Re: Sports village

We know 100% that the club is in safe hands (ours) and we won't wake up one morning after a promotion match to find some twat saying: "I have put millions of pounds into this football club and it is with a heavy heart that I have made this decision to put the club into administration."

Re: Sports village

I think DJ has already said that building an entirely new ground from scratch (with clubhouse and artificial pitch attached) to further our ambitions would potentially involve tweaking the current model (with safeguards) to try to bring in private investment who would be paid a yield. Whether that w...

Re: Sports village

Don’t know what the problem is.They only wanted the council to come up with 17million :o :o I'm sure they need every penny they can get as they have a big, full-time, professional squad and have been running at an average attendance not far off half of ours (and that includes free under-16s and che...

Re: Sports village

The problem with the Arena site now is that the important safety net of council involvement is now being withdrawn which massively increases the doubts about the site's long-term future. It would be a brave decision to tie our club's future to that site given the huge doubts now hanging over it. The...

Re: Sports village

Wonder where this leaves the guarantee that the council gave for a £2.1m rugby club loan along with the £50,000 the council chucked in to the plans and £450,000 from the Tees Valley Combined Authority for a scheme that is now said to be not sustainable, overly ambitious and too risky.

Re: Alan Walsh

In the Fred Barber interview in this great series, he paints a vivid picture of being a young lad sat in his shirt and tie, a bundle of nerves, on the 722 double-decker bus from Ferryhill ready for his Darlo debut. Fred shone from the off and later went on to also show how to really make a mark in a...

Brackley are also taking part. The finances are a "challenge" but no fundraising required. Allan Leighton has a big sofa :D. They are also building a new stand and new clubhouse which has required fundraising. I really hope they go up... with apologies to our southern mob!

Re: Increasingly unlikely playoffs

Chester are having to think long and hard over the major financial implications and you can see why when you read their latest update. They say they won't put the financial security of the club at risk. They've lost their benefactor whereas it's not an issue for a club like Brackley with their multi...

Looks like Chorley are also having major cutbacks. Most of the established names are leaving as spending is pared back following their ill-fated stint in the National League.

They lost the revenue from our remaining 4 home games that bit the dust and all the various functions that must have been lined up over the past few months. A closed bar and function rooms plus no income from your tenant can't be good news.

This is what Tommy Wright had to say after sidelining Burn and calling on him to show some fight: “The reality is that Jonny has not done well enough to stay in the team. He knows my thoughts on that and he agrees with me. He will have to be patient, he will have to work hard in training and it’s up...

Interesting that DJ is again stressing the need to have our own ground (or shared ownership) where we can generate much more revenue to drive the club forward. Obviously the now much-delayed SV is again mentioned as a possible route with us eventually being handed a plot to develop a ground after us...

Re: Increasingly unlikely playoffs

Altrincham reckoned it would have cost them £50,000 to take part in behind closed doors playoffs with a full testing regime but they were up for the gamble to try to get back to where they feel they should be. However, they've accepted that it's now gone and they are just focused on next season.

Don't worry, I'm sure the leaders of one of the plague capitals of the world will do what's right for people's health and welfare. Mind, if it's OK for thousands of protestors to be cheek by jowl all over the country, then 1,400 footie fans in BM for a 90 minute match in the open air doesn't seem li...

Gloucester City aren't letting their Boost the Budget inertia get in the way of splashing the cash. After a month they had raised £596 from 23 donors towards their £10,000 target. But that hasn't stopped them from signing Chester top scorer Akwasi Asante (rumoured to have been on £750 a week) and Ge...

That cannot be so. I'm sure the Pride press statement said there was a "very similar offer on the table from Darlington". Are you saying that they are not being totally candid? Surely they are normally as solid as the pitch-side fencing.
