Re: Walsall V Darlington FA Cup First Round Proper
If you had first posted congratulating the team for a great performance and result, I might have believed you, but as you haven’t we all know it’s same old Harry.

Re: Darlington V Kidderminster
Hard fought win tonight. We missed a couple of chances before we scored. I’ve no idea how the goal was allowed because although their defenders head was slightly down, O’Neills foot was high and he kicked him in the nose which resulted in him being substituted. Bit of luck for once for us, but I wou...

Re: FA Cup draw - Darlo Away to Walsall
Could have been better draw but not a disaster and it’s not much further than Tamworth, so we should have a decent following.

Re: Darlington V Boston
What penalty, the one where Wheatley dived in, didn’t touch the number 10 and he fell over clutching ankle like it was broken? Then 20 seconds later got up and didn’t even have the good grace to limp.

Re: Darlington V Boston
On a serious note Connell definitely gives the defence more confidence. He comes for through balls very well and commands his area on crosses. I’m not saying Elliott is a poor keeper and if he’s been playing through an injury, that has to be factored in, but Connell so far looks to be quite a big st...

Re: Altrincham
The reason I think the ref has given it for denying a goalscoring opportunity is because when he goes over to the touchline and explains it to their manager, the manager points downfield towards our goal. Earlier in the game Laing got yellow carded for bringing one of their players down, which he ma...

Re: Altrincham
Sorry I’ll rephrase, was it not a red card because the Alty player denied a goal scoring opportunity.

If it wasn’t a red card for the foul, could it be because he was the last man?

Re: Gateshead game...
I’m not too worried about Laings distribution as it’s clearly what Armstrong wants him to do. In the first half some of his long cross field balls did go astray but in the second half a lot more hit their mark, or were headed out of play which gave us the position up the field, hence win win.

Re: Halifax Friendly Now at Blackwell Meadows
To be fair the derailment of the thread if mostly my fault. I queried why I and later other posters on this thread were being accused of abusing players, when there isn’t one post on this thread that does that. At the very worst there is very minor criticism, but if anyone constitutes it as abuse, w...

Re: Halifax Friendly Now at Blackwell Meadows
Who’s abusing anyone? Some people have pointed out they’re not convinced by Bascombe, some say they thought he played well. Just about everyone has said he was at fault for the goal. That’s not abuse, it’s fact, Armstrong said it in his interview.

Re: Halifax Friendly Now at Blackwell Meadows
So does that mean we can’t have opinions on a message board however innocuous those comments are. It’s not as if I said he was useless and shouldn’t be given more of a chance. The rest of my post was very positive even saying that I thought one of our players had a decent match even though Gramps sa...

Re: Halifax Friendly Now at Blackwell Meadows
Other than a 5 minute spell in the first half when he gave the ball away very cheaply 2/3 times, one for the goal, I thought Bascombe had a decent match. Always looking for the ball and played some very good balls other than that 5 minute spell. It’s the first time I’ve seen us preseason and overall...

Re: Alun Armstrong
Jameson was at the very best an ok keeper, nothing more. In the times I’ve seen him since he hasn’t changed my opinion. Good shot stopper yes, but his command of his area and starting position were always his problem. Unless he’s improved a huge amount, I wouldn’t want him back.

I was only 6-7 at the time but he’s still one of my favourite players. I’ve no real idea if he was any good I was so young, but he’s always stuck in my memory. I do remember him crossing the ball over and over for Jimmy Seal to completely miss golden chances to score.

Re: Who do we fancy then?
How about Graeme Lee, currently working with Craig Liddle with Boro’s under 23s. Didn’t he want the job before we got demoted, or have I made that up? He knows the area and would we have a good chance of bringing some of the Boro lads to us on loan. He would also know the best players getting releas...

Can we have an apology for everyone who wanted Ainge to play as a forward, he really is garbage.
We basically played with 9 men because Henshall is just as bad.

Gramps, I don’t always agree with you and sometimes I do think you can be a little forceful with your comments, but I must say you’ve been remarkedly restrained on this thread. For others to even come up with the argument that Turnbull didn’t score enough goals is utter stupidity. Claude Makelele pr...

Re: Darlington FC V Kidderminster
Funny how you can view matches differently. I didn’t think Wheatley, Syers or Thommo had particularly good matches until the subs were made. Not because they played badly, but because the way Kidderminster played stopped them. Once the subs were made and Kiddy went for it, the game opened up and Sye...

We don’t actually need him to take corners when Caton is playing his corners yesterday were very dangerous, hard and flat. With Thomson taking it on the other side it frees up Galbraith to be in the middle.

Re: Blyth
Caton was holding his hamstring when he went off. Hopefully it was just tight, but if not it could be a few weeks out. Thought he played well yesterday and his crossing very good. He could still work a bit harder, but that maybe be being a bit harsh. As others have said it was really hard to pick a ...
