Re: B T B Email

I can see us approaching a situation where income will not even cover the general expenses of running the Club (ie: the costs other than wages for playing and coaching staff). A quick look at the last few sets of accounts shows that the costs other than playing and coaching staff were: 2016 £252k, ...

Re: Sports Village (latest)

You can tell very little from small company accounts. It's just a balance sheet. The previous year's accounts illuminate the situation a little better: Their main current asset was £1.2m in debtors. Who on earth would owe them £1.2m you may ask?? The answer lies in viewing the accounts of DARLINGTON...

One thing that has struck me is how the loanees (perhaps with the exception of Nelson) have gradually drifted down to the level of the others after bright starts.

First visit since 2003. What a dump it is now. Clearly there's going to be a minimum of maintenance when it's due for the chop. If they weren't moving it would be desperate for an upgrade. It makes me realise how lucky we were to get the fantastic new stand at Feethams, in it's prime town centre loc...

Yes, it sounded like he wasn't 100%.
I also noticed that when the Man of the Match was announced, he shook his head (to the negative) whilst in full flight!

I'd be surprised if he'd seen any of the loan players before bringing them in.
More likely recommendations or conversations with the coaching staff from their respective teams.

Re: Netcafe - 14 December 2018

A rather bleak picture emerging from last night. I didn't realise we had an overdraft facility - that must be a fairly recent arrangement. It's ridiculous that an unpaid CEO should have to personally guarantee it. The upshot of this is that if decides enough is enough there will be no replacements c...

The money’s all coming out of the same pot.
If not, which budget did it come out of?
This is a £450k turn over business - they can’t just magic a full time wage out of “another budget’”

Gamble?

It's pretty clear that Styche and Syers have been moved on to pay for the new Commercial Manager. Whilst it seems sensible on paper, it's a huge gamble: Losing these two players may be what costs us our place in the NLN, with the attendant reduced income from lower crowds and (no doubt) lower admiss...

Fan ownership and involvement.

If I may, here's a brief diversion away from our current woes. Darlo fans' efforts over the last 6 years have been legendary, but Union Berlin take it to a different level. Went to see them a couple of years ago and was impressed with the atmosphere and singing. It was non-stop with fans still belti...

Re: Dave Syers gone

The accounts to 30th June 2018 will be very interesting. In year ending 30th June 2016 we posted a loss of £176,000, with coincidentally a spend on players wages of £176,000. Of course it's not a simple as this, but: you could argue that we had nothing to spend on wages that year. In year ending 30t...

Re: Dave Syers gone

The new Commercial Manager's salary has to be found from somewhere. In reality, selling all the advertising boards around the ground @ £500 apiece plus a few extra match sponsorships isn't even going to pay a basic wage. I'm assuming a capable individual is going to want a minimum of £25k a year oth...

Re: Resignation...

Just a gut feeling boys. In the mean time, let's all keep on blaming the manager. Things do feel a bit creaky, no doubt, but it doesn't make Wright any less culpable for the on pitch s*** show. What's really surprising is that there is no great outpouring of support for him despite the unbeaten run...

I notice Scarborough are well clear at the top of the Evo with James Walshaw the league's top scorer. It would be a nice trip next year.

Re: Styche gone this week

Here's the average attendances adjusted in line with an earlier comment, which noted that FA Cup games had been included. Revised figures (league only): 2016/17 - 1,739 (1,593 at Heritage Park, 1,872 at Blackwell, or 1,760 at Blackwell without the 3,000 game) 2017/18 - 1,461 (after 7 games, 1,575) 2...

Re: Styche gone this week

Very interesting debate.

Our average crowds in the Conference North have been:
2016/17 - 1,739
2017/18 - 1,477
2018/19 - 1,345 (so far, with winter to come).

The expiration of the 500 Club memberships is only going to compensate for the fall in attendances.

AW played 3 centre halves today. Wonder if due to the recent poor form then TW is delegating to him more. Also done all recent interviews. Strange to hear nothing from TW. Maybe he didn't want to face questions about today's big news off the field? Maybe just coincidence? Either way I always rate A...

Currently in the middle of a run of 12 fixtures in 21 days. It makes Spenny's programme look cushy. They have won 3 and drawn 2 of the first five and need another 13 points from the remaining seven to be sure of the title. Full marks if they do it.

Re: Darlington FC V Southport match thread

The last three home performances have varied from moderate to crap. In a very open league this year, we would have had a real chance of qualifying for the play-offs had this not been the case. Now that matters off the pitch seem to be under control, the "match day experience" is satisfactory (in my ...

Altrincham are up as Champions, with Warrington, Grantham, Ashton and Farsley in the play-offs with two games left. Shaw Lane in 6th place could still squeeze in. Some familiar awaydays there.
