Bit strange that a new squad photo was being taken in front of the tinshed at around 2pm yesterday. Apparently it is connected with a new sponsor. Does anybody know anything about this?
Not strange.

All to do with BTB rewards I believe.

Re: Darlo v York

They have more injuries than we do and that was a makeshift side they put out. 7 of the players starting yesterday started the first game of the season, 2 of the subs in the first game of the season started v Darlo and 1 sub from 1st game came off the bench also came off the bench v Darlo. Starting...

Re: Darlo v York

York were functional and will be one of the top teams due to consistency but agree not a stand out team. Defensively they were solid enough with the 3 CB's, midfield reasonable but didn't overrun us in any way, forward line with Burrows and Kempster they could keep the ball up the field with long ba...

Re: Darlo v York

Hatfield should have been man of the match he never stopped running afraid I don`t know why Thommo get`s it as in recent games don`t think he has been up to his usual standard. Thought we deserved something from game today but as everyone knows we have no cutting edge up front so once we concede ga...

Fair enough but why sit him on the bench?
Looks better than only having 4 subs and if by magic we are 3-0 up he can get 10 mins.

Same for Bell really, Morrison, Stansfield etc.

Re: Darlo v York

I'm struggling a bit that Holliday is on the bench. I've not had the benefit of seeing him play but isn't he a right back? If he's decent enough surely that's better than a square peg in a round hole? Not a criticism! Amazingly bad luck with the injuries. He is a young kid and AA has said he wouldn...

Congratulations to Trafford on reaching the third qualifying round.
Sadly this seems the only reaction we can handle

As always I really hope we can manage even just one win this season, the draw is reasonable for us however they will be well up for it.

Re: Away to Trafford in the FA Cup

They are two divisions below and currently 4th bottom. However this doesn't mean much to us and they have just beat Bamber Bridge 3-0 (division above them) to get to this round.

Re: Gloucester V Darlington

Well, according to these posts we don't really have any problems so I fail to see why we are 17th in the table. Plenty of challenges and the start is probably about 4/5 points light from where we should be/like to be. Mitigating circumstances with the injuries, I can see what Armstrong is trying to...

Re: Gloucester V Darlington

Well, as much as I think he is a good player, Campbell has not proven he could do a job as a centre forward anywhere. The idea that he can seems to be an act of faith on AA's behalf. And a 1 in 2 record for us this season so far seems to be backing up Armstrong's faith in him as a goalscorer He doe...

Cedwyn Scott also plays for Dunston who was on trial with us in the summer.

Has scored about 3 goals in 3 games, although some have been pens but seems to be doing ok.

Re: Ben Hedley

In Hedley’s own words, he’s a central midfielder predominantly who can also play RB. Yeah Simpson says "So you're a right back" and then Ben explains "centre midfielder predominately but can play right back". Looks like everyone is briefed he is a RB but he still sees himself as a midfielder mainly.

Very strange signing, do we not have a specialist 20 year old right back in Cameron Holliday? Not that strange really, presume AA doesn’t feel he is ready to be thrown into the first team. Seemed average to ok in friendlies to me but I don’t see him week in/week out in training. It's strange if thi...

Re: Small clubs in the north west

So we need an investor who only wants 50% maximum, we might as well say 49% so we always have 51%. Has to sell shares back to the fans group only and if we don't have the money they can't sell. We should also ask them to put in a minimum of 500k per season in as well so we can rightfully play in the...

Re: Small clubs in the north west

I'm sure they will be back like we were. I just wish we'd maintained our momentum as we've now reached our level unless someone is prepared to invest serious money and supprters can accept it and relenquish a bit of power. Otherwise we'll never get back in the football league. New account and first...

gig lane is just under 15 miles from Curson Ashton might be a home for them if they have to start again.
FC Utd could repay the favour that Bury done for them.

However I believe Bury did charge a large fee per game to FC Utd.

Re: Small clubs in the north west

Bury’s long term future will be defined by ownership of Gigg Lane. If they keep hold of it, or lease it on reasonable terms, they’ll end up challenging in the Vanarama National. Without a decent ground, they’ll be no better off than us. It's got a £1.6m (or something like that) mortgage against it,...

Re: Bradford PA...

One of the issues for me is since we lost Trottman and Liddle we have lost the use of the fullback bombing forward and linking up with Thommo and Rivers. Atkinson is obviously not fit and doesn't to appear into that mold so like Armstrong said a couple of weeks ago he will have to utilize the loan ...

From my understanding Mowden rugby club won’t own the arena after the SV goes ahead, aren’t they handing it over as part of the deal. So Mowden Rugby club can go bust and it won’t affect the ground, although if both paying in and then only one that just have some effect. Also I think it’s already ow...

To be fair AA has said he would have liked a big physical striker, however O’Neill may cover this off for us for a period as he is quite aggressive for a young academy player.

What's your team in that formation

Elliott
Heaton, Laing, Galbraith
Donawa, Hatfield, Thompson, Rivers, Liddle
Campbell, O'Neill

So Trotman and Holmes out with injury and Holness out due to selection.

Yes true I'm not saying there aren't concerns about the squad - I had some during pre-season and the first 2 performances haven't been perfect. But, as LoidLucan has said, there's no point in forming judgements after just 180 minutes. It's a rebuilding year after all As for the defence, I thought w...

I'm something of a lapsed Darlo supporter, having only moved back to the area a few months ago. Absolutely no need for some of these comments on Laing. Yes he got caught a couple of times in possession in the first half but so for example did Trotman yet not a word on that. And as has been pointed out the Gateshead number 9 was a nuisance and gave Galbraith just as much of a tough time. Secon...
