It's hard settling for jam tomorrow but Lewis Carroll knew his football and that bread cast upon the water comes back buttered toast.
Very astute but I think you mean Andy Carroll.

Re: Leamington (A)

I mean this has been done to death now by loads of people on here - the fact is our on loan striker has gone, he hasn't been replaced, and with no plan B the whole team is suffering!

So, we've played 18 and got 21 points - does anyone know what the position was this time last year after 18 games?

Re: Leamington (A)

For me Lambert doesn’t really add a lot. Goal scorers are expensive/rare and every team wants one. AA stated after the Motherwell friendly that big lads up front are even harder to find because the trend in academies of late has been to develop smaller more mobile forwards. As for leadership in def...

Re: Darlington V Telford

A bit of credit needs to be given to Telford here. In the second half we just couldn't find a way through them, as they were so tight at the back - but then when they launched a counter attack they looked precise, neat and inventive. As the second half wore on it seemed like they had an extra man on...

Re: Darlington V Telford

Was that a little bit of a retort by AA in the post-match interview, when he said Justin Donawa didn't impact the 2nd half one little bit. Markedly different words from saying that someone faded a little. Sounds like he's saying 'That's why Donawa doesn't start. I haven’t seen this interview but to...

Re: Darlington V Telford

Why can we never put the ball in the net at the tin shed end ? This is one of our bad habits that's really beginning to grind on me now. Also Thompson was selfish today putting himself before the team if your carrying an injury like he obviously was then hold your hand up and be substituted don't e...

In fact is it even a “windfall” at all ?

Re: Solihull Moors Away - FA Trophy 1st Rnd

Just had a peek. Yep. Ted is back, or maybe he never went away. Either way, he's adamant to the point of exasperation that Solihull aren't bankrolled and that any money is made from their car park. Hang on, I'm a bit slow with this revelation - "Ted" is "Ed" ?? The poster Edjohns (strongly held pol...

Re: Solihull Moors Away - FA Trophy 1st Rnd

A lot of NL sides don't take Trophy that seriously. With Solihull pushing for promotion, they may well feel a weakened team. An interesting point, and probably the only chance we have of getting anything positive out of this game. I saw them on TV recently- they looked a really no nonsense, physica...

Re: Threat to Ossett United & football itself

Yeh...but the other slight issue / aspect of this Ossett used the insurance provider and cover recommended by the league and the FA. Accountability still sits with them but it definitely isn't that simple. More fool the club for not checking the policy covered their needs. What we dont know is what...

Donowa Looked sharp when he came on and scored a cracker.Surely done enough to justify a run in the team given our lack of firepower up front. Quite possibly but who you dropping to get him in the team? Has to be Campbell just not at his best of late and as I have said previously not really sure wh...

Re: BT Sport coverage Darlo vs. Walsall

To me Pete has a point, the stewards were ineffective but were they told to keep a low profile? Were they merely following the instructions they were given by the club or some stewarding overlord? I've seen stewards wading in to football crowds before and it never ends well, it always looks scruffy ...

Re: Flares /pyrotechnics

My personal take is that we should all be up in arms and trying to help rid the club of the morons once and for all. How is this possible though? They only turn up for the big games, and there's not many of those. Also the flares themselves will be easily concealed. A heavy police presence and big ...

There’s rumours that the fine could be in the region of £25k.. I don't believe this. The club couldn't have done much more I.M.O. but also that chance in the second half just took an awkward bounce off the surface and ended up away from his reach (legally...ie with his foot). If the ball had landed at his feet and he was clean through, his arse would have fallen out and he would have shanked it wide or straight at the keeper....

Re: Will Darlo go for the hybrid model?

As far as I am aware the idea of moving to a hybrid model was never based on using the cup windfall. This suggestion came entirely from Darlo Pete. The idea was mentioned by D.J quite a while ago, and is not related to cup windfall money. Darolpete mentioned the windfall money but he also mentioned...

Re: Will Darlo go for the hybrid model?

What you seem to be saying is to tell players the club is going to a hybrid model, but for one year only. Next year we don't have a cup windfall so we won't keep you on as a full time player. Get back to work Spen, you don't know what you're on about. This idea was mooted long before our cup run, s...

Re: Will Darlo go for the hybrid model?

It is a good idea and it is how we can progress in a sensible manner. The idea was mooted by D.J long before any cup "windfall" and I'm sure that D.J and A.A. will blend this system in well. It's all very well trying to pick up the cream of part time players but this is easier said than done and in ...

Re: Darlington V Walsall Match Thread

It was a great effort, I really enjoyed it and our players did not look out of their depth at all. I thought that Walsall played a good game - they just got on with it, without taking any risks and they never made a single mistake. They made it incredibly hard for us to do anything of note, so what ...
