Re: Southport Highlights

Remember the law on handball has completely changed this season - no idea about the scenarios you mention but if you effectively gain control of the ball in an attacking area from the ball touching your arm it’s a free kick. The only exception is where the ball ricochets off another part of your bod...

I mean beyond going over theatrically it looks like the Southport player actually tackled the ball.

Re: The Areana

Are sporting villages notorious money making machines? I still really struggle to see where the payout comes from the venture - especially if they are handing over the majority of assets to other sports clubs to use for their commercial benefit. That said the point above about it all being compensat...

Re: The Areana

There is something in ground grading about there being capacity on different sides of the ground I think?

Aren’t we creeping towards recession at the moment as well (depends what growth is like in Q3) not sure what capacity there is left for hotels and restaurants in Darlington in current climate.

Re: The Areana

I think both are as uncertain as the other right now. So until one of them moves and a decision can be made it’s a pretty pointless debate. That is my point until the boxes start to move towards the arena we are in the right place for the current time. There could be an increase on match day commerc...

Re: Curzon Ashton v Darlo

I could be wrong, but I think Darlington Albion are now Darlington Town in the Wearside League (our old reserve side). So if they play on a Saturday, that removes the problem of anyone potentially playing for them on a Sunday. Are they not still playing on Sundays as well? Or have they given them up?

Re: Curzon Ashton v Darlo

Take Dan Maguire out of the Blyth team last season and I bet their performances/results would have been similar to what we are seeing so far this season. Not easy to find a striker like that though. Gary Martin is back training with us in a few weeks time, not sure how long the Icelandic leagues br...

Re: The Areana

A big negative for the Arena is that it’s current owners won’t let us play there with a contract which could actually let us enter the league and they plan to put down 3G to maximise their revenues. so a) we won’t be able to play games and b) we will have the identical progression barriers that are ...

Re: The Areana

Where did I say BM ticked all the boxes? I said it ticks more than anywhere else at current state if play and if the SV / Arena is going for an artificial pitch it has just given itself the exact same barriers that you have said exist at BM - or are they only critical when it suits? - is appropriate...

Re: The Areana

Round and round the debate goes...without any new information to light so it is just the same debate. The best option for us as a club is a venue which; - is appropriately sized to suit our needs and can be rented and developed within our means - provides a matchday experience which meets fans expec...

Re: The Areana

By the way I am not saying everything is perfect. It isn’t and I think the catering could be improved still from what I hear (however after being on a stag do with most of the DRFC firsts it sounds like that is just the standard of their catering - it isn’t a deliberate non-effort for us). I am not ...

Re: The Areana

Bearing in mind of course they will really only do any good if they are allowed to stay there, or something of a full time nature can be put up. People quite often ask me where Darlo play these days, people from out of town simply don't know. Perception is misguided and often driven out of bias, ru...

Re: Curzon Ashton v Darlo

From what I can see we don’t need to do an awful lot different but cut out some errors - unfortunately I do feel that was said last year as well mind. The difference I suppose is we know this lot can play as they did it last season and we know that this lot are actually training together regularly. ...

Re: The Areana

My point is it is mostly perception. - Did Bishop let us keep all the bar sales? No they kept 100%, Rugby Club give us a proportion - Did Bishop let us put signs up outside? No. They sign always had Bishops next game advertised. The Rugby club have allowed a sign to be placed. - Did Bishop remove al...

Re: The Areana

Go on then. Name all the things that Bishop provided / allowed which made you feel ‘welcome’ that the rugby club have not done. Bishop wanted us out more than you think - I suspect they get more in rent from Boro than we paid and it doesn’t affect their match schedule. The only difference of course ...

Re: The Areana

Can’t understand the love of Bishop Auckland so much beyond the on pitch success we had there... - The amount of seating was less. - There was less space around the pitch so more impeded views - The covered terrace was no better than what we have now and was smaller. - the bar area was considerably ...

Good luck to him and TW...and well done on the goal.

He may still flourish he is still extremely young.

Thing that always bugged me is there is probably a reason no academy above NLN has invested in him though it is not like he would be an expensive investment.

Re: Gateshead Hospitality details announced

Isn’t it pretty standard that a season ticket basically gives you two games free.

Use hospitality twice and you have paid the entry price on your tickets for the match and have saved £10 in total on hospitality.

Re: Scouting Report - Motherwell Game

The pitch looks great but is in poor condition. It badly needs water and lots of it. That's why you can see so many shots flying wide and off target. The ball isn't sitting up to be hit as it does on a well-watered pitch. The pitch looked terrible the moment the highlights came on. The grass is yel...

Just watched the excellent as always highlights. Hard to judge from that but looked like we started brightly and then faded, Motherwell took control. To be expected really. Everyone is making a massive assumption that hospitality @ £45 next season is identical to hospitality last season. I am sure the club received feedback on the food last season. Re: Notes from the fans' forum

Yep, pretty much. Although it's not the full amount you need in. We had ourselves to blame for that playoff situation really. Blackwell was completely inadequate with only 250 seats. That stand doubling in size really made a huge difference. I suspect it would've been cheaper if it was done all at ...

As it stands, in such a scenario, the fans are left to pick up the pieces from their devastated club Unfortunately I think this would be ripe for abuse. Rack up debts, blame it on unscrupulous owner start again where you were. The only thing the FA could really do to stop these scenarios is rules a...
