Re: Fans forum needed

It might be just me but I'm not really sure what you are suggesting with this post and why it needs a fans forum and what "if true it is worrying" means. And why we need an immediate update on finances.

Re: Burn Gone

One thing about AA as a manager really does stand out. If a player has ability and the right attitude, is hard-working and always gives 100% to the cause, then he is given every chance and is part of the plans, even if not necessarily in the side every game. He's pretty much said this himself. I don...

Be good if the Rushden side is filled with brutal cloggers and the match turns into a strength-sapping slog on a bog of a pitch... although sadly the last part may not be possible :D

Re: Tamworth...

I think the installation of the plastic pitch has affected the view of the goal lines when stood behind the goal. The picture below was taken at the cup match against Hereford and it looks like the pitch is a fair bit lower than the one at the top of the thread which was taken when it was a grass pi...

Tamworth are 7th. Stratford are 12th with 4 wins from 11 league games. They said they sacked him because of disappointing results and performances in league and cup.

Re: Bradford PA...

I see that Liam Hughes played up front for Bradford PA yesterday, he left Stratford after TW's sacking. God knows how many signings Bradford have made this season. They're on their third management team and each one has signed loads of players, only for them to be recycled by the next lot in charge....

Tamworth...

Just looking at the away end we'll be housed in next Saturday and a few hundred of us should be able to get a right old racket going in this shed. Is 500+ making the trip realistic? Seems to be a fair bit of interest growing and this run will certainly boost the numbers travelling. https://lh5.googl...

Re: Ainge

Someone asked how he played and people answered as they saw it. I don't see much in the way of abuse. Ainge never looked very happy while with us and clearly wanted to move on and effectively got a permanent transfer elsewhere. I think we now have better players for the way we play. So all parties a...

Re: Ainge

He'll never again play as a striker, those days are long gone now. He's good enough at defending high balls with his head and belting it clear. And yes he was a nuisance at set-pieces because of his ability in the air. Personally I would rather have Galbraith, Storey and Laing.

Re: Darlington V Boston

Fantastic display by O'Neill who had their defenders panicking every time he was on the ball. He was superb attacking them with the ball at his feet and seemed to relish the physical battle too. We deserved the win and dug in well when we needed to second half. We were also denied a stonewall penalt...

Re: Ainge

He was OK when it came to heading clear with distance but O'Neill tortured him and the other central defenders. Ainge in general looked a fairly limited central defender who's a bit overly chunky and with no pace. Not missed really, we have better.

Re: Darlington V Boston

When Spin is lecturing us on footy finances (and how to do it properly and sustainably) at this level, he is clearly implying that clubs like Spendy show the way. Of course the truth is that the main sponsor of Spendy is Great Annual Savings and in fact several of the board members/officials of Spen...

No, it's different this time. He said when he took over at Pools: "I’m a lot older, wiser, dafter even and would like to think I’m a different person than when I went into Darlington. I’d like to think I’m much better equipped to be chairman of a football club. The reason is purely I’m a football fa...

Re: Darlington V Boston

One of the kings of bankrolling, Fylde, have found it isn't always plain sailing just because you chuck huge amounts at the squad. The Blackpool fans have deserted them now, they had a sub-1,000 crowd recently and have dropped into the relegation zone. Wonder if they've still got the 2022 on their s...

If you include caretaker stints, when the new man is appointed it will be the 11th manager in place since February, 2016 (Hignett did keep getting recycled). Wow.

Re: Darlington V Boston

Wasn't it the case that when he was with us he always wanted to play as a striker (even though it wasn't working) and was unhappy having to play in defence? Well, he now seems to have accepted that he's no longer a striker and is happy to be only used in central defence.

Re: Darlington V Boston

Simon Ainge is described as one of their "star performers" and they are hoping he will overcome an injury to play. He doesn't play up front anymore. Wonder what sort of reception he'll get from the fans. Apparently the only competition he can't play against us is the FA Cup.

Re: FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round - Away to Tamworth or Hereford

The situation at Hereford will also be of direct relevance to us on November 2 when we host them. It was a surprise to me to find that far from a united assault on promotion with a growing feelgood factor and big new signings, all doesn't seem well among the fans, who want lots of the players out.

Re: FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round - Away to Tamworth or Hereford

The aftermath of the game has really exposed what an angry atmosphere there is at Hereford despite them being in the play-off positions. They seem to back the manager Slade but want most of the players out, including Styche, who seems to be hated by most of them. And he didn't even play in the cup d...

Best not under-estimate them. Apparently the club has a "performance analyst" who produced a video of the penalties that Hereford take. Her preparations weren't needed for a couple of the spotkicks which were last seen on a trajectory to the Moon :D

When asked about the Darlington game, the Tamworth management have already said: "We don't fear anyone." They believe they've got a very winnable tie on their own patch.
