Re: Atkinson and Gregan gone
I see we still trained at Eastbourne this week. We need a clean break from MGFA. We do not want any connection with them that could be seen as a potential conflict of interest. This presumably means a new venue for reserve games as well.

Re: how was it for you
Pipe is the other side of the stand. We would be able to build another stand next to the tinshed before hitting it. It stops us building one for about 25-30 yards next to the existing seating stand (on the side where the foundations are not, there's nothing to stop us building all the way to the co...

Re: how was it for you
Unless the dreaded watermain is outside the playing area the new stand foundation slab is over the pipe. I thought we were avoiding building over this main?

Re: Spawnymoor to finish season on 17th May
Some very valid points in this topic. I was particularly interested in the m62excile posted spreadsheet which has Spendymore highlighted in yellow which means "Ground Grading not yet approved for Promotion" Whatever happens they will be fined by the FA, and rightly so, as they have certainly missed ...

Re: Possible new site?
An informative debate with some good information. Sufficient for me to hope this is not the Boards solution to getting back to Darlo. The pitch is even further from spectator's areas than I imagined. It is the little things that kill it. Like the land is not level so it will be possible to view game...

Re: Return to Darlo/Arena/Mowden update
I am not sure about setting up our ground next to the Arena. It is bound to take an age to get planning approval, go through public hearings and get the cash together to pay for our share of the development and in the end the gound will not be of a high enough grading to get us very far back up the ...

Re: Return to the Arena
For me it is not the last resort, but the only reasonable alternative to being outside of Darlo for a long time and being refused promotions for inadequate ground grading. Then someone will suggest we borrow the money to upgrade for promotion and that will be followed by Administration again. Even i...

Re: MPRC stadium deal agreed
Well done to Mowden Park. I wish them well. I do wish people would just realise that the Arena did not kill Darlington FC. The cost of twenty odd professional footballers who were only just good enough for the Conference, plus all of the Management associated with a full time professional club, and ...

Re: Highlights
Went to the match mainly to see what makes Spendy a potent attacking force. Their tactics are mainly to get to the byline and cross it in at pace. Rarely lumped it in from the corner of the box even when it was passed back from winger to the full back. They often trippled-up on the wing to get to th...

Re: Did Richardson cost us the game?
No Richardson did not cost us the game. The Ref did! Having watched the highlights the Ref certainly can spot a two footed jump tackle as a red card offence but he was not as good at spotting that a professional tackle from behind with no other player covering is also a red card offence whether in t...

Re: Darlington vs South Shields ~ Match Thread
I am not worrying about Spennymoor. If they win the league and choose to go up it will make it a nailed-on promotion for us next year. Meanwhile the Town can shoot off to play the likes of Trafford next season and get trounced. They certainly won't win 6 - 0 week in week out! Realistically we are no...

Re: Mowden park and the arena
I don't see any reason why we cannot alter the Arena to suit our needs. IMO we would only need the Main Stand and facilities so could take out the seats on the first few rows all round and put temporary hoardings up to give terraced areas for standing and cheaper viewing. Then people could fill all ...

Re: Mowden Park Rugby Club - The Arena!?
I seem to be the only one not surprised by this development. I suspected that our move away from the Arena without any realistic plan to build our own ground was just a device to put pressure on S & S to sell at a resonable price. I just could not see who would buy. Further I can't see why people th...

Re: DBC and 'The Master Plan' for the 'Town Centre Fringe'
Does Blackwell Meadows suffer a similar flooding problem sitting next to the river? Anywhere on the Skerne floodplain including Blackwell Meadows is subject to flooding. The really bad news however is that work upstream to prevent flooding increases flooding downstream. It is only a couple of years...

Re: "Missing Investors"
Getting re-investment of the Crowdcube money was always a big ask. The average Crowdcube figure was £300 but with maybe only half investing just £100 the other half averaged £500. The 1883 current package is not good enough to get these higher investers to re-invest this sort of money. As has alread...

Re: We have to change our name!
What a mess! Calling the FA names won't help however. Clearly 1883 either did not understand the advice of the FA or they thought that going for a new Football Share was less risky than agreeing a CVA that was not acceptable to the FA. With hindsight we should have agreed to the Raj CVA and accepted...

Re: If the club's name has to change, what would you go for?
Before eveyone has a real go at Charlie_Darlo there is a blog on the Northern League website that says the FA have requested that we explore a name change as we are a new club. They also have expressed concerns at just adding AFC or FC to the name according to the NL. I am begining to wonder what we...

Re: Appeal if we are placed in the Northern League?
It will be a waste of time and money to appeal IMO. Chester had their own stadium with fan segregation in place. We have Shildon. The higher up in the league we are placed the less likely we are to clear the season without crowd trouble as there will inevitably be some teams with a decent away follo...

Re: Northern League - Police Concerns???
There will undoubtably be trouble at some of our games next season and police and local authorities won't be happy. We can't expect to use this to appeal against league allocation like Chester did because Chester still had a stadium where fan segregation was assured. They could therefore argue that ...

Re: Arenas TRUE running costs!!!!
I can understand that 1883 want to be cautious and go for the safe option at Shildon, but the fact is that if we want to get back to Darlo by next season they are going to have to make a bold decision to either move back to the Arena or spend the £250K apparent saving and much more pretty damn quick...

Re: Arenas TRUE running costs!!!!
The cost of running the Arena next season set against the cost of renting at Shildon is not the full story though is it. If we want to return to more than a ploughed field at Blackwell Meadows in 2013 we need a Capex budget to spend next season for installing drainage, laying a pitch, erecting perim...

Re: New Ground after Shildon-Any Ideas
I am concerned over the site at Blackwell Meadows. Like Feethams it is presumably right next to the Skerne. With all of the rain recently I wonder how far below the surface the water table is at the site. We could be drowning another few hundred batches of worms in the future. Any ground development...

Re: Ground share confirmed
I think this needs clearing up. What actual grade is it? Seems a bit silly sharing a stadium which isn't up to Evostik prem standard as we're essentially making the FA's decision for them! Unless the FA have already told 1883 that we won't be in the prem? It seems as if we are making the FA's decis...

Re: The Arena
My view is that between 1883, S & S and the council we ought to be able to find a way to use the Arena next year. I asked 1883 if they intended to reopen talks on this and they said not. The running costs of the Arena are irrelavant as we only need the stands changing rooms and pitch and possibly th...

Are there any plans to continue discussions with S & S on using the Arena next season now that 1883 have secured the club from Raj. It does not make a lot of sense to pay another stadium owner out of town whilst S & S have the stadium stood empty. Raj was determined to shaft certain creditors (S & S...
