I guess the question that then arises is whether there is scope to get BM to the Step 1 criteria by next March (or at all)?
I read the above explanation to be March 24, rather than March 23 for improvements to NL standard, but i get your point as that would be my concern too.

Re: So Faverdale or Skerningham

I've undoubtedly missed something, but the article only mentions the current status of BM (fit for NLN), and what the requirements are for the Football League. There's no mention of what the National League requirements are should we get there, or even get in the playoffs. I'm sure it isn't the case...

Re: Darlo’s worst XI

I think to make this thread more about genuinely bad players, it should be a case of only counting those who made, say 10 appearances or more for the club rather than those who might have played 20 minutes off the bench in the Lux Familiar Cup in the late 80s. Mind, if that was the case Noel Whelan ...

Re: Shortest DFC career?

Whelan definitely made it on the pitch at some point. From memory, Whelan made his debut at Dagenham, had a stinker and maybe pulled his hammy and got subbed off - possibly in the first half. Then when he'd got himself "fit" he did his hammy literally running on as sub from touchline to penalty are...

Re: Alfreton v Darlo - travel news

Probably more to do with Villa taking thousands to Forest, and County away at Lincoln - both relatively short trips and a piece of piss on the train.

I would think for us it may be a taxi job from Chesterfield if no sensible buses running.

Re: Relieved we're not getting promoted !

To not achieve promotion by not finishing in the requisite league position is absolutely fine and the way football works. To not accept promotion by finishing in the requisite league position and turning promotion down/not applying is fine in limited circles, but unambitious. To not want promotion f...

Re: Best ever Darlo players (Northern Echo)

Pawel Abbot was ridiculously good - probably my favourite player post-Marco, but the fact that more than a few missed Gabbiadini out of their teams astonishes me - surely a player who used to salvage and/or win games practically on his own cannot be worse than 3 other DFC strikers. With Marco, you n...

It seems he's looked at the points tally and thought "that's relegation form" without seeing who we've played and how close the games were. There's no doubting we've had some disappointing results but the relegation reference was a bit harsh imo. You'll find he's looked at the performances as I bel...

It's not just a bar, but even access to a food stall or somewhere you can buy a cup of tea or coffee.... people like to have access to these things at games. It's why they exist. It's part of the experience. You do know this is mandatory, right? We might even let them piss somewhere, but only if th...

D.R.A.S.T.I.C. anyone? What ever happened with the Darlington require a striker to increase crowds fund ? Was that in about 1994/5 season Think it was a bit after that - would it have been about 96/97 or 97/98 season - during the very dubious late-Brierley or Peden era? There was all kinds of murki...

There was also another ale "bar" on the opposite side to Moca, can't remember what it was called but the Real Alers enjoyed it. The pub opposite the Spoons in town evidently didn't do real ale, I never got in the door before the stampede coming out started. Something to do with "it's only John fucki...

At risk of being controversial, I really enjoyed watching the first series. OK, the obvious bellends aside I thought it was an excellent insight into a non league club and how they operate day to day, regardless of what you think of them. Yes, it's publicity for egomaniacs, but didn't we have simila...

Think you may have misinterpreted that - DF97 stated he'd be surprised if MG let Gaskell go and replaced him with a young un on loan. Implying he wouldn't let him go then replace him, rather than he wouldn't let him go.

I think?!

Re: Who do you want as the next England manager?

It has to be someone with enough passion and desire to be bouncing up and down on the touchline, like a Bilic or Conte or O'Neill (Martin), someone who kicks every ball, celebrates every goal like it's won a tournament and takes defeat like a relegation. The next England manager cannot be someone wh...

It might be a sorry saga, but under all of those mentioned above we had some very good times. The bad times were desperate, but the good times were mint. The 3-0 away to Northampton during Christmas 99 was as dominant a performance as I've seen from any Darlo era. Absolutely blew them (who ended up nabbing promotion from us, and Marco) away - we were totally unplayable that day. Otherwise, current era aside, the 3-1 away to Ebbsfleet in 2011 under su...

The way he got back to pressure their lad in the late one-on-one was quality, made up a massive amount of ground when the rest of our defence looked like they were wading through treacle. Their lad got nervous, then got a bobble and put it wide, but Weldon forced him into that.

I remember a Wigan away, on the open end at Springfield Park, poured throughout the game, local kids chucking stones. Re: Worst weather you've ever seen Darlo play in?

I was at the Scarborough game. It was 3rd Jan or something and my programme melted. It was not long after Alan Murray had taken over from Billy boy. We did indeed lose 3-0. Don't know if that was the red cards match. There was one game there under Hodgy where we lost 4-1 and had 2 sent off. The 4-1...
