Add to the above that most fans see the game through biased eyes, so every oposition player is a dirty cheat and every one of your own team is an honest fair player

Re: Law changes season 19/20

For a player to commit a foul throw, one whole foot has to be completely over the line. This was flagged up by Lineker on MOTD recently after a recent controversial goal, which might have involved Everton but I can't remember for sure. I've often shouted out to linesmen about this - but was seemingl...

Re: Guiseley match thread

Some points on your points - all in all it's a sad state of affairs. Maddison. Time to say goodbye if we can. He's cost us precious points this season and when we get in goalies on loan, they nearly always prove successful. Ainge. Judging by yesterdays performance he wants moving on as well, if we c...

Re: Best opponents faced this season

Altrincham were the only ones I've ever covered on DFR where I had their entire 1-11 memorised by full time, and didn't have to refer back to the team sheet. So I'm going to have to say them, I think Because of incessant changes, for most of this season I can't even memorise who's playing for us....

Ainge was particularly poor. Giving away stupid fouls, booting the ball into the abyss - like he was playing for Guisely.

If he was one of the players to leave soon, would we miss him?

At half time I was told by a Darlo supporter that he was heading back to the pub with his companion- I thought he was pulling my leg but then spotted them both being let out of the exit gate. and who can blame them. Anyway, what a dismal afternoon , we didn’t possess the will or guile to give...

Re: Tommy Wright: 19/20 Season. Yay or Nay

I cannot believe how some on here have forgotten what an absolutely dire season it has been. Poor summer signings, baffling tactics, changing formations even3/4 times in same game, poor use of substitutes with an odd exception, signing loanees and not playing them, signing clearly unfit players, pl...

Re: Tommy Wright: 19/20 Season. Yay or Nay

Ghost does make some good points but I will flag up one thing I don’t like. No team can just “bimble along lower mid table” this is not any kind of mantra to adopt. Fans and potential fans will simply drift away. I like Wright, and I thought up until recently that he was getting an overly hard time ...

Re: Darlington V Bradford PA

Gray acted badly whichever way you look at it. Before and after his quick departure. The way in which he acted (regardless of the ins and outs of his contract) proves that the most important thing about managing a football club to Martin Gray - is............... Martin Gray. Anyway, isn’t this just ...

Re: Darlington V Bradford PA

I had a search through the net cafe archives. I couldn’t find my question but found an answer to someone else relating to the Gray issue, and Beano I do see your point. It would seem that Gray had a period of notice he had to work through. D.J could have held him to that and told York that if they w...

Re: Darlington V Bradford PA

Well I’ve never heard that take on it, and if true it makes for a strange kind of contract, whereby it can be terminated by one party (and one party only)with no kind of financial compensation. Are you sure you’ve got this right? And no, we didn’t want Gray skulking around bringing everybody down. I...

Hope not or I'll be returning my season ticket when it arrives. For Aspin see Dave Penney. He’d probably be off to a loser with many before he starts because he’s a bit dour

Currently overseeing a hugely impressive run of cock ups and managerial changes at York. I wonder what he actually does there?

Re: TW - Learning His Trade

I liked Maddison, great shot stopper imo. I think he's had his confidence shot and hasn't regained in. Would like to think a fresh start in the summer for him and refocus. Come back in pre-season and be the GK we know he can be. Do we know he can be anything other than an error prone goalkeeper who...

Re: What Size Ground?

About 10,000 would do us. Feethams was around this and I believe York’s new stadium is about 8000.

There may be the odd match 3 or 4 times a decade where we could sell more seats but hardly worth the extra build|running costs.

My view (for what it’s worth) is that there needs to be a change. I like Tommy Wright a lot, he has a lot of good things going for him but this season has been awful. Quite simply he’s not very good at creating and organising a football team to win matches. Other managers are contstantly out foxing ...

Re: Boston V Darlington

It’s obviously great to get a win, but wouldn’t it be so much better for everyone if we could manage to get results when it really mattered, like at home in The Trophy, or at home in the F.A. Cup, or in numerous other points throughout this season before the milk went sour.

Re: Boston V Darlington

I watched the York/Boston game a few weeks back.

Boston looked pretty good to me and they had some flair, worked hard and played as a team. I reckon they will be too strong for our ever changing bunch of strangers/I mean - “now playing with freedom”, born again players.

Boston 2. Darlo 0.

Re: Democracy under threat.

That said, rather than another referendum, i'd sooner we entered an arrangement like the EFTA. Which does all of those things, but leaves the political union. I think it's a compromise, that doesn't require another nasty, hateful vote, and it compensates for some of the (to my mind, more reasonable...

The above post is a good one, and made me think - the playing field is no longer level, a bit like Spennymoor's infamous Brewery Field, or whatever it's called :) Since the referendum, a good deal of the 'leaving' arguments, and reasons to leave have slowed right down. Probably because that particul...
