And now an interview with Bascombe

Seems odd to be in "advanced talks" abut a new contract when we don't have a Manager yet?
Maybe the manager is doing the negotiating? (AW cough cough)

Re: New Manager Interviews this week

In line with tradition at this great footballing institution, the official news of the appointment will then be conveyed on paper, written on the reverse of the original facsimile sheet containing the Golden Share. This framed document will be carried out of the clubhouse by Paul Connor and Michael ...

Re: New Manager Poll

I’m shocked that Alan White has got 5 votes! Surely part of the problem rather than the solution? A team who couldn’t defend for s##t all season I voted for him...natural leader, FL/local contacts, great defender, strong links to town and club, good work done with Academy. I’d also say that a) we d...

If you want a budget option then go AW with Thommo as assistant...30 years old, senior pro and all that. That would save a fortune

Is this a joke?
Not if we’re on our uppers, no. Gotta be better than someone from the Pitchfork League or Chris Bloody Hardy

Yet he’s generated £170k in transfer business, had to sell our prize asset CF and midfielder, seen two of his team represent their country, do a mid-season rebuild with loans...he steers us 15 points clear of the drop and, oh yeah, sets up an academy for the good of the club rather than himself as w...

Re: New Manager Poll

I think style of play is something we need to look at. I'd like us to be a lot more direct and hard working than we are at the moment, with a midfield which is fit, strong, and wins the ball back, and at least one defender who will happily chuck some opponents in the air. I think, given our budget,...

Re: Who do we fancy then?

Armstrong lives at Wolsingham, handy for his Academy at Shildon and closer to Darlo than it is to Blyth ...‘less wear and tear on wor car’ . Could also bring fellow former Darlo legend Daz Holloway with him

Re: Who do we fancy then?

Look at our goals of the season...some of our football was mouth watering. We just needed to back up that attacking flair/intent with some bite in midfield and we’d not be far off. I think AW was right to say that. This is a part time squad, so inconsistency is to be expected. I’d rather watch an in...

Re: Who do we fancy then?

It’s odd that DJ has come out strongly Re AW staying put as assistant. Maybe a replacement has already been identified who has OK’d this? If so it could be someone who has worked with/knows AW. Or...AW is being kept on as he knows the club/area whereas our new No1 is more left field and from outside...

Re: Wright has left the building

Very weird timing just before the last game. I doubt AW will remain here as any new manager will want to bring in his own team. I think the timing is good as it will allow sentiment and good feeling to rule today rather than tension/speculation. As for AW, I agree. New managers generally do like to...

Re: Wright has left the building

I thought we’d win the last three games comfortably and finish the season on something of a high. I think the weird flatness of the performance and crowd at Guiseley must have played a role, unless it was down to him knowing already

Re: Time for Gray to finish the job.....

While many will resist this is it time to hold our noses and get Martin Gray back to finish what he started. In my opinion yes he may have acted Billy Big Bollocks by trying to get Singh back at the club, but he did have the rug pulled from under him when we would have been denied promotion due to ...

Re: Wright has left the building

If you look again at the goals of the season reel, we play some brilliant football at times. We’ve also had some shockers and haven’t been able to hold onto leads enough. You also feared the worst in any game where we went behind. That said I’m sad he’s gone and would have given him more time. Maybe...

Re: Guiseley match thread

50 Years sums it up well. It was a drab game with long periods of eerie silence from the crowd. Great away following but very little to cheer. First half we were awful. We played better second half. Guiseley weren’t interested in adding to their tally after the break and just lumped it forwards, oft...

Re: Tommy Wright: 19/20 Season. Yay or Nay

Yay from me. Yes he’s been naive at times and he’s made some mistakes. However I think the missing fans are down to a few folk realising that the steamroller years are over rather than TW himself. They’d still not be turning up if we’re top ten imo. I agree with the stability notion. We finished las...

Re: TW - Learning His Trade

When we click we play some great stuff. I get the points made above but I can accept that inconsistency is part and parcel of life in non-league unless you are big-spenders with significant resources at your disposal. Anybody can beat anybody in this league. Next season is a worry in that three weak...
