Step 1 - Wake up, come to senses as best I can. Force myself to kitchen for Lucozade/orange juice Step 2 - Having rinsed mouth of any ale residue with sugary drink, Bacon sandwich time... Step 3 - Hair of the Dog - to be drank quickly. Ideally Lager (Only time I drink it - Body will likely reject pr...

Re: If you could pick 1 song to be played at your Funeral
"Walk of Life" would be pure genius at a funeral.... probably one of the most upbeat fantastic songs I know, with a great video "Brothers in arms" would be pretty good too. But personally, I'd want "Next Year" by the Foo Fighters. Or "Going Home - Theme from The Local Hero" by Mark Knopfler. Not the...

University of Salford offers
"Museum and Heritage Exhibition design"
Anyone think that the country would suffer greatly if we had a few less people funded to do this course?

Most pointless Degree courses...
In the light of the Student protest at tuition increases, I challenge the good people of this site to find the post pointless courses that you can do at University. "Horology" (or "understanding of Historic Timepieces") at Birmingham City University Was what I found after a very very brief search. A...

Re: TUITION FEES
The problem is simple. There are too many degrees, and too many people at university. Sorry, but that is a fact, and a past governments fault. Remove all the pointless 'degrees' (such as Surfing Studies, Womans History, Aromatherapy etc), and keep the practical ones (Such as Languages, Engineering, ...

Does anyone remember Norseman? Used to be in Vaux pubs. Now there was an extremely nasty lager. On the subject of what to sell at the club , they should stock a bottled real ale. I used to enjoy the Cornish Ale they used to have but fizzy IPA is just awful. Can anyone remember the Camerons' one - t...

Was the "one with the cheesy Bavarian name" called "Ayingerbrau". If so, you can still get it in Sam Smiths pubs (ie The Glittering Star), though Sam Smiths call it "Alpine Lager" now. (I've seen the empty kegs outside, still labelled Ayingerbrau). Just been to Asda and noticed they were still selli...

Re: Dissertation Project
So do you think the FA needs to stand up to these players with a Morals Committey? No. Agreed, and even if the FA did try and improve the morality of the game, any comittee would end up being completely toothless. Its up to the clubs to hammer players for bringing bad publicity to the club when the...

I'll add a few. 1) Women with push chairs, who are waiting to cross a road, and hang the front of the pushchair over the kerb. 2) People who get served before you in the pub, and say "5 pints of Lager" then when they are asked "which lager?" then shout across the pub to their mates, who take ten min...

I bet the private detectives and lawyers are loving this. I just don't see what the money is going to do. In defence of "the stupid ugly spotty little tart", she is liable for an £80 on the spot fine, and possible dismissal if you turned out to be a 'test purchaser' for the police or licensing people. I've enjoyed the "old timer" threads, and I wasn't around in the 70's! I think Ted does make an excellent point though about the game being sterile. Sport needs characters, and in the days of big money transfers and supreme fitness it seems thats been lost a little. In the same way, clubs rarely hav...

Re: For those unable to make the South Park Fireworks
I think its quite sad that this is being axed by the council. Its a very English tradition and well worth celebrating. But sadly, at that cost (I presume much of the 75k is for insurance and policing/fire service) I can see why its being axed. I wonder if sponsorship could be found to have some sort...

"Joined up thinking" and "Exit strategy"
Both irritate the hell out of me.
"Exit Strategy" in particular, because the bloke who uses it, uses it in a context where it never makes any sense.
"We'll do plan A, and if things fall out of sync, Plan B is a perfectly suitable Exit Strategy"

What Newcastle (both the fans and the board) need, is a new hero. I had hoped, that Hughton (who provided them with silverware, and stopped them becoming 'another leeds') might be that man. He certainly deserves more admiration as a manager than either Shearer or Keegan. Sadly though, survival is n...
