Are they cup tied , not sure if SS managed to play any Trophy games. Anyone?
Both cup tied, both started Shields 2-1 defeat to Ashton United at the start of December.

Re: Blackwell Meadows Signage

As others have said, any sign (no pun intended) that the relationship between the RC and the FC is improving can only be good news. Prosperous sporting teams in Darlington can only be a good thing in terms of financial income, community engagement and public health. I'm sure the infrastructure commi...

2 new loan signings

Nathan Lowe - CM
Myles Boney - GK

Both arrive on an initial 1 month loan from South Sheilds.

Guess that means we're preparing to carry on then.

Re: Season at risk of finishing early

I’d love to say I can’t believe we’re in this situation. But as you say the national league have been inept from the start. How can directors at these clubs take loans with no idea when they will have the income to pay them back? It’s the definition of trading insolvent. Where will the money be comi...

Re: Home Kit Vote

The beauty of this club is that that fans get to choose. Hoops (or a variant of) or not (something else x3). Newcastle United (a) don't ever deviate from b&w stripes and (b) don't even consult the fans on it. You are asked, every season in recent years, "which of these eight kits do you want two of...

Re: Weymouth V Darlington FC FA Trophy

What a good result and performance that was. Can't avoid how poor Weymouth were, no shots for Saltmer save but that was in part down to our good work. Noticably played a good 10 or 15 yards deeper without the ball which helped made us a lot more solid. Going back to front a bit quicker also helped g...

Re: 4th Place Finish This Season

Will be based on expected goals i assume. We've only really lost by the odd goal at home this season and on top of that we put 6 past Blyth so our home goals scored won't look too bad compared to goals conceded, which then gives you a statistical chance of winning more matches. Then away from home w...

Re: Farsley coverage

Still frustrated after last night. Realise its tough with barely a chance to train and work on things through and then facilities being closed due to the pandemic. But its our shape and concentration on set peices that's letting us down at the minute, we need that extra man in CM whether it be Holne...

Re: Farsley coverage

Getting very frustrating this. Unable to defend balls into the box from set peices (been our achilles heel for years since the Gray left) and similarly we pose little to no threat from our own set pieces, either poor delivery or noone putting themselves on the line to throw themselves at the ball. V...

Re: Farsley coverage

Good to see more numbers available for the squad tonight. Liddle and Atkinson available again after work commitments and Holness fit enough to be in the squad albeit he hasn't trained/played since Spennymoor on boxing day. Big question will be whether you play/risk Holness from the start. For me, I'...

Shame for the lad, wish him a full and speedy recovery. As said above can't remember us having a run of injuries like this across a couple of seasons. 3 cruciate ligaments and an achilles rupture in 18 months.

Re: Brackley v Darlo

To be honest if you were planning your points tally at the start of the season, anything you can take away from Brackley away is a bonus. They are a good side, who do what they do well and have been together for years. Their last 3 finishes in this league are 4th, 3rd and 4th. To have to play them a...

Brackley v Darlo

Well after the anti-climax of Saturday hopefully we can avoid any pitch drama and get back to playing again on Tuesday night. Always a tough (and long) trip to Brackley but in this case we have the benefit of a rest having not played, while Brackley were getting a 1-1 draw with Kettering. Not a grea...

No free mid weeks (Tuesday's) for us until the 23rd of February. Not sure how that will compute with the national leagues requirement for games to be rearranged within 42 days of the original fixture.

Don't really get the negative reaction. Especially when we haven't even seen the potential strips for next season yet.

Looking at the teamwear section of their website (https://www.joma-sport.com/en/teamwear) they actually make some great looking strips in my opinion.

Re: Blyth game

Great win. Nice to see us put a team to the sword and go on and score 6. All very nice finishes aswell. Credit to Minter, not a lot to do but pulled off a couple of good saves when called upon. Thought the full backs were solid enough. Nice to see Storey back in the side and thought he looked good w...

Re: Minter recalled by Harrogate

Shame, he'd really made that GK Jersey his own over the last few games, gave one of the best keeper displays in a darlo shirt I've seen for a long while against AFC Telford. But as we saw with O'Neill last season, this is the risk with loan players being key members of the first team. Need AA to mak...

Re: Blyth game

Hopefully we can pick up that elusive first league win of the season tomorrow. No disrespect to Blyth but they're in a bad way and they're the kind of team we need to be beating if we climb the league. For me we have to stick with the 4-3-3 that made us solid vs Spenny. Second game in a couple of da...

A solid point, on a day where the weather conditions were very difficult for football. Would have been nice to get the winner late second half, but very happy that we kept a clean sheet and for the most part didn't look like conceding. Credit to Reid for coming in and being solid after Laings unfort...

Re: Darlo v AFC Telford

I can see the will to want to play 4-4-2 as it allows us another CF on the pitch, but the problem with that is, in games where we don't control the ball, the pitch at Blackwell Meadows is big, it give opposition plenty of space to run into in transition. Which puts us on the back foot as we don't ha...

How the f*** have we progressed there. We played better in the 2-1 loss than today. Not one to call players out but Watson had an absolute mare ...

Darlo v AFC Telford

Time for a bit of redemption for the lads today against Telford. Was a weak way to lose last time out shipping some sloppy goals due to poor defending, I'm sure Laing will want to prove a point after a tough first game back against them. Need to make sure we keep Dom Mchale quiet, along with the CF ...

Re: Darlington V Liverpool

Ill take that, decent performance after 2 weeks off with no training. Thought Charman looked great last night, varied his play and gave their CBs a really tough game, capped off with an absolute worldy of a goal. Good to see Sousa look sharpe and take his goal well. With some general nice interplay ...
