You can’t get rid of Griff! He’s a good player, he’s experienced and he’s good for another season.

So what position will we be in if we have 2 good seasons and go up then make the national league playoffs?
That’s two immensely good seasons but if that was the case we would need to show that we have a a rental agreement with our landlords for ten years or more. Doable I would think.

Re: Gateshead - ineligible for playoffs

There's a lot of buck passing going on here but surely it's an issue that nobody wanted and nobody is really to blame for. GFC don't own their stadium and so unfortunately they are not in the driving seat, meanwhile the EFL want assurances from the council that the council just can't give, probably ...

You don't need a back up keeper at this level, so in my opinion Tommy should be released, he's just not good enough.

My thoughts too. He's either in/or out.

Re: Gateshead - ineligible for playoffs

I've stumbled over some paperwork re this. It seems that the Gateshead owners have known about this for quite some time and have been keeping it under wraps. They've maybe been hoping that the EFL would back down (not likely) or the council would manage to cobble something together (not possible whe...

Re: Chester Away All ticket

Johnston himself admitted at the AGM that the Board are really stretched and could do with some sort of paid assistant to help with the day to day running of the club. Mind you, I thought that was part of Uncle Ray’s remit, but I may be wrong. Ray's a journalist, he's not the person to do this sort...

Re: Gateshead - ineligible for playoffs

National League seem to have changed their mind on the impacts. Originally there was a bye for Solihull Moors who would have played Gateshead. They have now given the bye to Altrincham who finished in a higher position and Halifax have had to change their plans to play Solihull Moors...who didn't t...

Re: Gateshead - ineligible for playoffs

Reading more about this on BBC sport it seems like Gateshead have known about this issue for a long time - so it can't have come as a shock, maybe to the players who have obviously put a lot in.

Or, he might want to not play football and immerse himself in a new career. If that's the case he might not want to travel up to Darlo 3 times a week and be side eyed by fans and other players.

Re: Chester Away All ticket

Was Caton injury prone, or just plain s***? I can't remember to be honest! Sent from my Pixel 6 Pro using Tapatalk I looked at Caton's career info a few weeks back. He seems to often pick up decent contracts then not really produce. Obviously managers see something in him but then it doesn't work o...

Re: Asante Starts

Maybe time for Steve and Terry to sit down with Asante and have a serious talk about his future. Maybe he just needs telling that he has no realistic future with us and offer him a reasonable financial settlement. Otherwise we could play hardball, make him travel up from Birmingham twice a week for...

I’m not bothered either way but the thing about York for me is - they “have” a supposedly super, modern stadium, the 4th highest attendances in the league, people endlessly pumping money in and a very high opinion of themselves, yet, they’re not very good.

There are a number of petitions here, if the F.A. get enough grief they might reconsider.

Re: FA Cup replays scrapped from R1 in 24/25

The F.A. 🙄 They'll end up killing the goose that lays the golden eggs. The top Premier League clubs are pretty much foreign owned businesses employing many foreign players, managers etc, everything benefits them. If the P.L. got chucked out of the F.A. Cup it would make it better, not worse. It woul...

That’s interesting Lo. I can imagine Darlo at some point getting it together enough to get back in to the National League, and possibly bedding down to hold this status. This would be very hard, it would cost, but I believe it’s possible, and if we did achieve this, what an achievement. However I ju...

Re: Once the dust settles...

Putting any more investment in to developing BM would be like building a conservatory on a property you rent. It would, but what if you knew you couldn't buy a house for years, or possibly never, and you needed a conservatory? I fundamentally agree with you btw it's just that this ground issue is b...

Re: Once the dust settles...

This thread has morphed a bit from it's origins but there are some parts of Blackwell Meadows I like, such as the location, the way it sits in an almost countryside setting and the way it has character. This is all negated by the bad view of the pitch and some of the ramshackle facilities, some of w...

Re: Once the dust settles...

I take it you mean it won't belong to DFC? Yep. Remember the 36 inch water main going diagonally from open end that limits building. Surely we can't get rid of the Tin Shed - only part of Feethams we still have? Of course we could if it meant we could comply with the necessary ground grading requir...
