Re: Durham FA Challenge cup

Whickham, fifth bottom of the Northern League despite all their spending for a "new era", described tonight as a "huge game" against National North side Darlington. Our side included Elliott, Bascome, Donowa and Bell, the rest youngsters, although there is a player called Steve Johnson on the bench...

Guiseley Away this Saturday 26th Oct

Whilst the cup run and draw is exciting we now have 3 league games to get through and hopefully come out of them in a better league position and still with momentum before the cup game. One of our shorter trips this season and heading there with a run of 5 wins in a row, so hopefully should have a g...

Re: FA Cup draw - Darlo Away to Walsall

I am quite happy with the draw, could have been better and could have been worse.

It's a tie against a league club in the 1st Round of the FA Cup, what's not to like about it.

We now have 3 league games in between to hopefully move up the table a little and then have a big FA Cup game.

Re: FA CUP FIRST ROUND

I've made a complete f*** up for the first round. Wife and daughter are going to a concert at the NEC the same day as Leamington away, on the 9th, so I booked an Airbnb in Marston Green that night. Me and boy would go to the game, they would go to the gig, we'd pick them up after and everything wou...

Re: Fans forum needed

Craig said that profit is much up on hospitality despite numbers being less. Seems good news and heard it mentioned this weekend. Not sure I totally agree with pricing it higher, however if you are looking at it from revenue/P&L and the increase has done the job for profitability then it's hard to ...

Re: FA CUP FIRST ROUND

Love how excited everyone gets and the thoughts of Sunderland Away, get the bye, a league club etc. I love hearing every opinion on hoping we get this or that and what's best financially for the club, this is exactly the conversations you would dream of at the start of the season. Getting on TV woul...

The round we just won Darlo got £18750 and losers £6250 in the first round proper the winner gets £36000, on the FA website it doesn’t say what the loser gets, anyone know?
Nothing in terms of prize money.

Re: The Darlo Fans Radio Podcast

Enjoyed the podcast and really like the bit with Dave Johnston, it's always good to hear from the CEO and listen to him share his thoughts on where we are as a club. Agree with the comments on volume it wasn't perfect, I could hear it but I did have to turn it up and down a little. Something for the...

Re: Fans forum needed

Onewayup- I asked the question about Craig and it was a passive one asking if it was successful. I said this was "not a criticism at all". Think it's a fair question on Craig Morley which I don't expect us to get a full appraisal on his performance but a general idea on commercial performance. Just...

I'm not taking Super Les' comments as Gospel. I used them to highlight that other seemingly connected people did not believe Burn had been difficult. Who's right? I don't know. You don't know. He may have been, he may not. I only said I wasn't going to castigate him for stealing a wage on that evid...

Re: Burn Gone

The reason he didn't play is the two managers he has had at Darlo didn't fancy him. He had a two year contract so had every right to stick around and be paid each week. He turned up for training when required by all accounts and done as requested, he just didn't convince either manager to play him. ...

Strange as he had the offer to sign for Whickham anyhow, must have wanted the pay out is the only assumption I can come to.

Re: Darlington V Boston

I don't see it as fans, it's owners for me. If we had a single owner who ran the club for what they wanted then we wouldn't get the same level of participation. I am sure single owner of clubs put money in and no one says well done to the fan, they back the owner. I remember reading comments about t...

I seem to remember the other year that there was no food and drink available for away fans . The horror! Ninety whole minutes without being able to eat or drink. It's not just 90 mins without food which does belittle the point. To be fair when you have travelled for 3hrs you expect to be able to gr...

MG for also being reckless with money, but in another way. I'd be depressingly confident that Ainge and Burn were on more than Caton. All on very similar from my understanding both Gray and Wright got carried away with spend v's quality. They obvisouly believed that Ainge, Burn and Caton were all w...

Re: FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round - Away to Tamworth or Hereford

If Hereford win the replay then I suppose we get a crowd of 2k which means we could get some reasonable gate receipts either way it goes. Also whatever happens we have had a run and earned some cash which was what was asked for, anything from this point is a real bonus. I put us as 50-50 whether we ...

Nothing to do with having a new keeper in, these have been my thoughts since earlier in the season.
Seems Alun Armstrong thinks something similar.
Whilst I may not disagree, what makes you think Armstrong agrees with you?

Colne or Belper at home would be good as both are be the lowest ranked clubs in terms of division (step 8) the Northern side of the draw.

To be honest, anyone who isn't in our division would be ok, although still a few I would like to avoid especially away from home.

Sounds like a gritty performance and the club is buzzing, 3 away wins on the trot and through to the 4th Qualifying round and some good money made for the club.

Been a while since we had such positivity, well done to the Management and the players.

On a side note, Hedley is now banned for one game after massing 5 cards and will miss the home game v Boston. This isn't great as he has done ok at RB, presume Watson would move to LB and Liddle RB for that game.

We just can't get a settled defence currently.

Details on link here, it will download and you want page 5 for FA Cup info. For the round we enter it seems to be 4 yellow cards before a 1 game ban would come in if I am reading it right and then 1 game for every 2 cautions after that. http://www.thefa.com/-/media/files/thefaportal/governance-docs/...

Not strange.

All to do with BTB rewards I believe.
