Re: Local clubs released lists
Some of them rate the former Gateshead midfielder/defender Elliot Forbes, who's also out of contract at Blyth and has in the past also inevitably spent time on loan in the land of the vibes. He seems to be quite versatile between midfield and defence. He's not universally popular though. The fans wo...

Re: Local clubs released lists
This is going to sound really sad but I listened to their Green Army fans' podcast in which they rant about all the failings and what the future holds for the club and players. Between all the expletives you do get a sense about the few that were rated.

Re: Local clubs released lists
It looks like pretty much the entire squad at Blyth is out of contract and Jon Shaw will be highly likely to get the push so can't really enter into talks with players. There are strong rumours that some have already sorted out deals elsewhere. If that's the case, I hope we're taking a look at Finn...

Very best of luck to him in the future. The total support he gave to Young spoke volumes about him. I'm sure he'll get sorted with another club sharpish.

Re: Retained list
Presumably Hayden Lindley will be released by us after he's finished with the play-offs at Pontefract Collieries. He scored his first for them on Saturday in a 6-0 win. On his limited chances with us he always seemed fairly composed on the ball but maybe lacking on the physical side in this league. ...

Re: Ben Liddle leaves
I wonder if Will McGowan at Blyth is on the radar. Formerly with South Shields, he's a very good midfielder and a stand-out performer in a poor side and may well not want to drop down a division. Just 21 and from Newcastle.

Re: Gateshead - ineligible for playoffs
Just looks like the council cannot afford the millions it costs to subsidise a stadium that has faded hugely from its heyday. And it will have to be hived off into the private sector so the full guarantees of tenure can't be provided at present. It's just financial realiies hitting home in these tou...

Can you imagine the uproar if Ainge had banged in 20 by Xmas and was then whisked away by Fylde or similar for an 18 month or two-year deal and we got next to nowt.

Re: Chester Away All ticket
When Ainge signed I remember our fans positively salivating at the prospect of a Styche/Ainge strikeforce ripping our rivals to shreds. Everyone seemed to consider it a phenomenal signing. It was also reported that his previous injury problems were behind him.

Of course sometimes these extended deals have also worked in our favour as in the case of Josh Heaton, who had had injury problems but we eventually received a big fee for, Charman, also with injury issues, Hatfield (we wouldn't have got him without a two year deal), Mark Beck (again had had seriou...

Re: Chester Away All ticket
Maybe this comment about Asante from a Chester fan sums it up (although obviously he hasn't had much pitch time under his belt in recent months): "Sad to see what’s become of Asante these days - actually in better shape physically than I expected, but he was second to everything and his touch and wh...

Re: Chester Away All ticket
Asante did look a pale shadow of the player he used to be and he has looked that way from day one. There doesn't seem to be any pace, aggression, movement or presence and I'm not sure it's just about building up match fitness. There's a real problem if this is the level when he's fit for selection.

Re: Chester Away All ticket
More than 400 of our tickets sold is not too shabby in the context of the game. There would have been a right old bun fight for the 500 allocation if survival was riding on it.

Re: So who do you want to be relegated Blyth or Farsley>
The sale of Blyth has now been completed so the new owner, Irfan Liaquat, will be able to get on with his ambition to eventually take them into the EFL and all the way up to the Championship. The company that owns Blyth, Winners Worldwide, is said to be involved in luxury hotels and prime real estat...

Re: So who do you want to be relegated Blyth or Farsley>
I think the authorities are now being very flexible with clubs in this position. For instance, Newton Aycliffe have been given until the end of May to get their work done to avoid demotion. They cited the very wet weather as being a factor in causing delays and say the money is in place.

It's actually P 21 W 12 L 9. You're doing him over there like. What makes it all the more unbelievable is his first 7 matches was W 2 L 5, and one or two numpties were questioning what had actually improved (the football was already miles better despite the results) Since then we've won 10 of our l...

As long as we don't go down, I really hope Blyth stay up to, I love going there, proper club and fans, great club house and pies. Re: Darlington v Farsley 13/04/24
I wonder if Danny Ellis will be playing against us on Saturday. I believe Farsley's 6ft 5ins defender Tom Allan is still suspended and Ellis, who's 38, played the full game against Peterboro Sports on Tuesday. Our former left-back George Smith was out injured on Tuesday. They've got a decent keeper,...

Re: The Bottom Ten, Tuesday Apr 09th 2024
Rushall's directors are saying they aim to get all their ground grading work done by the end of April after getting a deadline extension. The new seated stand wasn't built by Tuesday this week but their plan is to get it thrown up, along with terracing at the sides of the stand to get the ground cap...

If we play at our best on Saturday then we'll be sound but if we reverted to the kind of display as at Rushall then it could be a nerve-shredding day. We'd have snapped your hand off for this scenario if it had been offered a couple of months ago. Rushall have now won four of their last five league ...

Re: When Watson and Mitchell took over…
There's one or two things gone on in the background at Blyth that don't sound great. Apparently there's been a couple of cutbacks at the club since the takeover was announced with a big fanfare, one of which means the club is no longer providing food for the players on away trips. The independent su...

Re: The Bottom Ten, Saturday Apr 06th 2024
Just when NLN wave goodbye to Bishop Stortford, up come Needham Market FC - almost Ipswich!! Needham Market will go south. We will get Chesham and possibly Oxford City and St Albans I think. Chesham? Surely you can't have a place with a Tube station in National North. It's getting beyond ridiculous.
