Re: The Team 20/21 season

I think the idea that targets were identified in January and attempts were made to sign them there and then is too literal to what Alun said. Very little tends to happen in these months anyway & certainly not when you can get them for free in the summer. I don't think there was a suggestion that th...

Re: The Team 20/21 season

Equally Atkinson will also get game time where Holness did last season, again he was pretty limited this season. Based on what Armstrong said at the NetCafe ie that he is basically after two strikers a centre back and a goalkeeper. Add Lambert into the mix because I think it is a reasonable assumpti...

Re: Darlington Formed 2012

But all it was was a list of their biggest loss % against other teams. If he had done it as the full history of DFC we wouldn't have even appeared on the top 5 or bottom 5... It is just a bit irrelevant. I'd be more inclined to care if it was something like a list of the oldest clubs in England and ...

So after years of arguing that the club were not formed in 2012, you are now happy for people to state Darlington were formed in 2012?
The club was formed in 1883 but if he wants to track how Boston United have performed against Darlington since 2012 then that's his prerogative.

Re: New deal for Donawa, Hatfield, Rivers, Holmes, Hedley, Reid, Storey , Campbell, Laing, Wheatley, Liddle, Watson,

When Ty & Campbell played in the same side Campbell tended to be out on the left or right. My recollection was we had two up top when we had O'Neill. Campbell would generally play off him but don't remember him being played wide specifically - at Trafford in particular he was mostly central and was...

Re: New deal for Donawa, Hatfield, Rivers, Holmes, Hedley, Reid, Storey , Campbell, Laing, Wheatley, Liddle, Watson,

Very possibly though not sure who drops out. Holmes is clearly highly rated as he gave him the new deal despite not playing at all last season. I can't see Campbell being replaced either. At the back Laing will be the fans choice to be moved out but again Armstrong likes his style of play and was vo...

We actually have the spine of a starting XI now. 4-3-3 GK Hedley Storey Laing Liddle Hatfield Wheatley Reid Donawa Campbell Rivers Holmes, Watson 4-4-2 GK Hedley, Storey, Laing, Liddle Donawa, Hatfield, Wheatley, Rivers Campbell, Holmes Reid, Watson Ob...

Re: New deal for Donawa, Hatfield, Rivers, Holmes,Hedley,Reid, Storey, Campbell, Laing, Wheatley

We are in a better position but Andy Holt at Accrington has basically confirmed that the EFL aren't able to offer any contract extensions at the moment due to that uncertainty. That means you have potentially 50% of players who do not know if they have a future in full time football. Are we really a...

Re: New deal for Donawa, Hatfield, Rivers, Holmes,Hedley,Reid, Storey, Campbell, Laing, Wheatley

My actual logic is that summer activity this year will be very different to normal; - we lost the traditional time when scouting / identifying targets would take place at the back end of a season - there is uncertainty over when training or the season will start anyway - there is even more uncertain...

Re: New deal for Donawa, Hatfield, Rivers, Holmes,Hedley,Reid, Storey, Campbell, Laing, Wheatley

Just because we aren’t currently playing/training doesn’t mean we can’t & won’t sign anyone. By that logic no player would ever get signed over summer. a) didn't say we can't sign people b) that isn't the logic My understanding - and this may be entirely incorrect mind - is that it is in the latter...

Re: New deal for Donawa, Hatfield, Rivers, Holmes,Hedley,Reid,Storey, Campbell, Laing

Interesting to see that Alun isn't furloughed atm, as he is busy sorting out the squad for next season. he's probably one of the few managers at our level who isn't furloughed. What makes you say that? Pretty sure he is furloughed. I'm not sure Armstrong is necessarily needed to resign players who ...

You want some salt as well for that king edward size chip on your shoulder. Should every club be fan owned then?
Now there is a thought football clubs entirely funded by their members / supporters and not in the interests of profit and shareholder returns.

Doesn't sound too bad does it?

Don't pitches usually get worked on over the close season , I doubt that will be much different this time around.

Can't imagine it will be huge amounts of work mind as compared to other pitches in our division ours was decent.

I guess we will know if he gets fixed up with a new club...as we either will or won't seek compensation at that point. If he joins a club further down the pyramid I am not even sure the compensation will be worth chasing. You are probably talking £250-£500. If he goes to a NL club we might get a cou...

I am a little confused by your point. We may have had an option - but this hasn't been taken as Trotman is now out of contract (which contradicts what the official website said originally). We will only receive compensation from another club if we offered Trotman the same (or increased) terms. Alth...

I also should add that, in order to for the club to be due compensation, we would have had to re-engage with Trotman on the same (or increased) terms than his previous contract. I think Troutman's sell on capacity depends on his commitment / aspirations to get into full time football or to take his football seriously. See, this is what happens when you don’t engage your brain properly, and just type the first thing that pops in. It’s blatantly obvious DarloFan97 isn’t saying literally every single player Armstrong signs will be someone he’s worked with (e.g. Hatfield). But anyone who has the sense to examine Arm...
