Re: The Bottom Ten, Tuesday Mar 26th 2024

One thing that worries me a bit is that our 2 most winnable games are Southport and Farsley at home, both teams we never seen to beat at BM.

Re: The Bottom Ten, Tuesday Mar 26th 2024

One thing that looks possible this season is that the magic 50 points target may not guarantee safety. I think we need a minimum of 2 more wins or 52 points to have a good chance of staying up. Another complication for us is that the 2 teams just above us, Farsley and Peterborough Sports, still have...

Re: Complacency

As I said earlier in this thread I think Tommy won’t be seen again in a Darlo shirt, so hopefully your stress will be abated. Sometimes in a player’s career you just get the feeling that it would be better for all concerned if they moved on, and I think that is now the case. There are some supporter...

Re: The Bottom Ten, Saturday Mar 23rd 2024

Southport should more or less guarantee their safety by beating Bishop Stortford on Tuesday night. Hopefully, they will have enough left in the tank to take something from Farsley on Good Friday.

Thats great but the season finishes in 4 weeks time. Might be ready to sit on the bench by then, you never know.

Re: Complacency

Job most definitely not done. It is still very much in Rushall’s hands, if they beat us they are 2 points behind us with a game in hand, and that game is against Bishop Stortford. All we have to do is win 2 of our last 6 matches (3 if you want to be sure), regardless of whether Rushall is one of th...

Re: Rushall v Darlington

Poor performance today and we didn’t deserve anything from the game. Everyone was a bit below par and we certainly missed Matty Young’s presence in goal. I wouldn’t put all the responsibility on TT, because others were also to blame, but it will be a boost to have Young back next week. I think Taylo...

For me is keep the following - Griffiths , Hedley , Lees , Barrow , Platt , Hatfield, Salkeld , Cornish , Nelson , Main Undecided on Lindley and Rivers at this point , the rest I think we should move on Pretty much agree with that. I would think that Lindley will look for a club in the Midlands. Ri...

Re: Rushall tickets

The last time we drew a game was way back on 25th November at home to Rushall. Since then we have played 20 matches, winning 10 and losing 10. My hunch is that Rushall away could break the sequence and be a 1-1 draw, which would be not too bad given our current 5 point lead over them.

Pretty sure Siddick won’t be costing us an arm and a leg as he came to get fit and have some game time in mens football. Unfortunately, it hasn’t worked out as well as he would have liked, but I don’t think we have any long term commitments with him. I don’t know the situation with Asante, but surel...

There is contact on the back of their players’ foot which causes him to trip over himself.

It was clumsy by Hedley and, as the foul was awarded, we got away with one as it was inside the box.
You must be seeing something I don’t, because all I can see is a dive.

It wasn’t even a foul. The lad tripped over himself which is obvious on the highlights.
Would have been ridiculous decision if he awarded a penalty as it was never a foul.

Re: Rushall tickets

Looking on NLTV website our game at Rushall is not listed as being available to watch, which is disappointing. I would have thought there would be plenty of demand from Darlington supporters to stream this game given how crucial it is. I can see that we could take around 400 fans, especially if it ...

Boosts squad numbers for the final run in , we haven’t got the biggest squad, so he’s there if needed. That’s the way I look at it. Either way I think he is done, especially if Watson stays. Moke and Sukar will be gone at the end of the season. We do need a big clear out. Not as big a clear out as ...

He has been quiet because we have been winning, and he hasn’t been able to indulge himself in criticism of the club. Personally, I hope he we don’t hear anything else from him, if it means we are still doing well 😆

Re: Darlington V Peterborough Sports

Next week reminds me of our game v Colchester in 89. Not win or bust, but certainly not lose. I say that because Bishops Stortford is one of their games in hand. 89 was roles reversed, as we were on an OK run, but Colchester was on a great run, and we crumbled under the pressure of the occasion. Wi...

Re: We’ve come along way.

Has been an unbelievable turnaround. Hopefully we can win next week and quickly get enough points to guarantee safety. We then need to secure the services of Steve and Terry for the future. If we can do that and finish the season well, we will not only be safe, but we can carry some real momentum in...

For me the MOM was Cedric main he's a really good footballer holding the ball up well, tackling good winning the ball and some off his passes are sublime straight to a forward mostly finding their target.  Really. Re: Darlington V Peterborough Sports

It’s a game we would probably have lost a couple of months ago. They are a big physical team in the Alfreton mould, not a great footballing side but horrible to play against. Well done to our lads for sticking at it and grinding out the win, for a massive 3 points.

Re: Darlington V Peterborough Sports

This game has all the hallmarks of a massive banana skin to me. There is a sense of real expectancy among the fans, moderate opposition who have a couple of our ex players in their squad, and probably a decent crowd. If we can win our next 2 games we will be very close to pulling off the great escap...
