Bishops Stortford road closures

HT: 1-0 down to a side that got turned over 4-1 on Tuesday night. Christ, what a mess, squad-wise, Alun has left us in. Too loyal to certain players, poor recruitment in other areas. Squad is massively unbalanced with 3 right-backs and then 3 centre-forwards that can't win a header. There's a core ...

Re: Mark Beck

Disappointed with Beck if this is true. Seems like he couldn’t wait to leave at the first given opportunity. I get he wants to better himself but surely if he kept banging in a few more between now and the end of the season he could have bided his time and perhaps had a pick of a few more clubs at t...

Re: Darlo’s worst XI

Upfront we’d have to include the centre forward McMahon (can’t remember his first name but I think we signed him from China). I remember him jumping for a header and his jump was that badly mistimed when he landed the ball was still in the air! We’ve had some shockers over the years though. Sent fro...

Sounds working but the picture is really jerky Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Shame you Can't watch it with Quakerman 2. I think he'd be getting rather irate with some of our crossing. “Adam we’re far too tip tappy and not physical enough to win ugly 1-0s”. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Early odds

Definitely worth a punt for an each way bet. There's no reason (on paper) why we can't pinch a top 3 finish, but I say this every year! It'll be another really tough league....the pride will no doubt be there or there abouts (but failing due to their usual fixture pile ups that come back to bite the...

Re: Ground share

Hopefully this time round we’ll be given the opportunity to sit at the warm side of the arena (the side where the seats were fading). I always wondered what it would be like to sit in that stadium and experience a temperature above 5 degrees. Fingers crossed this gets the green light, as personally ...

This makes complete sense given the circumstances, especially with our season ticket sales alone likely exceeding the allowable capacity at BM. It would also be good if we could pay a subscription fee to screen the matches live online, something which DJ has touched on in the past. Sent from my iPad...

Re: Sports village

As well as a sign outside the ground we should also have some Darlo memorabilia inside the clubhouse to make us feel part of the set up. I.e. photos of former players...previous squad photos etc. The fact we have diddly squat sends out a firm message that there’s no close bond between the football a...

Re: Hereford

A decent point today thumbs up to the fans who travelled as well. Personally I’m happy to finish mid table with a solid base to move on again next season. Also hopefully at the AGM next week we may get to hear on where our future location may lie. Agreed. Things have done a bit quiet off the field ...

Lock the Heritage Park doors and get Bell to sign on the dotted line! Agreed he looked quality when he came on on the second half and took his second goal superbly. I’d never heard of him but if there’s a chance to sign him up we should give him a go! Holmes also looked excellent! Sent from my iPho...

Re: New signings and outgoings

Unless AA can bring in a couple of decent forwards (and one with some height as our team is full of midgets) then we’ll struggle. I’m sure he’ll be looking at a few players but I’d hate to think we’re starting the season with no out and out centre forward in the side. Sent from my iPhone using Tapat...

Personally I’d go for Ben Clark, especially if he can bring with him one or two of the Gateshead lads who could no doubt do a job for us! Re: Female managers

The problem would arise if the female manager took a fancy to one of our players. For example if Tommo was having a stinker but our new gaffer had a soft spot for smaller rugged looking players with tatts and a slight bald patch, would she really haul him off if he was having a stinker. Likewise if ...

http://darlingtonfootballclub.co.uk/quakers-sign-simon-ainge/ If he's over his bad injury from last season, then a cracking signing. At Harrogate he scored (according to the ever reliable Wikipedia) 35 goals in 54 games, which is superb. Him and Styche could (should) be up there with the best the l...

Turnbull was not in the side to score goals. Therefore criticising him for not scoring enough goals is bullshit. Anyone saying otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about. As such, Quakermass doesn't know what he's/she's talking about. He/she hasn't even explained why he thinks that. It just ...

It’s disappointing in that he’s been a good servant. That said he’s not irreplaceable. Good luck to the lad Agreed Nick, he’s a very good player but for me didn’t score enough and is replaceable. Tommy knows what he’s doing I’m sure...and there’s plenty of time to bring in some quality replacements...

Little Thommo gets my vote although it could have gone to one of a few. My “mini season” player of the year would go to Styche, but Pears and Heaton have also been superb.

I reckon I’ll be ok first half Adam...but in the second half the pre-match chicken madras will start to take its toll! God help anyone stood within 50 yards of me tomorrow..it won’t be pleasant!

Re: Styche is our new striker!

Have to agree with Quakerman on this one. We came back into the game second half against York but first half they battered us and should have been 4-0 up if it wasn’t for some of the worst finishing I’ve seen in years. Time to focus on the positives now...the 3 signings TW has brought in all seem pr...

Until we bring in 2 decent forwards I’m struggling to see us winning another game. Even with Beck fit we still need another forward. We’re wafer thin in that department and unfortunately both Carts and Saunders rarely look like scoring. Until we bring in a decent forward I’m struggling to see where our next wins coming from (hope I’m wrong tho).

He obviously means two natural central defenders (surely you’re not that thick). Galbraith has done a decent job but he’s not a natural centre half in the mold that Browny is. We’re crying out for a natural goal scorer upfront and Beck doesn’t provide that. Hopefully Tommy will bring in a couple of good forwards sooner rather than later as we can’t carry on relying on goals from the opposition defender or wind assisted free kicks. I wouldn’t lose much sleep if Beck left. ...

Nuneaton Town v Darlington Match Thread

We need two centre forwards ASAP as Cartman and Beck have been firing blanks for far too long. Harvey huffs and puffs but rarely scores and a loan deal for him should do him good as he’s not quite ready. Unless we strengthen upfront we’re not going to be winning many games so hopefully the new man (...
