Re: General Election 2019

Yet again I loosely termed it a "contract"...... I was told, as were all others that we had to pay these taxes and in return we received as needed. In my case that was from age 15.3/4 to 65. Seems fairly much like a verbal contract to me. You want to disagree? Not really interested. ... As indeed m...

Re: The UK as it will look in the future

I didn't say there would be. I said that the SNP make a pretty valid argument for another one. - Do you deny that Scotland voted by a larger majority to remain in the EU than the whole of the UK voted to leave. So by definition for the ruling party in Scotland to attempt to remain is a stronger mand...

Re: The UK as it will look in the future

The SNP received 45% of the vote in Scotland, and that includes the votes of people who want to remain part of the U.K. There is no mandate for another Scottish independence referendum. Conservative received votes of people who voted to remain in the EU - there is no mandate for a no deal brexit. C...

Re: The UK as it will look in the future

Boris should just ignore the SNP, they've had their vote & lost. The trouble is if there was another vote & the SNP lost, they'd just keep demanding a further referendum until they actually won. This is a deliberately blinkered view and you know it. 1. When Scotland first voted the advice was this ...

Actually completely agree it is the responsibility of the individual but unfortunately your mind doesn't work like that. Kids need to be taught properly about the value of money at an early age they aren't - and the shops and advertisers are well versed in how to sell things to people who can't real...

What excess income do you think 20-25 year olds have got - there is a reason that the bank of mum and dad are the biggest mortgage lender for first time buyers in the UK. Look I know the stats. I have seen them my entire job is trying to develop a way to help people manage their money better. - 50% ...

Re: General Election 2019

Massive results labour need a complete shake if they are ever to be in power again. The next 5 years will be telling I still don't think Brexit will fix everything as desired. I don't think it will fix public services for those who depended on them as promised it would. In 5 years when they are stil...

Re: Darlington v Chester

Nice touch to see recognition on the club website of Dave Purdie's role in sorting out the floodlight problems. Also quick thinking by Craig Morley in realising there was a fully qualified electrician in hospitality. DP almost as responsible for the win as Holness & Donawa! It was a good job D.P. w...

Gary Martin believe he is already training with us. Wouldn't be surprised to see him in the squad for Spenny away. He can't play for us till after the transfer window. We will have to pay him well as his pay in Iceland is tax free. Or as a Darlington fan who during close season wouldn't otherwise b...

Re: General Election 2019

Pretty sad right gloating / willing a situation where government has no meaningful opposition.

I highly doubt labour will win this election but the gap is surely opening up for a centre left party as it did in 1997? It is almost the natural order when the tories shift right.

Why on Blyth? Blyth don't care about what is behind them only what is ahead of them surely?

Leamington clearly troubled Spennymoor yesterday as well. It wasn't a comprehensive 3-0 win but puts Tuesday into perspective given the less than perfect preparation for the game.

Re: Darlington v Chester

Positives...thought we outplayed Chester when we had the ball. Donawa, Holness and Wheatley particularly impressive. I thought Liddle was immense at the back. He was up against their danger man and he won every tackle - he was also one our best outlets. We still miss a CB who can clear the ball. We ...

Re: Small clubs in the north west

I know it is nothing compared to his salary when he was playing - but Campbell is owed £180,000 from a what 9 month spell at Macclesfield.

He was contracted on (at least) £20,000 per month at Macclesfield...and that is assume he wasn't even paid anything.

There isn't really any "benefit of the doubt". More that you don't give what you don't see and otherwise the game just carries on.

Re: Leamington (A)

We have plenty of options once we get a striker in. I think the frustrating thing for Armstrong is that we are quite strong with a 3 man midfield (Hatfield / Wheatley / Holness) is pretty good but it leaves us so light weight up front. Once Atkinson is fit he may end up playing DM behind Hatfield an...

Re: Leamington (A)

Yeah, it is lopsided when you look at it. The thing is, Campbell was bought with the intention of him leading the line, and presumably at reasonable expense for this level. Unfortunately, I think we're approaching the point of admitting that transfer has failed. He's a supporting striker. With him ...

Fair enough so you were just stating it cold and it wasn't a response to my comment...

"Find a shred of evidence that Campbell was brought in a lone striker"

"Certain that when we signed Campbell AA said he wanted him to play as a central striker."

Re: Leamington (A)

We have two centre defenders, both play centrally. Goalkeepers play centrally - but you can only have one of them. A striker can play centrally and not be a lone striker - like when he played alongside O'Neill. In the same vein Armstrong wants him to play centrally alongside the striker he is trying...

Re: Leamington (A)

We are not conceding goals well at the moment. As soon as one goes in it seems like we can't shake it. Can't help but think we need to plan for it. We need to basically change our shape or change our approach as a default everytime we concede to just give ourselves 10/15 minutes of back to basics. H...

I can't really comment on any potential offside for the second goal, but it should've been moot anyway as I was right opposite the free kick and the ball was clearly rolling when it was taken. Re: Darlington V Telford

To be honest I didn't really read into the comments as a dig at Thompson or Donawa more that their impact is an effect of a lack of performance by the rest of the team. Effectively I read it as they didn't have a chance to impact. I've only seen the second goal so far and we do switch off completely...

Take car insurance.

I may say to you that the minimum cover you need is 3rd party.
If I took advice from you then I concur that I would have been negligent.

Yeh...but the other slight issue / aspect of this Ossett used the insurance provider and cover recommended by the league and the FA.

Accountability still sits with them but it definitely isn't that simple.
