Re: Darlington V Southport

You can see how they won at Farsley midweek. If the ball is in the air all the time then the pitch condition isn’t a problem. The teams that will win at Farsley will be the ones that play hoof ball. Maybe it is time we had some kind of regulation regarding pitch quality rather than just the ref dec...

Re: Southport Highlights

The referee was inconsistent but that can bet said for most of them at the lower levels,
He was an improvement on the Gateshead ref but still not great.

Re: Blyth

Grays masterstroke was bringing in Harry Dunn who knew everything there was to know about the lower levels and which players would be good for us. Gray blended them into a great team as coaching was where he excelled. Yes, that and the enormous budget that allowed him to bring in the best talent in...

Re: Blyth

Going down this year, me thinks. Looking at social media, the fans are turning on Clark already. Squad is completely unprepared to play at this level. Who would have thought bringing in a manager with no knowledge of this level of the game could be a bad idea... It wasn't such a bad idea to bring M...

Re: Curzon Ashton v Darlo

I could be wrong, but I think Darlington Albion are now Darlington Town in the Wearside League (our old reserve side). So if they play on a Saturday, that removes the problem of anyone potentially playing for them on a Sunday. Are they not still playing on Sundays as well? Or have they given them u...

I’m sure if DFC had someone drawing attention to the pitch grass would have been cut. If we haven’t you can’t really blame rugby club
I suppose its down to if you want a pitch suitable for football or rugby.

Re: Groundsman

Well I guess there’s always something negative to moan about if you look hard enough. The standard of the pitch and its markings are key to a game of football, believe it or not. Wasn't the case last season that the ground staff had to mark out the penalty area again just before kick off due to the...

Re: Saturday

Having just listened to Michael Liddle's post match interview, where he mentions the way in which the current members of the defence are beginning to gel, I would think there will be little reason for AA to make wholesale changes to the starting back 4, bar the obvious need to replace Luke Trotman....

Hopefully Glover gets fixed up somewhere near his home in the Midlands. Would have been a crazy commute on his own for training and probably little (if any) match action. Maybe TW will try to bring him along again as he showed a lot of faith in him with a two-year senior contract as a young teenage...

A front three of Stonehouse, Currie and MacDonald was pretty good wasn't it?
Stonehouse usually played wide left for us that season, Alan Roberts was on the other wing.
Another one who passed far too soon was Stephen Bell who was usually the 3rd winger in that same squad. Died in 2001.

Scored a good goal years ago v Burnley when we won 4-2 I think, was a near post flick from a right wing cross. Great team goal.

Think we need to dampen any expectations, Armstrong certainly wants us to. Below are my thoughts and anything else will be a bonus. Not in the bottom 8 looking over our shoulder all season. Like to see the top half a few times. Possibly in with a shout of the play-offs all the way until end of Marc...

Re: Halifax Friendly Now at Blackwell Meadows

To be fair the derailment of the thread if mostly my fault. I queried why I and later other posters on this thread were being accused of abusing players, when there isn’t one post on this thread that does that. At the very worst there is very minor criticism, but if anyone constitutes it as abuse, ...

How many did Spennymoor sell by your calculations, i make it 810..... Still waiting for the Hartlepool total
But you haven't SOLD 810.
As for Hartlepool, they have their own forum. I'm sure if you join it they will give you the answer, or even try looking at their official site?

If you read my post all I said is that some fans need a whipping boy to have a pop at. Bascombe got off to a bad start with us and it looks like his every mistake gets picked on. No it doesn’t. Re: Halifax Friendly Now at Blackwell Meadows

Its a common theme, someone gets off to a bad start (i.e. Stockport away) and people make their judgement from that and will jump on any little mistake he makes to back up that view. There is always someone who is the target for this. I could easily name at least one for every season I have attended...

We all see games differently, I thought Bascombe had a good game, used the ball well and made some excellent long passes, also a nats nacker aways from a brilliant goal. Yes his pass was intercepted and resulted in a goal, but once you start the blame game at this level of football there’s somethin...
