Re: 4th Place Finish This Season
Blyth and Curzon relegated. Does anyone think there will actually be relegation from our level this season? There will be if South Shields get their way - saying you should use 46 games over 2 seasons to get a final table They also say no relegation and increase of number of clubs to 24 at NLN of y...

4th Place Finish This Season
If you go onto the NLN table on Football Web Pages at https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/national-league-north/league-table/predicted This is their predicted final table and at the bottom of the page are the predicted match results. https://i.ibb.co/y53KhK0/Annotation-2021-01-15-104937.jpg I'm sure ...

Re: FA Trophy travel fund raising Weymouth
Not necessary to have 2 drivers with an overnight stay. At this rate, one driver in front with the snowplough, the other in the bus :o We hear about football matches postponed because of unfit pitches etc, but wonder how many matches have been postponed because away team couldn't get there owing to...

Re: National League lottery money
You are correct Spen in that NLS and almost 50% of the clubs in NLN are not included. Doesn't exactly present a united front to the Government does it? I Don't understand why all clubs didn't sign this. It seems to be for benefit of all clubs. Get the money first then argue over distribution later

Re: National League lottery money
See statement below, we along with 11 other Clubs, have signed. Intriguing that 10 Clubs have not signed this. Seems strange as the statement is well written and thought out, and is non confrontational. https://darlingtonfc.co.uk/news/please-dont-betray-our-trust I thought the same and can't work o...

Premier inn at Weymouth is only £35 per night this friday - dont understand why £3800 is needed. Hotel costs for c30 players, management & officials Meal costs (Friday evening & Saturday morning) Coach hire, including fuel for 700-mile round trip & a coach driver (that will have to be paid for over...

Re: Southport away postponed
Interesting development that Scotland have suspended levels below the Scottish Championship for 3 weeks. I am sure all EFL games and above require an ambulance in attendance. Not sure about NL and NLN. An ambulance which could be used by the health service - it is paid for - but at the same time th...

Re: Shorter games ?
However sensible this sounds to match going football fans - we are irrelevant - TV companies dictate what happens. Just as Premiershit is going on behind closed doors because TV companies insisted on getting what they had paid for - so the TV companies will decide whether the Euros go ahead. But yo...

Re: Southport away postponed
... I’m struggling to see what pausing now and restarting in a month or two would actually achieve. To me you either end the entire season now or carry on but with stronger enforcement of measures. A several-week break feels more symbolic than achieving anything tangible. ..... I agree - pausing th...

Re: Shorter games ?
.... I think we need to accept a few things. 1) Cancel Euro 2021. It's unfeasible to delay it any further because of the world cup, the uniquely stupid format of this tournament makes things difficult, and it's unfeasible we can have full crowds by summer. We should also not be encouraging huge num...

Re: Shorter games ?
Could the National League be in a position to agree?
The Laws of the game require 2 x 45 minute halves. I think it may need approval from the games law makers & so not be something the National League or the FA alone could sanction

Question is, will Quakers be halfway through their backlog of fixtures by April? The lads will be getting a taste of full-time soccer as we will be doing 3 games a week at this rate. Now getting worried about FA Trophy final getting squeezed in ahead of the Euros. Mind, now we have done Brexit and ...

I've not so far as I can recall expressed any views on the ability of Oxford University to produce a vaccine.

Danny & Nicky Cowley were teachers. Ainsley is a decent manager but I would be interested to see him manage a team in the Evo-Stik / Northern League that doesn't have the pick of players at that level. ….. Probably still get some funding, as limits are going to be in place. its a good question about funding. Depends on how they deal with it. If its the 2000/4000 limits, then virtually no club who can have fans in will lose out. If its the sort of limits they were talking about at start of season, the...

Re: EFL Clubs to use up to 5 Subs
If teams are allowed more subs, then inevitably they will need bigger squads, which means less players available as you go down the pyramid. Thus the standard lower down the pyramid decreases and costs to clubs increase as they have to have bigger squads. Would be good if we have 5 subs, if say 2 ha...

Re: FA rules on abandonment
Realistically the league are within their rights to suggest we play the final 4 minutes + injury that were left. If they did would we bother? I'm not sure the rules allow for restarting/ finishing a game after a referee has abandoned a game. My understanding of abandoning is that brings the game to...

It wasn't a cup match Law 7 provides similarly for all football matches. IE a game is of 2 halves of 45 minutes However there are examples of matches being deemed complete going back at least as far as the infamous Man U 0 v 2 Man City match in 1974 where after Dennis Law put City 2 up near the end...

Are the rules about no replays still in place for the First Round ? If so is it extra time and penalties or straight to penalties after 90 mins. Purely an academic question as I believe we will win in normal time of course. THere are no replays this season Rule 10 (e) (e) In the Competition Proper:...

Re: FA Trophy
With the news that Steps 3-6 are suspended for the duration of the lockdown, this will mean a delay in the FA Trophy. We currently have no game scheduled for 5th Dec as it's the Second Round. I'll be amazed if we're out of the lockdown by then anyway, but even if we are, the first round is this wee...
