Re: Blyth

The fans are already turning on Lee Clark and that will be cranked up a couple of notches should they lose at Bradford PA on Saturday.

Re: Southport Highlights

He didn't go a bundle on the wind either. I get the feeling that if it had been winter there would have been the wrong type of snow for laugh-a-minute Liam and his merry bunch :D

Re: Southport Highlights

Liam Watson believes it's just refs favouring the North-east side rather than an impartial decision on the incident. "With it being in the North-east, you're always going to get the decision against you because that's what happens," he scowled. And don't get him started on our big pitch..... "And th...

Re: Darlington V Southport

Best case scenario is that Liddle has jarred his knee and it settles down, worst case is ligament damage.

Re: Darlington V Southport

Liam Watson seems to suggest that they lost because we adapted to the wind better and they didn't come to terms with playing on a wide pitch. I think it was more that we played the better football and were just, well, better all over the pitch. Their only tactic seemed to be long throws and belting ...

Re: Darlington V Southport

It's great that we've got Liddle who can do a very good job on the left or right and Watson who can play at left back or as a central defender if needed.

Re: Darlington V Southport

Watson was very solid, and considering he is clearly right footed, thought he was very comfortable at left back. Just to point out, Watson is left-footed and was in his natural left-back position. Liddle is the one playing out of his normal position, having to switch from the left-back slot to righ...

Rumour is that Dale may be on his way out of Blyth, not even in the squad today and he's not injured.

Re: Darlington V Southport

The good news is Wheatley came on and Atkinson must be getting close now as he was on the bench. We'll eventually need loans if we keep losing players like this every game.

Re: Darlington V Southport

In terms of organisation, workrate, solidity and cutting out mistakes, probably our best peformance when you look at how powerfully Southport had started the season. Even had to cope with a major defensive reorganisation after what may well be another serious injury, this time with Liddle on crutche...

Re: Darlington V Southport

They are a big, strong, physical, full-time Liam Watson side and their fans are very confident of extending their great start to the season with a victory. However, I don't expect many of them will be travelling to watch it as plans to run a supporters coach were scrapped due to lack of demand. Didn...

Re: Ryan Hall

This is not surprising as the PrideOfEvenwood have a first-team squad of 23 , which doesn't include any of the club's youth players. They have 10 midfielders/wingers and up front Adam Boyes is settling in to his usual ten-minute slot near the end of a game. It'll be a tough task keeping all that squ...

Re: The Areana

A planning application for the Sports Village is due to be submitted later this year so things are set to be moved forward. By that stage we should be in a position to make an informed choice based on all the facts and figures and a detailed look at what's actually on offer for the football club.

Re: The Areana

These kind of things are usually only attractive/feasible for football clubs when local councils and private investors come together to plan a community stadium with other developments as at York and Leamington. In those cases it would involve building an appropriately sized stadium fit for purpose ...

Re: The Areana

You can buy an adult season ticket which equates to £9.66 a game. I think it also covers other benefits. A season ticket equates to £8.33 a game for concessions. It's free entry for Under-16s for all Mowden Park games at the Arena. Free parking at the ground as well.

Re: The Areana

The Arena still has a grass pitch and the stadium itself is sorely in need of painting as it is looking a real rusting hulk now. Can you imagine how much a full paint job would cost. Mowden Park's average crowd last season was 887 in the 25,500 capacity stadium.

Wasn't it always stated that a 4G pitch is the big money-spinner, which is what Mowden Park intend to lay at the Arena to boost their coffers.

Re: The Areana

When it comes down to it, we'll be offered a chunk of land on which we can develop a ground fit for whatever level we want as part of the sports village grand plan. So we'd probably have to pay off anything we were contractually liable for at BM and then start from scratch, lay out a pitch, barriers...

Re: The Areana

While there are some plans outlining the "vision" of a sporting village, we don't yet know all the implications for the football club... what's envisaged, what's possible and, crucially, what would be involved financially. Until all that is presented in a clear and detailed way I don't think anyone ...

Re: Curzon Ashton v Darlo

They were fit, fast and effective on the ball but, to be honest, I don't think most sides will be as generous as we were in handing over easy chances to them. We'll have to meaner, tighter and more solid than that. Switching off in that slack manner for the crucial second goal after we had just claw...

The game helped back up the view that this league will be very open, given that a ten-man Kettering side beat the useful Telford on the opening day of the season.

Re: Darlington V Kettering

Interesting comments from AA in the programme asking for fans to be thoughtful in criticising players on social media and forums. Seems to be saying he has confidence in the squad he has assembled and if individuals hit a bad patch or make mistakes that doesn't make them permanently bad players who ...

Re: Darlington V Kettering

The flexibility of the squad was really pleasing today. Liddle switched to the other side seamlessly and Watson came in and was rock solid on the left. Bascome slotted into the midfield with an impressive display and going forward we picked them apart and they couldn't live with the pace and movemen...

Re: Groundsman

I'm sure AA has made the point that it's important for us to have a pitch that suits our play best and that means the pitch needs to be cut short before we have a game. It's not a great deal to ask and surely it forms part of the contract. All right there's been rain during the week which may have g...

Our second player to suffer an Achilles tendon rupture within a short space of playing time. Must be very unusual and unlucky. Terrible for the player and a massive blow for the club.

Re: Gateshead game...

The pertinent word was used above... PATIENCE. It's what we need to show as supporters instead of trying to single out individual players in analysing why we haven't got six points from two games. I'm confident that we'll be moving in the right direction under AA but it's a work in progress for play...
