Re: Darlington V Boston

Performance and result sounded really promising from the lads. Another tough test and physical side, but sounds like we played to our strengths, got their CB's moving and caused them some problems. The system change and introduction of an extra midfielder seems to have really helped us. Moved us up ...

Re: Darlington V Boston

Thompson also doubtful with a groin injury. Still a few options and in all likelihood he'll stick with what we had at Leamington, swapping Hedley for Watson and swapping him to the left with Liddle coming to the right. Had Trotman been around that 5-3-2 / 3-5-2 at the bottom might have been interest...

Re: Darlington V Boston

By the time Tommy had given up on Ainge being a striker, he was a fairly limited CB. No questioning his strength in the air where he won plenty of headers, but along the floor he is painfully immobile and in possession he often just hoofed it away in any direction. If you play to his strengths and h...

Re: FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round - Away to Tamworth or Hereford

Perhaps worth noting aswell that Tamworth have to play Biggleswade on Saturday 12th and Rushden & Diamonds on Tuesday 15th. Before the FA cup game on 19th October. We, on the other hand, have the benefit of a week of training after our game against Boston on the 12th. Plenty of time for Alun to get ...

They will have to work their socks off to get back into the game 👍
They'll have to work even harder now. 2-0 Hereford.

Re: Martin grey appointed sporting director at shildon

Martin grey has now left shildon. Always seemed to me like it was a stop gap. Even some club officials thought that http://www.shildonafc.com/2019/09/martin-gray-leaves-shildon-afc/ Not really arsed what Gray is up to. Re: Alfreton V Darlington

"Victory for football" Les McJannet pretty much summed it up on Darlo Fans Radio. One thing that was clear as a bell on the highlights was that the Alfreton player who smashed Liddle's nose led with his arm straight into his face. Yeah I noticed that on the highlights, certainly deserving of a yell...

Re: New signing

Reported in the Echo that Burn has rejected Wickham in recent weeks. For me it seems the lad has given up being a footballer. There have been opportunities for him to leave and play and try and resurrect his career whether that be permanently or on loan with us paying the top up on his wages (simila...

Welcome shakers fan. Saw the news yesterday and tbh with you, I was slightly glad, not for any past rivalries or injustices etc. But from the perspective that, based on Bury's current situation, the only persons who could afford to or would be willing to take on and try and untangle that mess would ...

Re: New signing

Does anybody know what position does he normally play? He doesn't look very happy in the picture does he? He's a CB. Which I guess means Laing is out for longer than was hoped? Possibly, and certainly from Armstrong's interview today Laing's injury sounds a little more longer-term than he hoped. AA...

Don’t know if we can afford to play Chasetown, watching the highlights from the first leg with Leamington, could easily have played that game with 8 men for the most part. Some errrr agricultural play    , not sure if we can afford all that with our injury record. https://youtu....

Re: Josh Heaton

We're not that Blyth team though. Just because it happened once for Armstrong doesn't make it a certainty it's going to happen again. And we don't have a Maguire. Blyth didn't have a Thompson or a Hatfield. We don’t have Jameson or Maguire. Sounds obvious, but Blyth had a goalkeeper that is probabl...

Re: TheFACup

Good result and through which is what all of us wanted, nice bit of cash coming in as well. Shame we couldn't keep the clean sheet, but with a makeshift CB partnership I think I'll take the win without looking a gift horse in the mouth. Well taken headers from both Thommo and Donawa for their goals...

Re: Away to Trafford in the FA Cup

To be honest I still wouldn't put Burn in. Laing to face a fitness test before the game. If he fails it I'd expect. A back four of Hedley, Galbriath, Watson, Liddle. Guess the positive is Laing is fit enough for a fitness test, means most likely, even if he doesnt pass for the game tomorrow, he shou...

Re: Away to Trafford in the FA Cup

Armstong has confirmed in his interview that O'Neill will be back which is a big boost for us. I'd imagine if Liddle passed a fitness test for the bench last week he will be capable of starting this weekend. Big question now is whether Laing is fit or not and what damage he did to his hamstring. I'm...

Re: Away to Trafford in the FA Cup

I`ll be happy if we win 1-0. Think I'd join you in that sentiment. Clean sheets are important at the minute, start keeping a few and we have a really good chance of winning games. Only 3 sides have stopped us from scoring this season; BPA (although we hit the post 3 times and missed a penalty at th...

Re: Josh Heaton

Got to agree with Quakerman on this one. While I don't think our season success is dependent on finishing in the playoffs, they are far from out of reach. For context, Stockport had 12 points before the first FA cup fixture last season, Blyth only had 7 points at the same point. Both went on to have...

We really cant catch a break. Liddle having a fitness test pre game but cant help but think by rushing him in we might do him more harm than good. Assuming he isn't fit. Cant decide what is best do we pack the CM position as suggested above. Or do we stick with something we have probably had more tr...

Re: Darlo v York

It's obvious to everyone else. No it isn't. Plenty can see it's 4-4-2 Campbell is the most advanced man, O'Neill is further back. Irrelevant. You wouldn't expect the two forwards to be always in line. If anything, Campbell drops out of the box looking for the ball, far too often for me. The wingers...

Re: Josh Heaton

Sad to see Josh leave as we all know what he could be. But also respect to the lad. He's young. He wasn't playing as much as he wanted to and he's moved to a club where he could be a first choice. If only Mr Burn had such a professional mind set to picking himself up again. Also credit to Armstrong,...
