Re: Playoffs

How many players will Harrogate retain from their present squad as they will definitely want to improve the team. Depends what their ambition is. I suspect their current squad would be mid table, certainly comfortably safe, in League Two as they are. As they have been full time anyway so there shou...

Re: Who will follow Wigan Athletic into administration?

despite willingly signing you all up a couple of weeks a go. I can't see anything which says they recently signed the players up? Dover had 15 on their retained list (so contracted for this season) which they confirmed a couple of weeks ago they must have lost one already so are down to the 14 ment...

Re: Who will follow Wigan Athletic into administration?

Dover in trouble released all players and said unless a solution is found the club is insolvent.

As said above, Barrow will find that harder, but they will likely not be based in Barrow for day-to-day training to combat this (they were based from Salford for many years).

Interesting to see on Look North them showing a few fans in a pub watching the game, if we had been in there position all the pubs in town would have been rammed. Re: October 3rd

Surely starting pre season training means that players will need to be paid? How could we do this when the season starts (or is supposed to start) so late? Nope don't think so players are effectively paid a seasons contract in instalments. Instalments start from the beginning of the competitive pla...

Re: October 3rd

I know clubs that have been going for a good few weeks now. FC United have been posting videos of small groups (6) training for the past month. I see Bolton Wanderers played Atherton Colls so it has been clubs from all levels. This Saturday was the first time competitive games (friendlies) have been...

Re: Maguire & Langstaff Released

The other thing with Hunt his early football education was under Sam Allardyce at Bolton put simply he will absolutely know how to look after his body to keep going. Pretty sure that is what Allardyce's backroom staff specialised in. I doubt its particularly secrative anymore but he will have been d...

Re: October 3rd

The FA Cup starting in September is massively in doubt now. The North West Counties have met and said they can't start without spectators so they don't expect to start until October now.

That would mean no earlier rounds of the FA Cup taking place unless the FA decide to ignore their pleas.

Re: October 3rd

Bury still do exist unfortunately its a zombie entity with no players or staff and no membership to a league but still hold that "golden share" oh and a substantial amount of debt.

I say unfortunately because for as long as the zombie club exists Bury AFC will not be as successful as they could be.

Re: October 3rd

I've just had visibility of some league guidance as part of the risk assessments that are being completed where it effectively states that in the case of local geographical lockdowns then action will be taken to suspend fixtures.

Its West Cheshire league docs but it's based on FA steer effectively.

Re: October 3rd

That is for indoor household visiting, not for public places/amenities. Not quite - it also extends to "arranged meetings" at other indoor locations such as pubs / restaurants. So basically in Manchester you now can't go to the pub or out for a meal with another household...unless they are in your ...

Re: Maguire & Langstaff Released

Yeah the position of chief benchwarmer at Spendy is vacant after Boyes’ departure so they’ll be in for Maguire without doubt. A little surprised they’ve released Kallum Griffiths to be honest. Wouldn’t mind seeing him here but a RB isn’t a priority for AA. I was thinking the same and came to the sa...

Re: October 3rd

We are likely to stay with 22 and south reduced to 21 as we get Fylde and Chorley but who knows how they do it. They get all 43 teams and then draw a new line to split the step 2 divisions. I actually think we are more likely to be the division with 21 as I expect Gloucester to move across. You don...

Re: October 3rd

Its difficult - the real challenge will be when a good proportion of clubs are ready but some aren't...will those that aren't ready / can't cope be sacrificed for the rest. Looking closer to home comparing ourselves against the rest of our division we are going to be one of the last who are "ready"....

There are caveats on all the communications that conversations are still ongoing in terms of what a covid safe football club need to do - and the date is simply indicative / desired. Re: October 3rd

I don't know if it will - if I am not mistaken as players are on a fixed term contract they are paid a fee to fulfil that contract (ie the season denoted in the contract).

So I would think most of our contracts say £x amount paid in 40 weekly instalments rather than "we will pay £x per week"

There is zero chance that Gray wasn't aware that York wanted him before DFC were approached to ask if they could have Gray. That is tapping up by definition but as Les says pretty much in the same way that probably every single transfer in football happens. Every player gets asked "would you join us...

You are right just checked my records for 2016/2017

06/08/2016 - Congleton v New Mills (FA Cup)
01/10/2016 - Congleton v Prestwich Heys (NWC League Cup)

Confusion over opposition / competition.

Re: FA Cup

Ah so basically they are guaranteed to be part of prelims then. No, a team promoted from step 7 are guaranteed not to be in FA Cup as every other step 6 side would be ahead of them on PPG Oh that is strange then - I am almost certain that Prestwich Heys participated in their first season in Step 6....

The step 6 qualification process is determined on a points per game basis not league position. That is all.
Interesting - how do they handle a team promoted from step 7 to step 6 the previous season as surely their PPG would be very favourable?

Attendance figures and the exchange of players between Scotland and England would place the Champ...
