Re: Signings

Is Burn still under contract - I suppose if we can't offload him then a long term loan with the other club paying some of his wages might ease the burden a little bit. As for Spenny - not suprised they are looking at good players who may be available - if you have the money to do it then don't wait ...

Sloping pitches

Looking thru a website that encompasses non-league football at pretty much all levels, came across the case of Chard FC (step 6 Northern Lge 2 equivalent), who have been relegated to step 7. A club statement said this was "after the Football Association ruled their sloping pitch does not meet the cr...

Re: Pre season

I think seeing pre-season games as a potential money maker doesn't work - at least for us. Aside from a possibility of a decent day out somewhere it should be all about preparing the team for the coming season, which might mean games against unattractive opposition in front of a few fans.

Re: Its Gloucester City and.....

Bloody hell, they should re-name our league National League Div 1, not impressed. to be fair to the FA - by the time we get to this stage its simply a question of looking at all the 44 teams in NL N & S and drawing a line somewhere. The real problem is the lopsided level below, with the four feeder...

Get in. Kings Lynn promoted. Myself, my son and Grimsby Quaker will be on our way!
See you there! At last a game in the doorstep (relatively speaking) and just about home in time for tea.

For purely selfish reasons I'm hoping Kings Lynn make it this season, would be a 'home in time for tea' game for me. And knowing Darlo fans we would still have the best away following of the season at the ground.

Re: Owners Club

For me the main point of the DFCSG is to get as many fans as possible involved with a stake in the club and through that have a say, albeit a small one, in major decisions affecting how the club is run. Providing an income stream is secondary. For that reason I would always want the membership fee t...

Totally agree that the DFCSG - the owners club - must be financially available to all.Having said that raising it by a few pounds every few years would raise a bit more without putting people off. I know that match tickets, on the day and season, are subject to VAT - are DFCSG subs VAT free like oth...

Re: Wright has left the building

Hopefully the team can put on a decent show for him - while ultimately Wright is paying the price for poor recruitment, tactics, motivation I think some of the players have to take some responsibility for the position we are in. As usual, the manager carries the can and I'm sure Wright must realise t...

Law changes season 19/20

A bit of light relief from Darlo performances. Picked this up from the website of my local East Anglian league, but I assume these IFAB approved changes will apply at all levels from next season. I like the one about yellow cards for 'illegal' goal celebrations remaining even if the goal is subseque...

Darlington 1 out of 10 Guiseley 1 out of 10 Ref 1 out of 10 And that's being extremely generous. A truly dreadful display and the hundreds who travelled seemed to be rewarded by players with their summer flip-flops on. We deserved better than that from TW and his players. Where was the game plan, w...

Re: Tommy Wright: 19/20 Season. Yay or Nay

If the decision on Wright/White future has already been made, whichever way, today's result and performance is irrelevant, but if not then it may be a timely reminder of what has too often been the norm this season, rather than the relative upturn of the last few results.

Re: FANS NETCAFE -this Friday evening.

Why does a contract need to have a fixed end date? Because if not, then like you can at work, a player could give notice and leave a club at will and without club getting compensation. Your work don't get compensation if you join another company. The fixed term contracts in football ensure clubs ca...

Seems most of the 'big' issues - like Wrights contract situation, is being sidestepped. I know how long Solkskar's ( you know who I mean) contract is, but not the manager of the club I have a share in and help, in a very small way, to finance.
