Re: David Johnson : We are in a sad position
Never really understood how we were classified as elite sport in the first place. I would have thought that the definition of elite sport would have been to do with whether a team was professional or semi professional. Therefore the NL would be classed as elite because the majority of the teams and...

Re: Season paused
On my Interweb travels I’m picking up a suggestion from certain clubs that a way round this might be what is being termed “a 'Guernsey FC' option -whereby clubs who can't or don't wish to play could withdraw from the league yet keep their place in the division for next season, and leave those who do...

Re: Kettering Away Saturday 23rd January
Will the game take place? As well as all the doubts concerning the pandemic it seems possible that the pitch may not be playable anyway. Kettering Chairman has signed the letter to the League asking for matches to be halted so wondering if there will be much of an attempt to get the game on. I was ...

Re: Season at risk of finishing early
A Grant is given without a repayment. A loan has to be repayable . national league want the clubs take a loan repayable over a number of years .it's not difficult, it is a loan .not a grant as people are trying to make out.. I know I know roll: I had this last night, some people don't know their ar...

Re: Season at risk of finishing early
Options 1 and 2 are a grubby way to get clubs to pay for the duplicitous of the government and the incompetence of the National League. It was all a gamble that hasn't worked because the virus has remained. I wonder what the players think of it all? They obviously aren't happy about the testing regi...

Re: Season at risk of finishing early
A majority of clubs need to come to the same decision ,to put this season to bed and end the crass stupidity started by the national league management, who appear to be clutching at straws in order to wriggle out of their responsibilities to all clubs in their jurisdiction, These people have not ev...

Re: Season at risk of finishing early
There are three times in the past where we have effectively said we can not afford to continue playing. You don't just get a free pass of "that's fine, come back when you are ready". If the decision is not 3, as is our preference we can by all means furlough and shut down but we will be a) fined fo...

Re: Season at risk of finishing early
It’s a loan because the National League is proposing to take on the loan themselves. Nobody is disputing that. But it isn’t a loan to the football club, that is option 1. There is a difference between a debt, loan, and a funding cut required for the National League to re-pay its loan. There is no d...

Re: Season at risk of finishing early
It's like a loan in the way that it's money we owe that has to be paid back, and will be paid back. in fact it doesn't matter what it's called really as it's still a debt. Let's look at it another way. If we go with this idea, for every year that the Boost The Budget campaign operates in the future...

Re: Season at risk of finishing early
No, it doesn’t have the same impact. Taking on loans impacts our balance sheet, our liabilities as a business & our ability to lend in future, this won’t be the case if the National League takes on the loan. League distribution is worth around c£15k each season for us, that is the maximum which we ...

Re: Season at risk of finishing early
Number 2 is basically the same as Number 1 unless you get promoted or relegated. A reduction in income to the value of the repayment of a debt has the exact same impact. It's the equivalent of getting my mortgage taken out PAYE. Guess there are tax benefits. No, it doesn’t have the same impact. Tak...

Re: Season at risk of finishing early
With no fans or no grants, what is the benefit to our club (or any club) of continuing this season? I can understand the government wanting it to continue as they will clawback tax and N.I. from the money that will have to be borrowed in order to pay out the wages. Primarily the wages of players get...

Re: Season at risk of finishing early
I reckon there could be a number of clubs in the main National league who won’t want to play on, so any vote could be close to call.
And a fudge from the league would be unacceptable- this situation has been bubbling under for a while now, they’ve had loads of time to work out plans.

Re: Season at risk of finishing early
Just wondering, but if the League decided that clubs must continue to fulfil fixtures without grants, as loans are available, and the clubs decide that they cannot do this without a complete meltdown to their finances, what would be the options open to them? Could the League insist on them carrying...

Re: Home Kit Vote
Personally I don't think it should be a public vote. There's loads of people who only turn up to a match once a decade and are clueless about our club and our team. They shouldn't be able to influence kit. Season ticket holders and 500 club members could be included to open it up a little.

Re: Season at risk of finishing early
Another issue is the players. On another thread it was pointed out about whether or not it's a good idea at the height of a pandemic to send a bus load of players down to Weymouth, amongst other places. If the club is managing financially you could make the point that it's work - but if the end resu...
