Re: Guiseley match thread

Unfortunately though, whether he's sat down, leaning on the dugout or shouting, what TW clearly doesn't do on a consistent basis is have his players motivated, fit and organised for battle.

Re: Darlo -Diary .We need significant change.

For me, everything is now pointing to the end of the road for TW. I expect us to hear something once Saturday is done and dusted. It's surely the only possible outcome for the wellbeing of the club.

Re: Guiseley match thread

Yesterday's results mean it's all sorted with regards to relegation but the promotion battle from the Evo Stik Prem is going down to the wire. Farsley just need a point at home to Marine on Saturday to take the title and they've made the game free to everyone, great gesture. If they make it, it will...

Re: Best opponents faced this season

Altrincham were the only ones I've ever covered on DFR where I had their entire 1-11 memorised by full time, and didn't have to refer back to the team sheet. So I'm going to have to say them, I think Hopefully by the time we play them again they will have signed Lucas Papaconstantinou, just to keep...

Re: Guiseley match thread

Darlington 1 out of 10 Guiseley 1 out of 10 Ref 1 out of 10 And that's being extremely generous. A truly dreadful display and the hundreds who travelled seemed to be rewarded by players with their summer flip-flops on. We deserved better than that from TW and his players. Where was the game plan, wh...

Re: Blyth...

Blyth might just get picked apart by the new kids on the block, Morpeth, and their minted backer. They'll be in the NPL next season but are aiming for National North after they add a few more players. They were second bottom of Northern League Div 2 in 2010-11 playing in front of 75 fans but haven't...

Re: Grange Road Sign

Given that we have played at 4 venues in the past 16 years it's not surprising that fans, particularly of clubs we haven't played for some considerable time, aren't that clear on where we are now. Lots of these fans don't take any interest in us now we are lower down the pyramid. It's not because of...

Re: TW - Learning His Trade

Re the loans, this has been an area where our management got a lot of things right.. From Turner to Jackson, Smith, Palmer and Nelson, TW/AW mainly did a sound job in identifying and getting in the right people. And it was needed after the summer recruitment failings and players moving out for finan...

Re: TW - Learning His Trade

Maybe the tide is now turning with regards to TW's future. His comments after the game are quite interesting, and telling, I think. Referring to the upturn in results he said: "It won't completely say sorry for what has been and gone but I think it will go some way to restoring a bit of faith. That'...

Re: Darlington V Bradford PA

I thought Jake Turner looked very assured today with his shot stopping and dealing with crosses. Sound keeper who looks capable of carving out a decent career in the game.

Re: Blyth...

In May last year Blyth pushed the boat out when they handed Armstrong a pay rise with a new two-year contract, plus one-year option, after he had previously been linked with every North-east managerial vacancy that came up.

I wonder how their budget compares to ours. I see they are saying they need to raise their attendances from 700 to 1,000 to remain competitive and financially viable at this level and would need 1,500 if they go up. They'll be crappin themselves if they did somehow sneak up. Armstrong has done a goo...

He has struggled to get into the Harriers side and it looks like the substantial appearance cash we were due when he set the Scot Premier alight aint gonna materialise.

Re: TW - Learning His Trade

I can't see how TW acted with undue haste over the goalkeeper situation. We only brought Turner in at the beginning of March so Maddison had plenty of time to iron out the mistakes and show everyone what he was capable of. He's had some good games as at Southport when we got a point largely thanks h...

Re: TW - Learning His Trade

I get why some people want to keep TW on because I've also sometimes been ambivalent about him. There have been games when we have played well (although often only for part of a match) on the front foot and picked teams apart, as in the second half on Saturday. But just when you thought we had turne...

Re: Boston V Darlington

Can't keep up. Thought TW had wasted his budget on poor signings, now they're a top ten side who should be fighting to go up. Make your minds up. I think all that people have done is reported how they saw today's game. But if you're going to widen the debate it does need pointing out that in the se...

Re: Boston V Darlington

You'd normally think a manager was taking a huge gamble making 3 subs all at once at half-time but it turned out to be an astute move by TW as we dominated the rest of the game and they hardly crossed the half-way line. A good comprehensive victory in which we were solid, well organised and carried ...

Re: Next season

Not sure where he'll end up but I don't reckon he'll be at Alfreton next season if Billy Heath's still there. It's always looked an uneasy relationship and on Saturday he subbed Styche at half-time (wasn't injured) on a day Alfreton lost 7-0 at home. I don't think Styche was too impressed and the fe...

Re: Darlington V FC United

TW's summer recruitment really came back to haunt him this season. There were a handul of crucial signings in key positions which didn't work out. A keeper who had to be replaced, a key central midfielder who couldn't play there, had major issues and then left and a central defender who proved a dis...

Shouldn't the FA be warning Spennymoor about the conduct of Chandler and how he incited the crowd to act the way it did. The abuse he received off some of your scumbag fans next to children was well out of order, which led to a heat of the moment incident. Don't think Chandler had received any gip ...

Re: Darlington V FC United

You don't have to be the most nuanced person in the world to see which way the wind is blowing with regard to TW's future, you only have to look at his demeanour in his interviews. What is clear is that he believes that people have over-reacted in the slump towards the relegation places. He says in ...
