Christ, are you still banging on insanely like this every time the name Armstrong is mentioned (and even when it's not). Surely there's got to be some suitable therapy available
I didn’t mention his name, was you who jumped to that conclusion ;)

Re: Curzon V Darlington

I'll bet the owners of Curzon Ashton sometimes feel like they're pushing a large boulder uphill in terms of attendances. Last Tuesday's home game with Peterborough Sports attracted just 149 people. Must be a bit demoralising when they compete very well at this level. The ground's excellent (althoug...

Re: Darlington v Buxton

Armstrong looked utterly broken after beck left, and that very plainly seeped into the team. Jacob Blyth flopped, but he spent his whole time with us hearing interviews in which Armstrong implied he wasn't good enough. Whatever Armstrong did before then - and a whole load of it was good to great - ...

Re: Darlington v Buxton

Players are going out on loan but the ones we have tried to get have chosen other clubs in better positions. Even players who want to get themselves in the shop window are choosing other options. If only we hadn’t penny pinched last season! Yeh funny that--guess it's what happens when the manager a...

Re: Darlington v Buxton

Cracking result and a shot at survival is on, I was sceptical of hiring another manager as felt it was too far gone, but Watson doing a good job at turning this around. Armstrong and Gowling should take a good look at him, no whining about the budget and no cliched jargons--just getting on with the ...

Re: Blood on hands/heads must roll

Some really good posts on this thread. Am struck by how much some people still rate Armstrong and it makes me wonder if am being too harsh. I guess we would have been better off sticking with him rather than having Gowling but I think AA had the longest run with a failing team I have seen. Months a...

Armstrong went public last month making himself available for a managerial role again. That could well be a hint that the notice period had been served.

Re: Blood on hands/heads must roll

You can waffle on all you want with your anti Armstrong agenda but his track record stands up well and we would have ended up mid table. Gowling was appointed with a poorer win percentage ratio. That is stupidity. Not sure on what planet we would have finished mid table under Armstrong. He had mana...

Re: Blood on hands/heads must roll

No one has explained it apart from saying 'DJ said we werent laible for ALL of it'--the idea he has a 2 year contract and will have to accept 3 months wages is ridiculous---we may end up paying him a lump sum that is less than his full value IF he agreed, but this glib 'its been paid off stance' is ...

Re: Blood on hands/heads must roll

Ahh I forgot the season finished in September! If the board were so confident in Armstrong’s ability to give him a two year deal then they were stupid to get rid so soon in the season especially if there was money still in the kitty. Even if Armstrong had stayed we would not be in this mess now, we...

Re: Blood on hands/heads must roll

So the board get a chance to turn it around but the manager who did a fairly decent job for a few years and who had us at the top of the league before his star player was flogged and then had his budget cut so we couldn't attract decent replacements for Beck and others, isn't allowed the chance to ...

Re: Blood on hands/heads must roll

As i said previously, the board made a mistake trusting Armstrong with a 2 year contract and this years budget Since then it’s been scrambling to catch up which is costing us even more, the argument for keeping Gowling wasn’t he was good, just that the die had been cast and we were spending more and...

Re: Blood on hands/heads must roll

The bit that really grates on me is how DJ and the board reacted to Mark Beck leaving. We were told targets were unaffordable, expectations were dampened, and ultimately AA’s budget was reduced. At the time we nodded along but given the disastrous appointment of JG who was given a significantly inc...

Re: Blood on hands/heads must roll

DJ has led us to a path of success, over the last few years while keeping the finances in check, so not going into administration again, and 6 leagues down. There have been innovations like the way you can pay by tapping on a terminal to pay which were led by the board members, (very rare at other ...

Managerial records

Who has the best worst I wonder putting our 3 managers side by side ?

Obviously Gowling impacted by Armstrong leaving a mess and Watson impacted by Gowling and Armstrong leaving a mess but all 3 records pretty miserable
Maybe Armstrong had the best of the 3, that would be jumped on by his fan boys

Re: Blood on hands/heads must roll

If/when we do go down, there's plenty of blame to go around - Armstrong got his summer recruitment wrong, and couldn't turn around our form (we've been rubbish for about 13 months now - Armstrong was in charge for a lot of that), Gowling was a disaster, and the board have made numerous bad decision...

Re: Blood on hands/heads must roll

If he lost heart he should have quit rather than sign a 2 + year contract, you can spout all the fouls language in the world but it won’t Change the fact he built the majority of the team we have now languishing in the bottom 4, and even you aren’t deluded enough to claim we have a bottom 4 budget....

Re: Brackley v Darlington

The number of amateurish mistakes that have been made is horrendous, but hey, we can always do a third BTB or rattle a few buckets if more "mistakes" are made. And therein lies the problem, mistakes are made and the fans have to bail it out. Very easy to gamble with other peoples money when there’s...
