Re: FC United V Darlington match thread

It looks like Harvey Saunders is starting to get to grips with this level and it will do Styche good to have someone snapping at his heels. No one should be guaranteed a start! Whatever combo is played up front the strikers need appropriate passes to their strengths, rather than sloppy (aerial) cle...

Re: FC United V Darlington match thread

We were getting over run in midfield because we only had Wheatley and Elliott as real midfielders, both who played well with Wheatley especially covering all over the pitch and strong in the challenge. How many "real midfielders" do we need? When we are talking about real midfielders are we talking...

Re: FC United V Darlington match thread

I think it would help if we relieved Styche of the captaincy. He's an individualist and operates best when he's focused on just one thing - scoring goals - and worrying about sorting out the other ten gets in the way. On top of that, up front he can't see the whole picture - he needs to be looking ...

So what game would the police like to go

Re: Tommy wants 3 new players

Think Elliott can play as a '4' or '8', so can play holding as well as box-to-box. Full of energy and technically very good. When did people start talking about positions in football as numbers - I genuinely thought that centre backs were often number 4? Anyway full of energy as his most notable at...

Sounds like property sale money is being frittered away from the club and new signings are just a PR exercise. Countdown on for administration and bulldozers moving in.

Talking to Nuneaton fans at Tommy's last game with them, they were unhappy with him. Their team went on and gave Darlo, still suffering from Gray blight, a pacy roasting.

Callum Roberts from Preston Wonder if Tommy knows about him. Must be a lot of competition for loaning young keepers, from other clubs that can offer first team experience. Darlo should in parallel be scouting for some local keepers, for the longer term. Darlo may need some months of pondering if th...

Darlington isn't in Country Durham though so can't compare them to us.. Spot on. Neither is Gateshead, neither is Artlepool. All Unitary Authority Areas. Some people love living in the past. There is an article in todays Non League Paper about this years V9 Academy and says 4 players are believed to have been offered full time contracts so far. The article names 2 of the players. Re: Phil Turnbull has joined South Shields

There will be a problem replacing Turnbull with a like for like, so we may see some different formations next season to better accommodate midfielders with different styles and strengths. Sad to see such a good player go, but at least he wont be playing against us this coming season. The £8,000 fee ...

Should be attractive derby games when RA play our kids team and an RA friendly with a Darlo XI is always going to be popular. Not sure if any reserves are allowed into the Northern League, although Spenny played there for many years with many ex Darlo first teamers.

Hope that he isn't going to encourage others to jump ship. He carried out his deep playmaker role very well for us, but we may need an adjustment in midfield now, because players with his skill set don't grow on trees. Hughes should give us a bit more muscle, height and goal attempts and Glover coul...

Harder for us to get promoted, but at the same time probably bigger crowds,as the floating fans seem to come to these 'bigger' games. Southport and Bradford PA will also be remembered as former league teams to older Darlo floating supporters. Don't fancy an away trip to Hereford again (drab and a f...

Haven't had personal food and drink recommendations from a local Eindhoven lad I know yet for our 3 nights there. Hope we can land a striker with similar skills to Styche, when it comes to trapping and controlling the ball. Quick lay-offs and turns can compromise the more organised defences in our league. Sam Russell and some more kids to follow?

Only 150 season tickets sold. Ground upgrade may only be necessary repairs, so "going for it" may be a stretch, unless they are being heavily sugar daddied. Memorable game for Darlo fans. Such a shame that Gray jumped ship so late. Play-offs a remote possibility, but if Darlo glean 9 points there could be some wobbles with others in the pack. Players will be up for the next 3 games anyway.
