Re: Signings

Has Jameson become a decent keeper since he left us? He always was a decent keeper. IMO he was very good in the Evostik and competent in the NLN, even when he started making mistakes. Half of the fan base had an exaggerated dislike of his abilities. It's probably likely that he has improved since t...

Re: Dan Maguire signs!!

Saw Amar purwal play for west Auckland against Chertsey town in the fa vase last season he was marked out of the game - trust.me he is only a shadow of his former self and definitely not national League north standard. On the basis of one game. Hope you didn't see Harry Kane in the Champions League...

I would say Spenny are overpriced at 10-1 if York are 5-1.

Re: Signings

So it was alright whilst we could compete and blow other teams out the water finance wise, but now we can't it's not? Only the "bigger" clubs should have a chance at glory?

Gillies was a far better player than he was given credit for. Another who became the scapegoat when things didn't go right, as per the only turned up when it was warm guff.

Re: Boost The Budget 19/20

Every call for funds taps into the same core people. Always has and no doubt always will. It's getting the other 700 or so regulars to commit that's our issue. Obviously some may not be able to, but a good proportion will. It's understanding why they won't to see if there's anything that can be done...

Re: Leeds crumbled

Chelsea fans seem to be wetting their pants with excitement over the thought of him being Sarri's eventual successor. It comes across as them not really having paid tooo much attention to how Derby's season has gone and taking it on face value that they're in the play-offs so he must have done a gr...

Re: Darlington's 'demise'....

The demise he refers to is in our no longer being a league club, and County Durham not therefore having one. That is true. He even says he takes no pleasure in it. Why every statement anyone makes nowadays has to be seen to offend somebody baffles me.

Re: Today’s Playoffs

Was missing out on the Chandler, Ramshaw and Fewsters not part of the reason we had to shop in the Midlands? No, it wasn't. We shopped in the Midlands because Wright had links there, and knew players from the region. And they were definately our rivals in NL. We competed against them for the title....

Re: Today’s Playoffs

I’m interested to see Spennymoor go up just to see how they operate - whether they stay PT or go FT which would mean quite a few players and their manager making a big decision. It’ll give us a very good guide. Perhaps a bit surprisingly, Stockport will be staying mainly part-time in the National L...

Was missing out on the Chandler, Ramshaw and Fewsters not part of the reason we had to shop in the Midlands? The fact we are priced out of the North East. And they were definately our rivals in NL. Obviously, there is no long term rivalry of the magnitude of Hartlepool, there isn't the history or ha...

[/quote] Ah look, the Darlington Fan Who Hates Darlington Fans is back. Spennymoor are not, and never will be a rival. Ah, my mistake. Still, 2 whole leagues. Surely the principles he has successfully applied at Dunston are transferable to a higher league team? We bang on about utilising the NL more for young upcoming players, yet I would think the gulf in quality is less relevant to a manager than a player. 2 whol...

Re: New Manager Poll

What’s the fascination with Swailes? Granted he has done well with Dunston this season, and had a very good cup run, but there is a gulf in quality between the Northern League & Conference North. It would be a risk, especially if the likes of Armstrong, Aspin, Bower & Flanagan are interested. Good ...

I think style of play is something we need to look at. I'd like us to be a lot more direct and hard working than we are at the moment, with a midfield which is fit, strong, and wins the ball back, and at least one defender who will happily chuck some opponents in the air.
Vote for Gray incoming.

Re: Wright has left the building

He leaves the club in a decent state (certainly better than the former manager) and his legacy will be setting up the academy which will hopefully generate funds for the club for years to come and also maybe pick up a player or two once established. I don’t think the work that TW put into getting t...

I watched him play in that team. Billy Elliot managed to get a half-decent side going after a decade of middling to poor stuff. There was an epic full-house beating of Pools on boxing day 1980 and a definite hint of promotion that season but the club had to sell him - to Hull - and Speedie of cours...

Yes, we need consistency but currently there is no method or semblance of attacking play which is what we need to get people to come & watch us. Only 1311 to see us play BPA who could be promoted, on a sunny bank holiday really says it all for this season. MOTM was a loanee (Turner, GK who had kept...

I was disappointed with the Bradford PA support. If we'd been in their position and we'd been playing at Bradford PA, how many fans would we have taken? I'd like to think 700 perhaps 800.
Never sure if you are taking the p**s, or are as dumb as your posts suggest.
