Re: 10 games in

As for the injuries, don't all clubs have injury problems? It's part of the season, and surely being a good enough manager means you can build a strong enough squad to cope. Yes we have a smaller squad because of budgets etc, but is our squad substantially smaller than the majority of sides in the ...

Re: 10 games in

We have a decent budget yes, thanks to fan donations. It would have been a shite budget otherwise. As for transfer fees and other money, they are irrelevant as they didn't form part of this years budget - they were needed to prevent us going out of business thanks to the massive overspend allowed fo...

Re: Southport v Darlington

I think Collins is in the same boat now. A perma-injured, bang average defender who can't complete 90 minutes, drawing a nice "Gray era" wage for basically bot all. We could probably get 3 decent part time players in from their combined wages. However they are contracted so unless they're prepared t...

Re: Southport v Darlington

It was important to keep southport down below us as it will be with FCUM as with about a quarter of the season gone the relegation zone is a bit too close for comfort. We dont want that still to be the case when the next quarter is done and dusted. Sounded like we were hanging on a bit against a bi...

Re: Southport v Darlington

Will take the 0-0 seeing as though we sounded under the cosh.

Positive - unbeaten in 2, clean sheets 2.

Get Wheatley, Syers, Ainge back and the next 2 league matches (Stockport H and FCUM A) look winnable.

Based on only having youth teamers to put on the bench because of injuries? Does that = intent?

No, no it doesn't.

The annual be excited up until about 1:01pm tomorrow, we either get a crap draw or draw someone we should probably beat and then manage to lose anyhow. In the last 7 season we have managed 1 win in the FA Cup against West Auckland, granted 2 seasons we were not allowed to play in it but our record ...

Re: Styche and Ainge

Another one in the replace Saunders with Styche camp. 4-5-1 does work best for us because Syers is so good in that role that he plays - think MBW a few years back. It also works because Styche revels in being the spearhead of the attack. I'm a big fan of Ainge already because I can see he's got so m...

Sorry, Henshall shall is in no way, shape or from better than Gillies. Burn is not better than Brown either on current evidence. It's a bit too early to rate Henshall as he has hardly featured so far, but I'm personally still glad we got rid of lazy cunnt - sorry I mean Gillies. Yes Gillies was fan...

Re: Darlington V Alfreton Match Thread

Not happy with the results obviously, but fuck me we've been unlucky with injuries and that hasn't helped. I'm happy to see TW get until christmas, no point getting rid so soon - who knows, he might take us on a cup run. What we need to remember is that for a club of this level a manager has to have...

For Alfreton I suspect we will stick with Ainge and Burn. We're definitely going to have a problem for Telford though, if Styche is missing and Galbraith still isn't fit. If we stick with Ainge at the back then we'd be toothless up front (no disrespect to Saunders but I can't see him doing much up f...

Gibraltar is about the size of a pin head so I can't see them having 11 players better than him.

Re: Ashton United on Monday

Is it too early to call this a "must win" game? I'd say not - we need to arrest this alarming slide. If we lose at Ashton we'll definitely get beaten by Alfreton and 1-2-5 would be an appalling start. Beat Ashton and it could be the start of a turnaround - though I still think we'll be lucky to get ...

Re: Darlington V Altrincham Match thread

My fears about the situation only increased after seeing the interview with TW. It comes across as so much more worrying than just one bad home defeat. To be honest he comes across as confused, let down, alarmed by what he has seen and, well, lost. To give TW the benefit of the doubt here I just th...

One problem if we did sack Wright is where would it leave us squad wise? We've got players from all over the place, several only signed because they know TW. Hughes doesn't need mobility, he has a killer pass. Effectively, the pitch moves him to where he wants to be. Give him a few more games to shake the rust off, you will see. Re: Kidderminster V Darlington

I reckon our playing budget is 250k, possibly pushing 260k as we went over the 80k BTB target. Divide that by 18 players and it's 14-15k a man. Over a year that's £300 a week average for playing part time. I'd love a part time job which paid me that much! In reality the players only get paid during ...

I agree. Gramps has got this entire thread bang on. Apart from the not laughing at Gray bit. That may be so, but if your budget keeps get...
