Re: Grange Road Sign

Two words..."Tin" and "Pot" we are Darlington football club. We've been on some amazing journeys, some not so. One thing that gripes me, lack of respect from the rugby club. It's a fuckin sign, make us feel welcome! To be honest I hate the place. I hate it too and hate the rugby club too as I know ...

Re: Darlo -Diary .We need significant change.

I’ve heard the DFCSG board is pressing for change so as the owner I can’t see him being here after Saturday so not DJ’s shout really. If he is going best to let him go before Saturday for his own self respect no point stringing it out. It absolutely is DJ's shout. He's the chief executive who runs ...

Re: Tommy Wright: 19/20 Season. Yay or Nay

Either way is a risk, keeping Wright and getting someone else in new. One risk has had 18 months having a go at it and continuously gets it wrong with the odd bright light. It's about trust now, clearly some are willing to trust Wright with another 250k budget, I just don't see any improvement it's ...

Re: TW - Learning His Trade

I am not sure either Gillies or Turnbull staying was necessary our choice. Both made it clear they wanted to leave. Also - I think if we thought Hughes was ok big money I suspect Gillies who had playing football for us as his full time job was on more. I don’t really think gillies was particularly ...

Re: TW - Learning His Trade

I would like to see continuity for next season, no good ever came from chopping and changing. Would anybody really trust TW this summer with another decent budget, especially given that the budget is being cut again placing a greater emphasis on quality over quantity next season? Maddison: Can’t co...

Re: TW - Learning His Trade

Also a negative for me is Wright signing players and not being sure about them, Jackson (didn't pick him until out of options as Holness was suspended so Tom Elliott had to play midfield), K.Elliott (hardly played him until willing to throw him on v's Boston - that was his 5th game on the bench befo...

Re: Trotman extends contract

That’s great news, really like Trotman. I expect TW to be here next season as Trots wouldn’t have signed if Tommy was moving on and would have found a club more local to him. 2 + 2 = 71 The club had an option and extended it. He is one of our most valuable assets, regardless of whether he stays or ...

Re: Trotman extends contract

Seems it's believed we have triggered an extension to his contract so ties him down to us for another year.

Quite happy with that as we either keep him for a season or he leaves for a fee, we could do with some stability as the squad is so small anyhow - I would prefer to keep him for a year.

Re: Blyth...

Listening to Armstrong's latest interview he is putting the pressure on the board as much as he can for more money. Seems like a manager who has greater ambition than the club currently, from reading some responses the fans back the manager rather than the board and some think they need to find inve...

Re: TW - Learning His Trade

Lord Lucan mark beck did play under Tommy Wright we lost him because somebody leaked the news about a release clause in his contract to Harrogate town manager Simon weaver. Not that it matters but Beck never played under Wright, his last game was Curzon Ashton away under Gray. He had played most of...

Re: Step 4 Reorganisation

Where did you get the figure of 900 season ticket holders from? From a Netcafe back in December. 885 is the number but I rounded up to 900 for arguments sake. On average 650 turn up each game (not sure what a midweek average would be but could be less). So if an average of 650 season ticket holders...

Another summer of change ahead

So I am going to try and avoid the discussion around manager and just talk about players, although the two are intrinsically linked. So I work out we currently have 15 players with a number of those contracts are up at the end of the season and some just not sure about. Goalkeeper Maddison - Clearly...

Re: Step 4 Reorganisation

Basically the two extra games are at the bottom end of revenue/profit as they are midweek. The opportunity of charging 900 fans extra via ST is probably negligible as we have high price ST already. So we are largely reliant on pay on the day, midweek people to pay for the matches. The risk is at the...

No football club owner is going to vote to unnecessarily increase their losses for 4 unnecessary games We don’t know who voted for and against though, unless you have the results of the vote? Re: Step 4 Reorganisation

It’s very easy I guesss as a Spenny fan to think more games is great but you have no worries whether they are profitable or not as Brad can cover any losses. I can’t see Brad increasing Spenny season tickets by 2 extra games and he has made them cheap already. He even reduced match prices after ini...

4 more midweek games isn’t totally what we would want I guess. Makes no odds it will happen if that’s what they want to do. If the article is correct the NLN/S teams voted for 24 clubs as opposed to 22. An extra 2 games home income probably being the motive Extra 2 midweek home games where teams ge...

Did he not learn anything at his time with Nuneaton & Corby.

I have no issue with those who would give him another year, however if we are 10 games in next season and down to around 1k crowds, what’s the plan - sack him or not?

Attendances are down on what was projected, also pre-season did not generate anywhere near what was expected. You could guess at a deficit of 15k just for pre-season.

According to accounts player budgets were as below, *obviously 18/19 has reduced from starting point stated. 16/17 - 245k 17/18 - 351k 18/19 - 330k* This suggests in Gray's first season he done extremely well to get us into a play-off position. However it also doesn't take into account management/st...
