Re: Tommy Wright: 19/20 Season. Yay or Nay

What is a budget to the extent that it is a finalised thing that can be shared to the league our of interest? Budget is your desired spend / limit on what you can spend - but on what exactly - what possible way is there to enforce accuracy of that submission? I can imagine there could be submission...

Re: Tommy Wright: 19/20 Season. Yay or Nay

I'm probably a 60-40 in favour of him AND Alan going. If we get someone new in, I'll back them, if we decide to give them another go, I'll back them. I won't spit my dummy out like some of our fans who think we have a godgiven right to be in the playoffs just because DJ stated it or we have a decen...

Re: Grange Road Sign

I'm sure there's a direct correlation between those that incessantly moan about Blackwell and those who think moving back into the white elephant is a good idea. We've worked with, and improved Blackwell since we've been there, and it's a work in progress. Yes, I think the rugby club have been pett...

Re: Tommy Wright: 19/20 Season. Yay or Nay

I cannot believe how some on here have forgotten what an absolutely dire season it has been. Poor summer signings, baffling tactics, changing formations even3/4 times in same game, poor use of substitutes with an odd exception, signing loanees and not playing them, signing clearly unfit players, pl...

Re: Grange Road Sign

I don't like BM either, I'd prefer to be back at HP. It doesn't feel like a football ground, it feels like a rugby ground, where they play football. Thing is, on match day, it genuinely feels like our ground. All the neutrals I’ve taken with me this season thought BM was tidy and only lacked height...

Re: Darlington V Bradford PA

So Gray had a contract that allowed him to leave the very next day? Really..... This does not tie in with the answer that D.J. gave to me in a recent fans forum, I will see if I can find it. I think you’re being very naive if you think that this was a sudden declaration that no one at the club knew...

Re: Darlington V Bradford PA

Well I’ve never heard that take on it, and if true it makes for a strange kind of contract, whereby it can be terminated by one party (and one party only)with no kind of financial compensation. Are you sure you’ve got this right? And no, we didn’t want Gray skulking around bringing everybody down. ...

Re: Trotman extends contract

That’s great news, really like Trotman. I expect TW to be here next season as Trots wouldn’t have signed if Tommy was moving on and would have found a club more local to him. 2 + 2 = 71 The club had an option and extended it. He is one of our most valuable assets, regardless of whether he stays or ...

Mark Bower, Chris Moore, Chris Hardy, Adam Lakeland, as a start, would all be viable candidates.

Blyth is also in the greater Newcastle area giving them much better access to the talent coming from that area and cast offs from Newcastle, primarily, and Sunderland.

Re: TW - Learning His Trade

I liked Maddison, great shot stopper imo. I think he's had his confidence shot and hasn't regained in. Would like to think a fresh start in the summer for him and refocus. Come back in pre-season and be the GK we know he can be. Weren’t you stood behind him at York screaming for him to ‘get out of ...

Re: TW - Learning His Trade

I think Ferguson had gone by the time Wright was appointed, Beck never played a game under TW and was gone a couple of weeks after him arriving along with Bartlett. My point was to show that the supposed fee generation from players, which is mainly down to circumstances and affordability, was from ...

I want to also consider the club's transfer dealings: David Ferguson - signed by Martin Gray on a free; sold by Tommy Wright for a fee. Re: TW - Learning His Trade

I assume that by 'improving' you are isolating the last two matches alone? What other possible metric coudl you be using to suggest that he is getting better as a manager? Those determined to keep Wright for next season seem to be basing it one thing: hope. Hope of a weekend on the drink with Tommy...

Re: What Size Ground?

About 10,000 would do us. Feethams was around this and I believe York’s new stadium is about 8000. There may be the odd match 3 or 4 times a decade where we could sell more seats but hardly worth the extra build|running costs. In all seriousness, a ground of 5,000 would be ample for us - 8,000 abso...

Why not? If he can turn out a team to play like that - I've always said he had it in him somewhere. Loved watching Thompson showboating towards the end. Re: Step 4 Reorganisation

4 more midweek games isn’t totally what we would want I guess. Makes no odds it will happen if that’s what they want to do. If the article is correct the NLN/S teams voted for 24 clubs as opposed to 22. An extra 2 games home income probably being the motive Exactly that. At our level more (genuinel...

To be fair, it wouldn't surprise me at all if we have a strong end to the season and win at least three of our last four. It'd be very us. I know this club far too well. We all know what happens next; we win the remaining games and the management team are hailed geniuses. The players and budget we ...

Brad clearly has deep pockets and I think he's ultimately now dreaming of the league. I'd rather they went up to be honest. The less bankrolled village teams in the league the better in the short term future. They'll all go too far and nature will take its course eventually.

Interesting interview with AW on the official site. Defends the performance of the team during the season, thinks that it's 'fine margins' separating us from success and failure. Re: Boston V Darlington

I watched the York/Boston game a few weeks back. Boston looked pretty good to me and they had some flair, worked hard and played as a team. I reckon they will be too strong for our ever changing bunch of strangers/I mean - “now playing with freedom”, born again players. Boston 2. Darlo 0. A good sy...
