Re: Fundraising Ideas
I know people sponsor the players but every so often (once per month) could the club raffle off a players shirt (a different players shirt each month). I know the players wore the orange shirt once this season. Could they be raffled off (£2 per ticket) between now and the beginning of next season? ...

Re: Darlington V Hornchurch Trophy Quarter Final
I wouldn't describe Hornchurch as a 'tidy side'. I thought the defending by both teams was calamitous at times. I think if Alun Armstrong watched that video he would be quite encouraged.

Good to see the players taking advantage of the community testing. A very responsible approach and hopefully encourages anyone else who is out there in the community regularly to do the same https://darlingtonfc.co.uk/news/darlington-fc-supports-community-testing-scheme?fbclid=IwAR1f5bO9Q77R9gMmMen...

Re: DFC Voted for League to be Null & Void
The National League are now saying that an "independent panel", not a "sub-committee", will be appointed to hear each case. So that is already a climb-down from their initial correspondence to clubs within the last 24/48 hours. The cases will be not be heard until the results of the resolution are ...

Re: Home to Hormchurch
It is a great draw for us, but I'm somewhat doubtful it will happen. The league only seems to be going one way. This is an F A competition though, not really a lot to do withe the league.Steps 3 and below were allowed to carry on in the F A cup when their leagues were curtailed so I personally think...

Chester have voted to end the season in the absence of grant funding. Excellent statement IMO.

Re: DFC Voted for League to be Null & Void
Furloughing is indeed about protecting jobs. I was trying to address the moral issue of furloughing staff after turning down a loan. But, if we take the loan, without the wherewithal to repay it, we would be trading illegally. Trading: "the action or activity of buying and selling goods and ...

Re: DFC Voted for League to be Null & Void
Yeh of all the reactions that wasn't the one I expected. They will just be put on furlough, they are just as contracted as they ever were. All we have done is voted to finish the season a few months early. Everything else is as it was. Back in the summer, hopefully! Can you morally furlough staff w...

Re: DFC Voted for League to be Null & Void
Its a shame but it's been on the cards. The squad will be broken up but on the pitch we weren't great. I presume Nicky Hunt will retire and a few others will go. I think you might be jumping the gun somewhat by assuming DFC's voting declaration will be the eventual outcome. Have you actually looked...

Re: Season at risk of finishing early
It would pretty much spell the end of the league if the board threatened financial sanctions on clubs that feared for their future if they are coerced into taking on loans that threatened their financial future. It's pretty much certain that if the only offer on the table is for clubs to take on de...

Re: Home Kit Vote
Just to add weight to the posts by DBTS and BGA, last year's open shirt vote would have been promoted by DFC's official Twitter feed, which currently has 36.5k followers! Clearly a large proportion of those can only have a passing interest in DFC (at best). However, it would only take a small propor...

Man of the Match during the game is chosen by the match sponsor. However, if you want to vote for your Man of the Match, there is a post-match poll on YourClub, which is open to everyone registered on YourClub (not just DFCSG members). The result is announced on Twitter and MM got the vote on Saturd...

Excellent read. I would commend it to all 'owners'. So there you have it, Spen, in black and white: "thousands of pounds as a ‘signing on’ fee, plus a very good weekly wage" to play for the Pride of County Durham.

For as long as there is a need for gatherings to socially distance, I very much doubt that BM could operate at a capacity that would be economically viable - hence DJ's comments.

There were two 'Man of the Match' awards (same winner). Virtual Match Sponsors, Paul and Jen Hodgson, voted for Luke on Saturday. Then there was a 'Man of the Match' poll on YourClub, which closed yesterday afternoon that also placed Luke first. Presumably Luke received a bottle of something courtes...

I guess if Saltmer was to trip over the cat and twist his ankle on Saturday morning before an important FA Cup-tie then Armstrong could have looked very silly not have anticipated that situation.

In my opinion, an unnecessarily devisive headline by the Echo: "Darlington FC hit out at pubs showing on line coverage of matches". DJ made a perfectly reasonable point in a considered manner.

Re: SEASON POSTPONED?
I like to think we will be okay, we apparently have a very small PAYE Bill once you take the players out of the scenario, most of them have jobs. As a fan funded club I’d like to think the board of the DFCSG will put up a plan to get us through the season. Presumably Step 1 of the plan is to obtain...
