Re: The last time we won 4 matches in the F A Cup.

Thanks for that - immortal stuff, the pathe film makes it look real end to end and it's nice to see clips of our gallant fans. Jimmy Greaves who played in the drawn game at Stamford Bridge, covers this match well in his auto.biography. My Father and most of my uncles were at the game and they all r...

 Nostalgia is ok for us oldies, but even I cannot remember Feethams without the Tin Shed, although I did see a number of games where the pitch was like a ploughed field, but a win in extra time....🤔 In that case you ain't "1 of us oldies" Regular as clockwork early season as soon as the half...

We can't complain we've had a good run with a borrowed player that's papered over the cracks. Good luck to the lad.

Spoke to Smudger at the game today, he's probably going to Walsall next week & on the way down he's stopping at Doncaster, as David Speedie wants to go to the game as well. Happy days. I must have heard people saying are you going to Walsall about half a dozen times today. I think this is lovely. T...

be in the mid 80's. an older physio for the opposition ran onto the pitch in front of the Polam end to attend to a player. mid run he turned his head towards the polam end, coughed and coughed his false teeth out....but caught them one handed in one smooth motion and promptly stuck them back in.

Re: FA CUP FIRST ROUND

It would be fantastic if we could get Ipswich town away a dream draw for Alun Armstrong one of his former clubs.we played them at Portman road in the league cup in the mid 1980's but I missed out has I was in a dead end job at the time. Also my favourite schoolboy club back in the days Bobby Robson...

Can you imagine the windfall of getting Man UTD away in the 3rd round....and we wouldn't have a desperate single owner chairman partly syphoning the cash for themselves and gambling the rest on the club. I recall Exeter getting Man Utd away in the cup a few years ago.....big windfall for them, but ...

Re: Tamworth V Darlington Match Thread

Anyone calling for Sunderland away or Hartlepool away (did they get through, I haven't checked?) is short sighted. The OBVIOUS best thing for us is the easiest possible home tie in round 1 because there is £36,000 on it. And we're due a home tie. Then if we get through round 1 - same again please i...

Re: FA CUP FIRST ROUND

There's a great stat in Craig Stoddart's Echo report; this is the first year that Darlo have won 3 FA Cup ties since 1988/9. That year we had three home draws and saw off Runcorn 4-2, Northwich 6-2 and Halifax Town 3-0 ( featuring Les McJannet's classy backheeled goal ). What makes this year's run ...

You can carry on asking fans to dig deep each season, or for a more sustainable future, the club need to boost its commercial income Whilst I agree that we need to boost our commercial income, how is that more sustainable than "asking fans to dig deep"? Once you get extra sponsorship, is it guarant...

He was OK when it came to heading clear with distance but O'Neill tortured him and the other central defenders. Ainge in general looked a fairly limited central defender who's a bit overly chunky and with no pace. Not missed really, we have better. Thanks LL ( and Q85) Sounds like he had a purple p...

Re: FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round - Away to Tamworth or Hereford

The aftermath of the game has really exposed what an angry atmosphere there is at Hereford despite them being in the play-off positions. They seem to back the manager Slade but want most of the players out, including Styche, who seems to be hated by most of them. And he didn't even play in the cup ...

it'll all come out in the wash. suspect Burns is not in the right mental state to play as opposed to physical fitness. we're also maybe not in a position to pay up his contract yet - or it's financially better for us (cash flow) to let it run down.
