Re: Home Kit Vote

Hoops are a part of our identity - we were wearing hoops long before we wore plain white shirts. Black and white hoops are pretty unique in English football, which is part of the appeal. It isn't just a "younger fans" thing at all - I'm an older fan, and I like the fact that we wear hoops. The probl...

Re: FA Trophy

Apologies if it has been asked elsewhere, but will the games continue to be streamed live when fans are allowed back in? I'm in the "clinically extremely vulnerable" group, so won't be back watching football in person for a while.

Re: Ex Darlo players -unsporting behaviour?

The recent thread re Maradona's World Cup handball has got me thinking about if any Darlo players in history have ever misbehaved to get an advantage? I've racked my brains over the last 25 years and can't I really remember much wayward behaviour at all - because our players are such an honest bunc...

Re: Ex Darlo players -unsporting behaviour?

Alan White's elbow in the opening minutes of a game V Brentford at the Arena. I think he broke the fella's cheekbone. It looked deliberate from where I was sitting.

Edit. I don't think this was necessarily to get an advantage. We lost the game.

Re: Guiseley v Darlington

It is being shown on a Pay As You Feel basis. You can watch it for free of course, but I would hope that Darlo fans made some contribution to their crowdfunder. I see that they say it costs about £800 running costs per matchday. These are troubled times for most football clubs, and I'm happy to pay ...

Re: Darlo's best away kit?

I liked the Green strip in the 85 promotion year Must admit I have a soft spot for anything with chevrons on. We also had hummel kits in red (with white chevrons) and yellow (with blue chevrons). All were absolute classics. I did like the mid-nineties orange and black strip we wore at Leeds (though...

I assume he is contracted to Tadcaster. If we offered him a contract would a fee be payable? It's probably not wise in the current climate to be buying players.

Pubs Streaming Darlo games

There's nothing to stop pubs streaming the games, and they are struggling to make money in these troubled times, but it is to the detriment of our club. Anyone know which pubs are doing this? As DJ suggests, it would be good if some collection was made for the club if they intend to continue doing t...

Re: Arena worshippers

I hate to piss on your cornflakes, but plans have been shelved, not scrapped. Once fans are allowed to return to grounds, it is likely to be on a phased basis, and the plan to return to the Arena will be rekindled. We'll be there before the end of the season in all likelihood. But then you know that...

17% of 6,000 is 1,020. I would hope it isn’t capped at that, as, I imagine, it wouldn’t break even.

It’s all conjecture though. We may not even get FA approval.

I have severe COPD. I haven’t ventured far since lockdown and won’t be attending matches (at BM or the Arena) until the risk is minimal. That reads like AA is getting very frustrated in his efforts to sign a team. I hope his propensity to vent his frustrations, and criticise players at this level, doesn't come back to bite him. It's not a great approach to recruitment. He hasn’t criticised players at this level. He’s criticising the...

One of the great football traditions is Gateshead going bust. They then tend to be replaced by a team from South Shields moving to Gateshead and changing it's name.

Lloyd Maitland

I'm sitting at my desk thinking about Lloyd Maitland (in a non-sexual way). I'm led to believe that his Darlo career ended in the late 70s in bizarre fashion. Was he run over by a team mate whilst having a piss in an alleyway? If so, who was the team mate, and where was the alley? I feel like it nee...

I have to be honest and say that I haven't a clue who half of these people are.

I'm also very wary of appointing a Northern League Manager. Whatever their success at that level, there is every chance we would be promoting them beyond their abilities.

The Boxing day demolition of York is the stand out game of the season. There were others though - beating both Telford and Kidderminster 3 nil each. I actually enjoyed the games against Blyth, Spennymoor and Chorley, where we played well but didn't win. In fact, we seemed to play well against suppos...
