Re: Rushall tickets

Win and we are safe, draw and its not too bad, lose will put us back into the mix again. Massive opportunity to nearly finish the job on Saturday!

Sukar returns

Not sure how I feel about this one - we don't know what was going on behind closed doors, but Barrow has been a massive upgrade.

Re: We’ve come along way.

If this form continues which I hope it does there is a genuine danger of another club coming in for him - I know it can happen anyway even if he is tied down. I doubt Watson would stay if we went down but surely if/when it looks like we are safe we need to know if he wants to stay. Sent from my iPho...

Re: The Bottom Ten, Tuesday Mar 12th 2024

Points on the board are better than games in hand for Banbury given the state of their pitch & internal strife. We just need to keep winning & Steve W plus Terry have the nous to keep us up (with the crowd behind them!) Agreed, we are, for once, ahead of most teams in terms of games played. We won'...

I think he could still do ok until the end of the season, if we are winning a game, bring him on to keep the ball.

Re: The Bottom Eight, Tuesday Mar 03rd 2024

Things can change quickly but Gloucester look gone, and Banbury, if they lose to Southport look almost gone as well. That means in a couple of weeks it might just be that final relegation place to avoid. Blyth are tanking and we could really stick the knife in next week by taking three points from t...

Re: Any new faces

Maybe a job for Asante. Mr Q strolls around on the touch line and doesn’t interfere with play, so could be a perfect fit. Probably not as I hear that Asante's latest problem is that he has picked up a phobia about barcodes so can't go near anything with black and white stripes on. I know a couple o...

Re: Any new faces

I would be surprised if a defender doesn't come in given than we have got Scunny on Tuesday as well - unless Platt is going to play at the back along side Lees. Sounds like the injury to Barrow might not be as bad as thought.

Re: Asante

If I were a betting man (like the Prime Minister) I think Asante will end up at Radcliffe when they get promoted at the end of the season as Jonno loves him - I wish we would not sign injured players ...especially in the situation we are in - this season has been a complete sh1t show on and off the ...

Re: Brackley v Darlington

Curry might be best as a super sub coming on - I'm not convinced he can do any of the things Main can do in terms of holding the ball up. Setting with two up front against Brackley is a risk, however I am all for trying him instead of Nelson who has brought zero goals to the party this season.

Re: Darlington v Hereford

Today showed what we have been missing, a mobile number 9. Main made that goal from a hopeful ball passed forward and his pace got him to the ball first and from there we were on the front foot. It also showed we can’t take any passengers in this league, we can’t bring Asante back unless he is fully...

Re: New Assistant Manager

I’m just looking forward to us trying to play a bit of football, we have had a year of dross and the players have looked clueless. Plus we’ve hardly been scoring any goals. The only way is up with Terry surely!

Fixtures

After this weekend, we have a tough run of fixtures, highlighting even more damage that Howling did to us. This is going to be one tough ask to get us out of it.

Re: Who next?

And Spenny have now got shot of Dickman. Wonder if they've got Fenton lined up already. I'm afraid skint and probably relegated Darlo are maybe at the end of the queue. It's looking like we had our big chance and a clear run at the managerial market when we sacked AA. Now the water is muddied. Very...

Re: Who next?

A "director of football" is surely daft. If you have someone overseeing how you play and taking care of player movements then you may as well bin the manager's job - thereby making the DOF the manager. I agree, a Director of Football is stupid at this level of football and with our resources. It is...

Nothing against him but he hardly “ticks all the boxes”.
May I ask who does?
Well nobody but on paper Martin Gray, Steve Watson and Graham Fenton would tick more boxes.
Agreed on Fenton, Gray and Waston haven't done too well in their previous jobs.

Graham Fenton anyone?

Relieved of his duties at Blyth: http://www.blythspartans.com/club-state ... am-fenton/.
For what its worth I said Fenton last time before the left-field appointment of Howling. I will dig out the evidence if it turns out to be him :)

Re: Who next?

Graham Fenton has left Blyth Spartans, Maybe it’s him? Maybe AA going to rock up at Blyth again. Back to South Shields probably, then AA to Blyth - the merry go round continues - if AA does get a job presumably we would stop paying him - as he surely cannot pick up a wage and then get another job i...

Re: Who next?

For me Martin Gray is the obvious choice until the end of the season, he's available, he take's no prisoners - dropping out of this league will set us back years, the people that don't want him back need to bite their tongue for now if it means we stay up. There is no obvious other choice. Needs mus...

Re: JG sacked

Sadly Gowling has already caused too much damage for whoever is appointed. I hope I am wrong, but I think we are in too deep with how much we backed him. The accommodation, paid analyst, Asante’s wages, selling Hazel etc. Alun left us with an unbalanced squad. It wasn’t ideal, but with the resource...

Re: Gowling has to go tonight

Agree with many of the comments, Gowling must go now. Get Hatfield and Lawlor in charge for Saturday. We now need to get the best possible candidate until the end of the season and take stock. If we go down then things change completely. It’s been nearly a month and a half since mid season boost the...

Re: Darlington V Bishops Stortford

A win on Saturday and we are right back in the mix. I don't want to think about the alternative. If we do win, we will be bottom of quite a large pack of teams, some of which will be looking over their shoulder as they were not expecting to be part of the relegation mix. A win on Saturday is a must.
