Re: Trotman joins villa

So the club have carefully considered it and are fully supportive, AA's absolutely fine about it as he has explained in detail, the fans are OK about it and it won't be detrimental to Luke's recovery. But Scott Wilson is outraged. Seems like there is just one odd man out in all of this and he is the...

Re: Contracts

Not everyone is as cautious with their contracts. Kings Lynn have just signed striker Dayle Southwell and given him a two-and-a-half-year contract. He had apparently been on more than £1,000 a week at Halifax.

Re: Contracts

That doesn't quite tie in with what he said when he arrived... that he was in it for the long haul and it was a long-term project. Only Pete could be forecasting the end of the AA era after it has only just really begun!

Re: Guiseley

That was a brave battling win in keeping it at 2-1 in the face of another team who make full use of long balls, long throws, corners and free-kicks. It was a real bombardment at times from set-pieces. Reid was excellent again after having to switch to defence and Hatfield and Wheatley stayed strong....

Re: Guiseley

I thought Will Hatfield's interview might just rile the Guiseley fans and it has done. When asked if he had one or two mixed feelings going back to his old club, he said: "I enjoyed my time there but I was ready to move on from there. It's the best thing I have ever done.... come into this club now,...

It's also good that we have a young striker like Campbell who seems able to create goals out of nothing and should get to 20 goals this season.

Re: Spennymoor game off

I see Kettering did a Spenny today and tried to pretend their pitch was OK and allowed players and fans from Hereford to travel before it was inevitably called off just an hour and a half before kick-off. The pitch at Kettering looked nearly as bad as the Football League standard surface at Spennymo...

Another looming personnel problem is that I think Wheatley is now on 9 yellows, one away from a two-game ban. And he's in great form.

Re: Darlington V Alfreton

The playoffs are very much on. They barely laid a glove on us in the second half and we seem to have good reliable options all over as in the successful switch of Reid to defence. We deserve better crowds... National League here we come :D

Re: Spennymoor game off

When they announced the huge investment at the ground, including a brand new "Football League standard" pitch and cutting-edge covers, the impression given by the club was that postponements were a thing of the past. I don't think anyone wanted to admit (and certainly not to Groves) that the hugely ...

Re: Spennymoor game off

Given the amount of rain that had fallen it would have been prudent to get a local ref to have a look at the pitch in good time. They didn't and allowed fans and players to travel, even issuing assurances that everything was OK.Of course, once the ref deemed areas of the pitch unfit, they immediatel...

Hatfield v Falkingham should be a tasty battle and I'm quite pleased they've let Joe Leesley go on loan to Stevenage. He always seemed to be a thorn in our side.

Re: Darlington V Solihull Moors

They did take it to another level. I don't think I've ever been to a match in which I've seen that kind of tactic used to such a degree. It seemed for long stretches all that happened was the keeper or defenders just punted the ball as long and high as they possibly could over and over again in the ...

Re: Darlington V Solihull Moors

No wonder they only had about 15 fans tonight. I wouldn't cross the road to watch dreadful hoofball like that, never mind suffer a 340 mile round trip on a Wednesday night. Constantly lumping the ball into the air for the many giants is clearly effective in their league but I'm glad that dreadful wa...

Re: Gary Martin

The really frightening thing is that some fans (thankfully very much in the minority) were in favour of handing over another budget to TW to see how he got on this time. That is despite the complete pig's ear he made of the whole thing last time when we were left with a small, lop-sided, ineffective...

Re: Gary Martin

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has heard suggestions that he can be a bit of a difficult character, particularly if things aren't going well. And taking the captaincy off Turnbull and handing it to Styche wasn't TW's finest decision. Having said all that, as we saw, he can lead the front line ver...

Re: Gary Martin

You get the feeling that Hereford may eventually pay a heavy price in the fall-out out from this season. They clearly decided to give it a real go and it was reported they were set to have a footballing budget of around £700K. They really splashed the cash and assembled a huge squad of players, clea...

Re: Darlington V Gloucester

I would guess our £300k budget would have us as one of the middle group in terms of spending, bigger than the likes of Gloucester and Leamington but dwarfed by several clubs like York, the Pride, Chester, Hereford and others. One thing's for sure, our playing budget has been handled much more wisely...
