Favourite Darlo 11
Not to much to keep us going this last couple of weeks so thought I would put this out there, Maybe been done before but always good to have a good think back to some of the players we have seen pull on the black and white shirt over the years so I am after your favourite ever Darlo 11. Any formatio...

Re: Guiseley
I don't fancy our chances of catching Brackley so hope they win tonight and keep Boston in our reach. I would say the top 4 will more or less stay as it is so hopefully they can beat the teams around us when they play. If we can pick up the three points tonight it would be absolutely massive.

Re: Blyth game
Why is an opinion that we pretty much filled a stand that I’ve read had a 1,200 capacity deluded polarbear?

Re: Blyth game
A look on football ground guide gives that away end a capacity of 1,200. It was certainly more than just over half full. It is difficult to judge what the number will be exactly but I’d be fairly certain we would have took a minimum of 800. As for the game we did what we had to do and conserved ener...

Re: Darlington V Telford
The first half was as good as I have seen this season. It was looking like a question of how many we will win by so to go from that to actually losing the game is hard to take. I think two things of our own doing contributed to our downfall. The third one is that Telford obviously had one hell of a ...

Re: Small clubs in the north west
The club does aspire to get back into the football league, Its been said on many occasions. Otherwise there would be no point in the football club existing if that wasn't the long term aim. I am not sure I buy into the idea that the point of football clubs existing is to compete in the football lea...

Re: The Areana
If its a long term plan then it would be a no from me. I am not saying I wouldn't still attend games, Just I would rather watch us in a stadium that is correctly sized for the crowds we get. That place was horrible even we had 5000 attendances let alone the sub 2k we were getting in the final 2/3 ye...

Re: Saturday
Good thread and good debate. Personally I wouldn't change formation, I think we have enough cover to not have to resort to that. I'd go Elliot, Watson (LB), Tez and Laing (CB), Liddle (RB), Thommo (LM), Rivers and Hatfield (CM), Donawa (RM), O'Neil and Campbell (CF). Rivers in centre midfield is not...

Re: Farsley V Darlington Match Thread
There is positives to take out of that today. We started well until that mistake for the first goal (although the lad finished very well) and it seemed we just didn't shake that off which resulted in more defensive mistakes right up until half time. Second half we were much better and had them campe...

Re: farsley away
I reckon we should expect 700 to travel as a minimum. Its not far and we have the new optimism of a new start for the club again. As others have said we have taken 500+ to Manchester for opening games of the season, over 400 to Guiseley for a nothing game at the end of last season. Our home support ...

Re: Boost The Budget 19/20
Well 4 players on roughly £500 per week, that's if the lads are payed for 38 weeks of the year which I think is the length of the season. Not sure how it works at this level but that's the case lower down the pyramid. You should be able to get 4 good ones in for that which could make a big differenc...

Interesting that Trotman has signed a new deal today. Possibly suggesting that we may have Wright in charge again next season unless we are just protecting the club in tying down one of our more valuable assets. I cant get away from the fact that I like Tommy Wright as a man and I really want him to...

Re: Statement from the board
If he does go it is essential we appoint someone local, someone who lives local and has good knowledge of north east football. A large majority of our players and staff should be local - we are living from hand to mouth, and are only sustainable if we limit as much waste as possible. Maybe this is ...

He has to go now and that's that. To many times we have thrown away leads and while it may not be as a result of Wright changing anything today, as soon as the first went in you could sense the change in atmosphere and that our midfield was overrun. His lack of trying to do anything about it sums hi...

Re: Liam Hughes departs
Good luck to the guy. From being jeered off after 3 games to becoming a bit of a cult hero takes some doing but he managed it. The timing looks a bit of an odd one with only 9 games to go so let's hope for his sake it is a bust up with Wright and not that his demons have re-appeared and he just can'...

Quite simply beaten by a better team than ourselves. It happens although I would like us to have more of a go than we did, If we are going to lose at least match them for work-rate and intensity but we didn't and I feel Brackley had another gear to go into if they needed. Fancy them to go up this se...

As something to compare to Carlisle did an 8k for MK promotion today and they got nearly 10500 through the gate, an increase nearly 3 times their average attendance. All today's done is convinced me that there is no future at BM for us.. But weren’t Carlisle charging £2 per ticket  No mate it...

Re: Darlington V Southport match thread
The main factor was the Carlisle v MK Dons was a big play off game in league two. I don't see how this has much significance in comparing with Darlo v Southport in Nat North below mid table clash. Without Carlisle putting on that push the attendance wouldn't have even been half of what they got. Th...

Re: Darlington V Southport match thread
Can't fault the club for putting on the offer, I just feel the crowd they got will have been quite a bit below what they had hoped for. As stated above we aren't having a great season and that obviously has contributed to lower than anticipated crowds but that's concerned me today.

Re: Darlington V Southport match thread
Looks like I may be in the minority with this but I think the crowd was poor today. Dropping prices we should have been looking at hitting 2k. Not sure what we average this season but im guessing it won't be far off the 1400 we got today. As something to compare to Carlisle did an 8k for MK promotio...

Re: Blyth V Darlington match thread
Great win and a big 3 points as I was starting to nervously look towards the bottom 3 again. I said a few weeks ago that we needed another 4 wins, that's our first since then and it's looking more likely that another 9 points should see us out of reach for the current bottom 3 to catch. The sooner w...

Shame to see Nelson go but one where surely we all expected him not to stay with us as he looks capable of playing higher. Wollerton never really got much of a chance so hard to decide if he will be a miss or not. Glad to see we are wanting to replace these lads though and lets not forget we have a ...

Re: Sports Village (latest)
We all thought we would get larger crowds being back in Darlo than being at Bishop but that hasn't really happened. I see no reason why more people would suddenly attend being back at the Arena than being at Blackwell. In our last 2 or 3 seasons at the Arena I think I remember the crowds being aroun...

I just can't understand how we can't seem to fund a squad at this level with our support and all the money that has been raised when far smaller clubs than us can. We must be paying some of these lads a small fortune.

There should be no excuse for any player that is fit enough to train to not attend. I haven't even heard of that happening in the northern league. Interesting that the Boro fans thought we played some nice stuff and enjoyed it. I brought along my brother who hasn't seen us since the early days at the arena and he said the same on the way out. One that never gets a mention but can be traced back to the start of this fantastic run is the signing off Ben O'Hanlon. Think he made his debut at leamington and since then we havent looked back. His signing also free'd up Galbraith to drop back into a centre half position and him and Heaton have b...
