I doubt if there's a queue of more competent people waiting to fill any vacancies on the National League Board.
Why the hell would anyone want to do it anyway?
The outcome is more likely to echo The Who's wise words: "Meet the new boss.....

Re: Board Statement 15 Feb
Big decision.
To my knowledge the Club has never refused to play a league fixture in it's 138 year history.
Fully understand the rationale behind it but it still leaves me with a numb feeling.

Re: DFC Voted for League to be Null & Void
There will also be Clubs who were hoping for the grants to mitigate losses which would have occurred even with fans attending. In the event that there are no further grants, the cynical side of me wonders if some Clubs have seen an opportunity to avoid losses with the furlough scheme and have theref...

Re: League restarts 6 February
Worst case scenario: we refuse to continue (for sound business reasons) and are punished by relegation / expulsion from the league. I would hope we would have the opportunity to fund raise to make up the ongoing shortfall before accepting any relagation / expulsion event. If there isn't an appetite ...

Re: League restarts 6 February
We have overcome worse than this to maintain our 100% record, since 1883, of fulfilling all of our fixtures. Sometimes against great odds like in 2012. It's something I'm particularly proud of as a Darlo fan. Worse than a global pandemic that has already killed over 100,000 people in this country! ...

Re: League restarts 6 February
It's the first time all the Clubs at lower levels have a communal reason for getting into the "financial mire". A reasonable number of them manage to do so every year without Covid. The current situation is simply providing a smokescreen for the underlying problems. The Cheltenham Chairman, on live ...

Re: Season at risk of finishing early
Perhaps it was a bit optimistic to start the season with a set amount of grant money on the table, which was insufficient to sustain the full programme without (potentially) any turnstile income.
Benefit of hindsight and all that.

Re: Season at risk of finishing early
We may be legally bound to pay players' wages anyway. I understand that the earlier Covid situation provided for a clause in their contracts which said that payments began only when the season began, but I didn't hear of any further clauses cancelling their contracts shoud a further Covid stoppage o...

Re: Boston Game To Be Replayed
Although Boston may count themselves unlucky, it's the correct decision. As Gramps said, where do you draw the line otherwise? To be fair, the goal came very quickly after the injury so I wouldn't accuse their players of unsporting behaviour regarding this particular incident. Normally, when there i...

Re: Moving swiftly on....
I realised today how much I want to see the inside of a stadium again. If nothing changes re covid, then i think our first opportunities to see anything will be the jan away fixtures at southport, chester and kettering, all Tier 2 for the moment. Or will they automatically just ban us because the r...

It could be worse.
At least we were only knocked out of the FA Cup once this year.

As a 500 member, I will certainly excersize my privilege to attend live games when allowed. I am going to miss the live streams though (assuming they will have to stop), especially for the away matches which I would probably not have travelled to. I've looked forward to Saturday afternoons again of ...

Re: Darlington V Telford
Well that wasn't much fun to watch second half. First things first, and most importantly we won't win games giving away the two goals we did today. We invite pressure onto ourselves at the back by failing to win the first header and take control of the situation. On the ball I actually thought Lain...

Re: Ground share
There's another angle to this.
If we do move back to Neasham Road, I hope the allowed capacity is as high as possible.
There will be a lot of football fans desperate to see live action but denied the chance due to imposed limits at their normal stamping ground.
This could actually be an opportunity.

Yes the Rugby Club have their sign. Oh wait it isn't that we want our own sign, we want to replace their one - is that what we are after? Just because there is one for the Rugby Club doesn't mean they didn't need Council permission to erect it. Existence of one structure with your name on it doesn'...

Something very simple that the Rugby Club could do as a signal of goodwill is to allow the Football Club to put a sign up at the entrance on Grange Road. I know some people think it is not worth making a fuss about but to me it is symbolic of our relationship. We are not even allowed to advertise t...
