Re: David Johnston

Just a bit concerned that DJ has loaned £50k to the club at some time in the past. Has this been spent and on what? How many others have made loans and are any still outstanding? I appreciate he has turned his two loans into shares but is thus announcement something to be concerned about long-time?...

Re: Retention for next year

I'll be honest I would expect an u23 at Newcastle to be earning more than someone at Carlisle but I don't really know after that point it is all a bit of a guess.

You don't but I think the perspective is that Armstrong probably does and see him as pivotal.

Re: Retention for next year

I'm genuinely surprised by the number of people suggesting to retain Atkinson... from what i've seen, I wouldn't play him in central midfield ahead of Hatfield, Omar or Wheatley, and I wouldn't play him at right back ahead of Hedley. Unless he converts to play centre back, I don't see a use for him...

Re: Retention for next year

Because it’s a well known fact that we exceeded the original playing budget set to bring in the likes of Hedley, Storey, Connell and Martin after the cup run. But two of them are loans so the liability doesn't extend to next season. So we just spent the extra money this season but it is time bound....

Re: Retention for next year

I don't really know who is available in the mark a la Hatfield that we could pull in so it's hard to discuss retention. Where do I think we are weakest at the moment still up top and probably at right back (without Trotman). Trotman resolves RB and then probably makes CB the next area "for improveme...

Re: Hereford

comfortably the best striker we've had at the club since our kick down the leagues Is it that comfortable? It's opinions but I wouldn't have swapped Styche for O'Neill when we had him, and I wouldn't swap Campbell for Styche right now. It's probably also touch and go if you gave me a choice of Andr...

Re: Plucky Salford

Feels like this is for the terraces? Salford were relevant to us when we were in their division and challenging for titles together - now threads just make our fan base look green. Re: Leamington at home

Hopefully they'll make an early decision & take the forecast into account. Not possible too many clubs complained to the FA a few years ago because inspections were being based on forecasts and there were photos going viral of pitches at KO time which were perfectly playable. So officials were advi...

Re: Plucky Salford

Gary Neville did an interview the other day which basically said "we are going to spend what we need to get promoted". We are not participating not to get promoted along those lines

I mean he said it was the Salford way but it was almost impossible to hear it without "this is Man United" tone to it.

Just heard that budget likely to be lower than this seasons Not sure who sets the budget one person says it’s DFCSG other DJ. Have to say as a fan owned club we hear very little about finances overall. What financial information do you think you should have - and what will you do with it? ie. what ...

I hope this is well wide of the mark - i cant not see either demanding wages they are beyond our budget.
You literally said you can't not see them demanding wages beyond our budget.

But we hold the options. So they can't demand more money as the option will be an extension.

I think some people are just being a nuisance and we are in Chinese whispers territory.

It's a pity we can't adopt Rugby League style shirts sponsorship, as they have multiple sponsors on their shirts.
Like the sponsor we have on our arms?

Re: Away Kit

Wonder if we could get an extra shirt sponsor (bottom of the neck / under the shirt number) and it is priced accordingly to include matching the actual shirt colours to that of the business colour scheme...

Maybe a bit late for that this season...so I'd be in favour of orange mentioned above.

According to the match report York got a bit roughed up at Boston. Ainge made some rough tackles and it all turned a bit tasty. Our turn on Tuesday night, it’s a pity Leon Scott is no longer in the team. Aw I can't believe a team got roughed up I thought the game was all about pretty pretty footbal...

Regardless he has moved down the divisions ever since he left us so I am not sure that justifies a "let go too quick" perspective either.

Re: League restructure

I don't really know if there is an easy answer. If you make the Northern Premier League go straight into Conference North you give step 3 Northern sides a 1 in 12 chance of getting to Step 2 whilst giving the rest of the county a 1 in 36 chance - not sure that will be interpreted as fair. There isn...

Re: League restructure

We've had 8 already this season, 9 next week when we play Boston. Makes no difference. So in likelihood we'll have upwards of 10 away midweek fixtures which is an awful lot for a semi professional team. Why would they all be away fixtures? They won't be, but there is the potential for extra midweek...

Re: League restructure

Hate to say this but "what Spen" says. It's basically not really driven by the name of the league. At each step the country will be divided into effectively by the league's at that level. Step 2 - 2 Step 3 - 4 Step 4 - 8 The boundaries will be redrawn each season to effectively be in the best balance.

We already knew this was coming, didn't we? Personally, I think it's too much, but there's little point complaining about it. I'm a little more bothered by the continual cramming of southern sides into the northern division. It's expensive for all concerned, and the cut off seems to move further an...

I thought we all knew only two teams were going down this season? It’s phase 2 of the restructuring programme. This. The introduction of a new league at step 3 has been known for ages as the next phase to move to a move 'balanced' pyramid...ie. each step has twice as many as the other. Phase 1 is w...
