games since November without a draw home and away.

Yeh, Young won't be back. I'm sure a new GK will be a priority, and I'd hope that we have a good chance of securing Cornish and Barrow on contracts. If we can get those sorted early on, move out a few of the squad players/under-performers, then we should hopefully have a decent core of a side to fl...

Over the last 20 games, we’re 8th in the form table and Farsley are 21st. We’re where we are because of Gowling, they’re where they are because they’re not a very good team. Phew that’s a relief. Brilliant effort from the players and management team to get out of the mess we were in. I just hope that Tommy Taylor is named as a sub as knowing our luck Matty Young will get injured in the first 5 mins and witout a keeper on the bench... I have had exactly the same thought. It might seem over cautious to some, but I think for such an important match it would be reassuring to have a...
